Dirtcheap31 replied to drdonaldblake1's topic in Original Comic Art
Yeah not sure but I would assume if it was sold it would say sold but either it’s value hasent changed in a year and actually has gone up a little I would take those return compared to all other assets since Feb of last year -

Thought the last Ronin pages went for a good price for the buyers especially since that story line is so popular could see that turned into a movie some day. -

I would be scared if I was the consigner of that hush page only at 11k roughly when they paid roughly 66k for it… tough to flip when it was just bought less then a year ago -
The cover is probably the best deal.
-
Oh and also needs to be fresh or semi fresh can be something that’s been sitting on eBay for like a year
-
Usually have decent luck doing auctions this way just has to be in demand items… best results were in middle of the road stuff.. I find I make more on eBay then some auction houses I have sold… sweet spot 500-$3000 pages
-
Still pretty low but I doubt it stays there at least with eBay no buyer’s premium. https://www.ebay.com/itm/155396657885?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=l1XPYyskR-2&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=l1XPYyskR-2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Dirtcheap31 replied to Brian Peck's topic in Original Comic Art
Well if it makes anyone happy I literally did not vote for any of the images above not because their not great just because others caught my eye -
I think that went for a very healthy amount I wonder what that page would have done if it was a hush splash!

The January 2023 HA auction starting to load up
Dirtcheap31 replied to batman_fan's topic in Original Comic Art
I don’t think so could be wrong here but some artists for comics like Frank Miller have been exhibited at the Louvre maybe some comic strip art has as well but not that I am aware of. Some comic strips do have some staying power such as peanuts but comics are known globally and I still think the market will grow as more and more people find out you can own the original pages. What I am concerned about more then the above is artists are going digital and I don’t know if this will make originals more or less valuable or have zero effect. But either way I collect what I love and display important pieces I love so the value although nice and some what important is not the primary driver. My favorite pages I wouldn’t not let go for any amount of money… well maybe not any…:) -
Would love to add a Jim Lee X-Men page this year… or early Andy K
-
Same yeah their were two pieces I sent stuff on as well no response I assume a lot of art does sell on there that is not captured by the reporting… sellers being lazy I bet the reported sales is far less then actual my two cents
-
Added two pages I have been looking for a solid page from the The Last Ronin (tmnt) and a New Mutants dps can’t wait to get them on the wall. Both sellers were great and we worked out deals for both love the event overall as it’s kinda hunting just like any good con. Some stuff pricey some stuff priced a little high and maybe if you wait till the end of the show you get the price you were comfortable with. I love the here is my price to get this off my wall approach as well I wish people would do that with some Tony Moore WD pages

If this is the only OA forum, why isn't everyone here?

For me posting on CAF does a few things one I like the community aspect of “wow nice pick up” and have interacted with some really cool people. But the selfish reason I like to post is so that people see what art I collect and if they have something in that realm a lot of times they will reach out… beats fighting in an auction and allows for trades to potentially happen… the digital art cons have been awesome found a few pages and list some pages I want to let go to upgrade … final thing I like it because it allows you to see who you are buying/selling from/to and how active they are in posting makes it a little easier to vet a seller/buyer like if I am buying a middle of the road page from a seller but the person has a 50k page I doubt he will screw me on my lessor page I am buying or letting go to upgrade
