  1. thats a fair price-- if i hadnt just got one, i'd get it! someone should jump on this soon-
  2. never buy raw books on ebay unless you know the seller, in which case, why would you use ebay? buying raw there is like begging to get a raw deal. that's what cons and LBS are for.
  3. it would have been nice if it started at noon or 1pm friday instead of 4pm. perhaps in the future, something you guys might consider.
  4. incredible sales thread! seems rare lately to see such great silver age keys in one thread--
  5. hulk 1 in 6.5 WP, TOS39 in 8.5 OWWP, you're on a spending tear!! whats next? theres a tec27 2.5 coming up on comic link next month lou!
  6. that's some real food for thought, esp considering that GPA doesn't even have close to accurate info on many AF15 sales prices like CL. i'm not saying AF15 pricing won't plateau for awhile, but the real question is, is spiderman comparable to hulk as a pop culture figure? my cousin in law in japan, when i asked who is the most famous superhero there, said spiderman. not batman. demand is probably much higher for him and perhaps always likely to be.
  7. if you're mainly interested in prices for AF15, then save your money and don't bother with GPA. they don't have any results from important private sales over the last year, nor do they have comiclink auction results, which are also significantly higher over the last year. in fact, GPA for this book in most grades is off by 50-100%. and add comliclink to your places to search, along with comicconnect, heritage, and ebay.
  8. just bought a book from tim after getting two glowing reviews of him from members here. i paid by check and he didn't even wait for my check to clear. he shipped the book the very next day. super great transaction, thanks tim!
  9. i agree with this. by the way, my 3 year old is going as batman, and his friend from preschool is also going as batman. so the dark knight still seems to stay near the top of the list along with these others. but i'm sure in a few years, he'll wanna be deadpool, or preferably wolverine, if i have any sway. he loves spidey too. batman and spidey all day for him at this age. helps that there are kids books featuring those characters. if we start seeing deadpool books for 3 year olds, then we'll really know he's fully mainstream!
  10. wow is that a gorgeous copy!! they don't get much better than that at that grade or even above! congrats!!
  11. choice architecture tells us that people buy more stuff when it's at eye level. i'd have put the hulk 1s on the top row and maybe the xmen 1s also, if i wanted to sell them. either way, an insane wall of phenomenal books!
  12. i'll take it!!! can i pay more? it's gotta be worth at least 12.000
  13. sure, but (A) you can't even see the back, and (B) there was a nearly identical looking 4.0 auctioned about 2 weeks prior for just over 4k. hence, my surprise. they've had quite a few nice 4.0 TOS 39s on CL the last year. this is still a big leap in price over any of them. how many times has CGC been a whole grade off?
  14. thought this was the AF15 club! here's the one i just got from greg (omaha-CGC-comics)
  15. thanks for the info on this! i contacted them, and they offer a policy that covers the collection when it is in my possession, at the bank box, AND IN TRANSIT TO ME OR FROM ME. this is pretty awesome. a collection worth around 50k would cost about $300 per year. probably going to do this.
  16. how does a UPS mailbox work? wouldn't your mail carrier still have to deliver the package to your UPS box? or do you have people send packages via UPS? sorry if this is a dumb question.
  17. thanks for the tip, but when i google collectors insurance, nothing exactly matching that comes up. lots of ads, and other sites with different names. is it americancollectors.com? that looks like it's for cars only. do you know the website? thanks again-
  18. i couldn't agree more. just got my second copy. got a 9.0 WP 3 years ago, and have watched that increase in value 33% so far. just bought a 8.5 WP for my second copy. want more too!
  19. sorry i got a duplicate post here, had a weird error message and it appeared that my last post did not go through. must be NSA.
  20. fedex will insure, but only up to certain limits. for comics, and original artwork, it's only $1,000. used to be $500 a few years ago so at least they've upped it a bit. as a professional artist, it's quite annoying when i need to ship artwork to a client. i have a great shipping guy at a box and ship about 30-40 minutes away from me, who ships professionally all the time, and uses third party insurance. so i can always use him, and it will go fedex with third party insurance. but i don't always want to drive 30-40 minutes each way just to send a package. and that only covers when i am sending, not when i am receiving. getting the PO box sounds like the best move for receiving.
  21. what company do you use for insurance, as fedex won't insure your books over a grand?
  22. just had to share this insane story-- i just did a major deal here on the boards (my first time) where i was shipped a 5 figure book registered mail. i live in los angeles, where the mail service is ridiculously bad. so, the mail carrier comes today with my registered mail package. she gives it to me and is about to drive off. i said, 'don't you need my signature?' she said, 'no, i've got this slip.' whereupon she shows me a registered mail form that i signed last year for a completely different package. she said, 'if you were not here, i could just use this, and leave your package.' bear in mind this package is worth around 40-45k. yeah. so, i tried to keep my cool, but explained to her that that's not how registered mail is supposed to freaking work and she better fill out a new form, and had better NEVER leave a registered mail package without my signature. WTF???? everyone on these boards ships registered mail right?? we are all under the impression it is the most secure PO option out there for high value items. and that the carrier has to personally be responsible for the package, right? apparently they don't give a darn anymore. at least not where i live. please don't suggest to call my post office and complain. no one there gives a *&$%. i have only had nightmares dealing with them in the past. had another carrier forge my sig on a registered mail form around 5 years ago and that package disappeared on me. i've had only nightmares with the post office in los angeles. the problem with fedex and ups is they won't insure. what to do??
  23. did my first deal on the boards here with greg, to the tune of serious 5 figures. greg was great, we had great communication and he was super fast on shipping. i highly recommend him and hope to deal with him again!
