  1. The FFs were cheap and very low grade. I'll PM you. Other highlights included just the sheer weight of comics knowledge in the room--we had someone who had a comics store in the 1970s! We had board member Lee Hester set up in the front, we had HarvDoss with his Amazing Fantasy 15 for sale. Good stuff.
  2. More boxes debuted from the new Santa Rosa collection. EdgerX and Silverweb set up so that was lots of fresh keys and such. I sold an FF 2 and 48 and traded for an X-Men 2. Even though it's not that big a room, some customers stayed on their feet looking through books for 4 hours! I sold lots of vintage Batman, X-Men, and Wolverine mini series, plus some Marvel prehero books to two guys, plus Rangers Comics to two guys. I was absolutely busy the entire time. Attendance was strong.
  3. The big shows are $50 to get in these days! We have a sweet show lined up for tomorrow. Loads of fresh stuff.
  4. Yeah, fires in the hills happen almost every year between August and October. If a fire made it all the way down to the convention, it would be the greatest fire since the great Chicago fire. Not really going to happen.
  5. Shad, I remember getting my first box from my distributor, S&L sales (?), with X-Men 178.
  6. EdgerX has some nice slabs this time around. I have a ton of new $100 to $350 books.
  7. Haha, I was looking at it the other way! A year or five from now you won't even care about getting the keys a week later than you'd hoped.
  8. Ironically, I was just watching your I Sell Comics vid when I got the notification you'd quoted me.
  9. Glad to hear you guys liked it. I plan to see it next week. Been listening to the cover version of Blue Monday a lot on YouTube.
  10. That's not Detective 398... Too bad you didn't have this Action 20 when I had a coverless copy.
  11. Now six new dealers, so plenty of fresh stock. I'll be up front so please come say hi and I can point out other board members. Facebook has been particularly lively this time around with a good discussion the past few days about what people want from this show in terms of material: www.facebook.com/Berkeley-Comic-Con-153498081743352
  12. Looking forward to seeing you guys and I enjoyed looking at your extensive instagram yesterday and today. Going to have a ton of board members there including some very old school ones who were kicking around here heavily back in the 2002-2005 period. Luckily I'm still in touch with everyone even if they don't post much anymore.
  13. If there was a hardcover regular edition of the Tick, would've been an easy choice. Had to go with Batman. I do like this cover way more than the non-Rock covers last year.
  14. I think the articles have been very good the past few years. The market reports, once they opened it up to a ton of new advisors, got much better too. Sulipa's is shorter this year.
  15. Our comics-only show returns, Saturday, Aug. 5th. Noon to five pm. This is a time-machine type show that feels like a 1980s or 1990s con. Put on by Wormboy and myself. Board members dealing at the show include Lee's Comics, HarvDoss, SilverWeb, EdgerX, CW, and Batarag. In fact, we have five new dealers with fresh stuff! I expect about 20 board members to attend, maybe 25-30. Super fun comic conversation, plus a room packed with comic books for sale. www.berkeleycomiccon.com (with innovative wantlist feature that gets sent to all vendors in advance) www.facebook.com/Berkeley-Comic-Con-153498081743352
  16. I believe Blob was making a sly reference to Baby Huey #3.
  17. Cool, the story gets even better. the five Caspers comment is really evocative too. You wouldn't think it, but the coldest I've been is living at a few places in Berkeley. Such a lack of insulation and furnaces that people just suffer for a few months. The housing stock is sub par.
