  1. I recently purchased a CGC graded comic I've been wanting for years, Giant-Size X-Men #1 (7.0). Unfortunately, I received a cracked case after being told there were no cracks present at the time of sale (see included photo). It's housed in one of those thicker older cases from 2009. I'm not sure if I should send it in for a reslab it or leave it as is. What are your thoughts?
  2. Do you think I should treat this one as an unrestored copy? Not sure what to consider it as.
  3. Makes perfect sense. My Giant is graded at 7.0. I waited awhile for that one.
  4. I found some online graded at 7.0 and 7.5 for around $400 to $500. Why do the newer cases sell cheaper than the older ones?
  5. Besides being his first appearance, the cover is so awesome looking! I love how Angle is drawn.
  6. Sending it for grading is not a bad idea, I paid a decent amount for the book. Can you send just one book? If so, how much is it? I’m assuming this question was asked many times before, but I read some mixed information. The CGC website says you need to upgrade your memebership to submit, however, I read somewhere that you can get sponsored by a recognized dealer and send it in without upgrading.
  7. Unfortunatly, I purchased an unslabbed copy that appears trimmed. The cover is noticeably angled and the edges are slightly lighter in color.
  8. The notes didn’t mention anything more than rusted staples and the photos don’t show a good angle to tell.
  9. I took some photos of the cover and page edges. Can anyone tell if it’s been trimmed? It is quite an eyesore in its bag/board.
  10. I recently picked up a Giant-Size #1. I was looking at #94, but I’m not sure what would be a decent grade for this issue. Do I settle for a 7.5 or do I spend more for an 8.5?
  11. Good to know. I was not sure if the movement was a defect. Thanks for the info!
  12. I collect mainly unslabbed Silver Age The X-men (Uncanny) and would like to invest in a graded one. However, I'm not sure which one to purchase. Is there a specific issue out there that I should own graded, other than issue 1?
  13. I'm glad I consulted with everyone here before making an ignorant decision. I'm going to pass on this graded book, especially since the asking price is over $800.
  14. I compared my copy to another online and you can see more of Jean’s hair and less of Angel’s wings in the one I own (the Angel above the X-Men title). However, the purple truck on the right edge is missing compared to the online image. You can see the cover slant with mine too.
  15. I never thought to check the edge for color discrepancies. Also, the art shift makes complete sense. Two really good suggestions! Thank you everyone for your input, it is greatly appreciated.
  16. I do see a lot of them online and they are pricey. Rusted staples sound like it a problem long-term but then again, I'm not too familiar with what blemishes to avoid.
  17. Hey Everyone, Pondering whether or not to purchase a Silver Age CGC graded book 7.0, Uncanny X-Men 2. The grader notes mention "light cover break colors, light creases, and multiple staple rusted." What are your thoughts on rusted staples? Is this going to be an issue later down the road?
  18. I have the same issue with a 2006 slab that I recently purchased off eBay. It moves slightly when turned upside down. I wish I knew more, but I’m not experienced with graded books.
  19. I’ve purchased a few Silver Age comics in the past and I was wondering if there are ways to tell if a comic had been trimmed other than sending it to CGC? Some of the ones I own have either a very slight angle to them or are straight but have part of an image missing compared to other comics; e.g. Uncanny #11, top of Angel’s wings are clipped, no pun intended.
  20. How much is it to reslab? I’m assuming it will come back in the newer slab regardless of what slab it was originally encased in correct?
  21. It is a modern age comic (late 80s) in the slab that was prior to the new thick ones.
  22. Hi Everyone, New to owning a CGC graded comic that I recently acquired online. However, I noticed that the comic plastic bag/holder inside the slab moves a little bit when I turn it upside down. Is this common or should it be a tight fit? Thanks!
