  1. Current forecast is that the local rain will end before the show kicks off.
  2. Yes, right behind me. We are the only show he does now. I have signed him to an exclusive contract.
  3. Hey Woo, at the minimum there are two ASM 1s and an X-Men 1!
  4. One week to go! Wantlists have been coming in from the online form on the website.
  5. Obviously it's going to be half as good as Yorba Linda, so if you can only go to one, go to Terry's show.
  6. I'd say the GA section has changed the least. Great community there.
  7. The big golden age show is going to be January 20 with an amazing vendor lineup. For the November show I think the focus is going to be more SA. I'll be bringing a few more GA books than usual and Harvey has a new Superman 9. Ray will be there. Otherwise, not sure the four new dealers really have any gold to speak of. Mike Jeter will have a little.
  8. The lot 1.5 blocks away, no one knows about and should always have spaces.
  9. What, you came and didn't introduce yourself! There is a parking page on the website, which includes an affordable paid lot just 1.5 blocks away. North Berkeley BART with huge parking lot just four blocks away. Another quiet city lot just three blocks away.
  10. We appreciate everyone's social media boosting of this event. Our Facebook page's following is growing by leaps and bounds and I know we bounce around Instagram too.
  11. My friend Mark Vaz has teamed up with Mark Zaid to write a book about various aspects (legal, merchandising, etc.) of the rise of the comics publishers, focusing on the legal battle between DC and Fawcett. The book is a labor of love and will be coming out from University of Texas Press. Learn more and perhaps lend some support here (fun video as well!): https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/empire-of-the-superheroes-comics#/
  12. I believe Mark Evanier was on the record as saying Fox and the Crow was his favorite series of all time.
  13. Let me know in advance and I'll bring the war books for you!
  14. Awesome, and I had a good talk with your friend Jon at the the SF show. He'll be in Berkeley this time.
  15. Our quarterly Berkeley con returns Saturday, November 4th. 12-5 pm. Our last one, in August, was our best one yet. We pack the room with absolutely as many comics and comic vendors as we can so there's not only a lot of old paper in the room but tons of comics knowledge too. Board member attendance has been great. Everyone from shortboxed to nexus to bitter old man to the brain to primetime. The show is put on by me and wormboy. Just $5 admission. Last time people were telling me at 4 pm that they arrived at 12 pm and planned on only staying an hour! Instead they were on their feet for hours and hours digging through boxes and talking comics. We always have new vendors, with four new ones this time. Also, vendors like myself, HarvDoss, and EdgerX are always buying and always have nice new stuff. Website: www.berkeleycomiccon.com (designed by the inimitable sckao!) Facebooks: https://www.facebook.com/Berkeley-Comic-Con-153498081743352/ Save the date for January 20th as well because that will be our first show of 2018. A couple special vendors already lined up for that one.
  16. At our last Berkeley con I had a smaller vehicle taking the books back so I ended up putting boxes in the front seat and rolling the empty handtruck back to my warehouse space on foot to meet the driver of the full car! Never had that happen before. Luckily it was only about ten blocks.
  17. With the major shows, I like that they are 2-3 days because it's been so much work to get the stuff there and set up, etc. Happy to be "installed" for the weekend. it's just the regional ones that see $$ by expanding to two days that are disappointing.
  18. Yes, beware the two day show that should really be a one day show! Those are killers. Typically sales on Sunday are like 50-60% of Saturday and you may have a hotel expense too.
  19. Yes, I really appreciate you posting those too. I will share this thread with others.
  20. Seeing them on Wednesday opening for the Scorps. That is a great bass line.
  21. Great info. I am making a trip to my LCS tomorrow!
