  1. Good to know. I'm particular about spine fold alignment. The book with white pages is slightly misaligned. The off-white book has what appears to be an ideal fold. Both books are about the same cost when you consider shipping fees and the website you buy it from, so I suppose it comes down to preference
  2. Sorry if this question has been answered before but I could not locate a topic about it. With that being said, does page quality affect grade or is it more like a bonus? For example, I found two CGC 9.2 graded books, one with off-white to white pages and the other with white pages. If it does alter the grade, does this technically mean the off-white page book is in slightly better condition than the white page book?
  3. My main concern about alternating the comics was the cover to cover contact. I'm not sure what effect this would have on the books long-term. If I leave them all facing forward and avoid packing them tight, I'm assuming there shouldn't be an issue.
  4. Hey everyone,I just purchased my first long box and was wondering how to properly store the comics inside. I’m guessing I’ll want to place a board on each end so the first and last comic doesn’t rest directly against the handles, but what about them stacked against each other? Do I face them all one way or alternate every other one’s direction so the spines are not all on one side (face forward, face backward, face forward...)? Any advise helps!
  5. I just purchased a 9.8 book that was graded on 4/18/18. It has more Newton rings than all my other graded books combined. However, I don’t view these as defects, but they are annoying to look at. I think you have the right idea about putting closeups of the image. Hopeful those who would complain about the Newton rings won’t purchase it after seeing them in your listing.
  6. A listing/inventory code makes sense. Thanks everyone for looking into this. ?
  7. I’ve seen some CGC graded book eBay listings with “G11 213 cm clean” or similar in the description. What does this mean?
  8. I was not sure if CGC could tell by the submission forms wether the books were sent by a dealer or not and if that had any weight on grading. Thanks for the infomation. I’ll double check for fingerprints before I submit them.
  9. Hey everyone, I’m planning on submitting some recently released comics for grading. Is it common to see 9.8 grades with new books? I’m not a dealer and these were bought from my local shop. Would being a customer rather than a dealer influence my grade since the books were in “circulation” or available to the public?
  10. Buy the one YOU like most. When I purchase CGC graded books, I choose one that I like, not what others want (unless your intentions are to sell it later). Having said that, I prefer the blue over the yellow label.
  11. I agree unless the front cover considerably wraps around to the back.
  12. If it were mine, I would have it reholdered. It’s $15 plus handling and shipping, not to mention the fee to ship it to CGC. In total, it will cost you around $50 if you ship it using a priority box. If you decide to do it, they will house it in their new case which I think presents nicer than the older ones. However, that extra $50 could have gone towards a higher grade (unless you got a good deal on your 9.4). Hopefully the seller will help you out. Best of luck!
  13. I just called them and they are still hornoring the reholder. Thanks!
  14. I’ve emailed CGC about a reholder. I’ll let you know if they are still honoring it.
  15. Good to know. What about other slabs that have an inner cavity like in the attached photo. Are those only for thicker books? I’ve seen them in old and new slabs.
  16. Just to clarify that I know what an inner well is, it’s that seam line that runs around the comic inside the slab correct (see attached photo)? I noticed my Uncanny X-Men 142 does not have that seam line and the book appears to be floating between the slabs. From what I can tell, it does not have that wavy appearance to it. Should I still get it reholdered?
  17. Hey everyone, I’m new to collecting CGC books and I’ve noticed some of the newer style slabs have inner wells and others do not. I read somewhere that CGC changed their slabs due to them causing comic “damage”. If this is true, which newer slabs should I avoid? Is there a date range to keep clear off? Most of the new slabs I own were graded between 04/2017 to present and one from 06/2016.
  18. Has anyone purchase any newer Silver/Golden Age full-back batches? I’m wondering if the wavy/wrinkly texture is still an issue?
  19. I own a fair amount of 9.8 grades in my collection and none of them present like this one.
  20. No, It does not move around at all. I plan to get it reholdered because the case has an aroma of smoke that won’t clear.
  21. I recently purchased a book online that has a 9.8 CGC Universal Blue Label grade, however, the book has minor noticeable flaws. The photos below show a couple spine stress lines and a small top right lite corner bend which breaks color. Do these flaws fall within the 9.8 grading criteria?
