  1. Hey everyone, I’m looking for some recommendations for online comic book stores, specifically ones that sell Silver Age X-men. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  2. Ok. If I purchase the direct edition (not the newsstand), It will be an American version right? The copy I’m looking at has been CGC graded and nowhere does it say “Canadian version” or something in addition to what one sold in the states has printed on the grade label. I just don’t want three US versions and the one Canadian version in my collection of this specific run. link to the copy I’m referring to: https://m.ebay.com/itm/WOLVERINE-Limited-Series-2-Frank-MILLER-1982-1st-Full-YUKIO-CGC-NMMT-9-8/391915014790?hash=item5b3ff48a86:g:TfQAAOSwv-ZZ9StS
  3. Hey everyone, I’ve noticed some comics sold online are shipped from Canada, specifically the 80s X-Men/Wolverine issues. What’s the difference between a Canadian and US issue? Is there even a Canadian and US version or are they one and the same? I’ve seen books from the UK and Mexico which have an obvious difference to them.
  4. That’s too bad. I have plenty of higher grade issues that I need to store, but I want to wait for better boards. At least sleeve quality has been consistent.
  5. I’m still not going to use them. All the other ones I’ve purchased in the past have been smooth (wrinkle free). I’m not sure why they are different now.
  6. They received my sample board and informed me it’s fine. The lines that are present are from a process called “checking” which straightens the board. I was also informed that the lines will not cause any damage to comics. The next load has arrived and has similar texture.
  7. I hope all works out in the end. They are supposedly receiving a new shipment this month.
  8. They requested that I send them a “sample” board and if they see damage, they will ship me replacements. As far as I’m aware, I will not need to ship back the damaged ones.
  9. I just received another email from the company at 9pm; awesome customer service! They informed me it’s from the screening process when pulling paper and that some are more noticeable than others.
  10. I sent them an email and I received a response right away. They stated each run from the mill is different and it’s hard to inspect each board, but they are willing to replace them. I’m assuming the company received a good amount of these bad boards because I’ve purchased several 50 packs from three different dealers that sell their product and all of them had the same texture issue.
  11. It’s not just a few either. All 50 boards in each pack are like that. You can feel the wrinkled texture when you slide your hand across the board. I’m afraid they may leave an imprint on my comics if I fill a short box.
  12. Has anyone noticed a texture difference with the recent lot of E. Gerber full-backs, specifically the Silver/Golden ones? The texture has a wavy or wrinkle appearance (see first photo). I’ve include two photos, one is from the old lot and the other is from the newer lot. Also, I purchased ten packs over the last several months and they are all like this.
  13. I received the new holder today. I think it looks really nice.
  14. I was able to contact the original owner and he told me it was signed in the 70s. Apparently they didn’t do “COA” during that time.
  15. Hey everyone, I own a Silver Age X-Men, issue #5 that has “Stan Lee’s” signature on the first page. I did not witness him signing it nor do I have any proof that’s it his signature. Does this degrade the value of my book?
  16. Ok, makes sense. It will look pretty sharp in the new case.
  17. I’ve decided to reholder the book. The seller was understanding and covered the cost. Has any reslabbed a book before? I know they will give me a new label, but does the certification number change? I would assume not since they are not regrading the book.
  18. The new slabs are nice. I’m afraid of doing anything to the book other than switching holders. I’m very happy with my 7.0 grade. The grader notes state: Bottom Back Cover Lite Indent Front Cover Stain Front Cover Tape Pull Left Bottom Back Cover Crease Spine Lite -Stress Lines Whole Book Multiple Bend I'm just glad there are no mentions of rusted staples.
  19. The case is somewhat dirty and has hairline scratches all over but nothing deep other than the obvious. It looks like it would cost over $40 to reholder the book (not including the shipping and insurance fee to send it to CGC). I'm assuming you don't need an upgraded membership to reholder correct?
  20. Here are some more photos. The crack is near the bottom left side area.
