  1. Oh, I also meant to post that while this may have been the first Berkeley con that no $1000 books sold, there was an absolute record of $300 to $900 books sold. A bunch.
  2. Also, as for the new collection, some of the 70s stuff was newsstand fresh, but I don't think the silver age was. Also, there wasn't much early Marvel silver there. For instance, X-Men started at 12 and lots of holes.
  3. Tim did a con report in Comics General with great pics...
  4. Not too late for people to make vacation plans and hit the Aug. 5 show! haha The final 2017 date is Nov. 4. There are other shows around the country that are super comic oriented, but I don't know if they come out and say comics-only.
  5. Quick reminder, our remaining 2017 dates are August 5 and November 4, both Saturdays. 12-5 pm.
  6. Thanks for all your help today. Great to see so many board members, at least a dozen. We would really like to make the Aug. 5 show (yes, our next dates are Aug. 5 and Nov. 4) have a big board member vibe, like we had at our first con last August.
  7. I'll send you a PM soon. This show is growing into the kind of thing that will be worth traveling from LA for. Already, people travel about 100 miles. I'm in good touch with Terry O., of course, getting some tips from him.
  8. Keep the existence of the Golden Bear parking lot, only about 1.5 blocks away from the venue, in your back pocket in case it ever becomes necessary. http://www.berkeleycomiccon.com/parking/ One of the dealers is unveiling a big new collection 1942-1980. Lots of very nice 70s books. He'll be on the west wall.
  9. One week to go... and we are going to have an Amazing Fantasy 15 there. Plus loads of other key books and box after box of ten-centers too.
  10. If anyone wants to mark their calendars, we have all the dates for 2017! All Saturdays, all 12-5 pm. June 3 August 5 November 4 Dealer list for June 3 includes Escapist Comics, Dale Quick, Harvey Doss, HOC, Ray Storch, and Bronze Age Batcave.
  11. Wow, seeing the room makes me nostalgic! It's been seven plus months since the last one. Way too long!
  12. Cool. I was going to mention this one as a "later" piece of work that I have nostalgia for. Mainly the interior illo of the vampiress. Really fun outdoor/indoor module to play.
  13. That 111 is a great one too. Odd how I barely remember that one and that speaks more to the fact that post issue 100 I was getting older and each issue just didn't have the gravitational pull that ones from the 50s through 80s did for me. That murder mystery sounds interesting--I might need to dig that one out and see if it would be fun as a one-shot played by adults.
  14. Yeah, that one is definitely a favorite. I like Dragon 63 IIRC with the brigands in the woods coming upon our party. Did Erol Otus do the cover for #55? That one seems like classic Otus, again IIRC.
  15. I remember being surprised to see some cool Willingham art in a Top Secret module, the second one. the Dragon Magazine covers are the highlight for me. It's been a little too long for me to quite pick favorites, though all of us loved the three part chess series around issue 100.
  16. Less than a month to the show now and as a bonus, this thread should finally force Wormboy to return to the boards...
  17. Our tagline could be Seventy-year-old comics that make you feel like a seven-year-old again.
  18. You'll make it someday for one of our summer shows, I bet. It's going well. The two shows we did last year were very fun. I expect 15 board members minimum at the June one.
  19. Four new dealers with very fresh stock at the June show, plus I'm working down my backlog of books so I'll be adding a lot. HarvDoss has been on a buying tear lately (such as Hulk 102-400, Strange Adventures 1-215, etc. etc.) so it's going to be a good show. Wormboy is going to have $25 slabs and $5 trades.
