  1. a pair of real books. the last week or so has seen a great display of all kinds of great books. so to you guys.
  2. if you could demonstrate that Steranko drew in the 40s, you would make Nik's head literally explode.
  3. A barn, but they did suffer for it. Many have foxing as a result. oh, right...Nebraska? maybe it was the O'Reilly's that were in a closet con-sarned late as *##& pedigree book
  4. yeah, one thing to add to all of this is would be that the actual bags/boards one puts their books in is about a tenth as important - if not less - than the actual environment the books are in. i mean, Curator books were stuffed what, 10-12 to a magazine bag and stacked in bricks inside a museum vault? Church's books sat unbagged/boarded in piles in his basement for 30 years... Larson books were what, in a closet somewhere? if you maintain conditions in which there is low temp and low humidity, as long as you're not handling them often, i'd be shocked if you even NEED bags and boards. all the other stuff is just overkill if you can afford to maintain the right temp/humidity conditions
  5. preeeeetty sure the backing board goes into the first Mylite, as the acid-buffering effect of the board won't do much good outside the Mylite. Unless I'm misreading it somehow
  6. According Julie Schwartz, the early B&B and JLA covers did not feature Superman/Batman because he wanted to feature the other characters since supes/bats had their own solo books. i was assuming it was a Dave Cockrum / Wolverine thing where the artist just didn't like the characters all that much and thus left them off
  7. Guardineer Action covers! yaaaaaaay! bigger bigger bigger bigger please k thx
  8. presumably Batman and Superman were on their way over when that cover for 28 was done. or they're around the back of Starro, plotting and scheming
  9. loser I rather be a loser than a teacher i "rather" speak correct English than hopelessly bungle it. WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER
  10. loser I rather be a loser than a teacher i "rather" speak correct English than hopelessly bungle it.
  11. Welcomne to the Board here, here. welcome to the boards!
  12. Nah, that would be EASY. Yeah, so easy they're going for $132,000 Easy to find, if you have the cash. I'm stunned by the Tony Sheridan 45. That's amazing. What's next, an original Declaration of Independence copy? The Magna Charta? i'd be more impressed if he had a "rainbow" copy of that 45. which i'm sure he does
  13. there was an auction last year where the seller had that book in VG for 2.5k on account of the sweepstakes offer. there's no shortage of idjits in the world, that's for sure
  14. my opinion is that the core of what Brad Savage (KK) talks about has some merit, but this is obscured by his hyperbole and myopism. KK wasn't banned because he promotes the collecting of OA. he was banned because he claims, and continues to claim, that buying comics is a waste of time and only a fool would "invest" in comics. it's all about the $$$$ for KK
  15. If I remember correctly, it's November 1951. just now noticed the "11/3" in the lower right corner. breathtaking. a fantastic piece.
  16. sweet! some of those Bringing Up Father strips are out of control...drinking, wife beating, etc used for humorous effect. definitely from another time
  17. i think the only reason - outside of overriding nostalgia - someone wouldn't put Gold as their choice is that they haven't seen very many GA covers. just the sheer breadth and depth of choices in the GA alone make it number one for me
  18. that Peanuts strip is just...oh my... late 1951?
  19. either i have seen this book here before, or there is a run on Ingles Startling purchases around here. either way, it's a welcome sight. nice book
  20. good God almighty. that 78 is just stupid nice. is the back cover as clean as the front? i need to move to Chicago
  21. so now that we know it's not an original, and thus discussing value is no longer vulgar, how much would a nice one go for? just out of curiousity
  22. no worries about me bidding up any of these books. i am on a buying hiatus for the time being, so you have only yourselves to blame
  23. self-portrait? geez, that's eerie
