  1. How often does this contest get run?   Im really new to the whole cgc world though Ive been in comics for :censored: Years (removed to protect my age/sanity).  I will make sure that next time i have a prize to toss into the pile.   Ive just about been able to gather enough time to acutally send my guesses in (one time i even missed that)..    Super fun contest.. and though I wont come even close to the top :roflmao:hopefully ive learned something and had lots of fun .. and been quite surprised on several of these books.. ufh...

  2. I have so many books that "I want to get graded" that I was thinking about the reasoning behind it and figured there are some real differences in what books i want graded for what reasons.. so, here is the question(s) for everyone.

There are lots of books that i would like to have done just to hang on the wall.. that really arent what would be considered to be "HOT" or in demand.. but they are books I just personally like so this isnt about $$$ so yeah yeah i get ACTION #1 in a 10.0 so that's not the point.. this isnt about the value to the general public (other then on question #2).   Its just for fun, I have mine in mind and will voice mine later in here once i can find a few of the pictures.

If you could have any book graded, (meaning you dont have to have the book, this is just a "what if"):

    1. What Regular (any year) book would you have done TO KEEP and why.

    2. What book would you have done to sell later, or speculate, why?

    3. What book and who's autograph would you want to have Signed and graded for SS (to keep), why?

  3. Well id need a picture from a different angle but.. the way it got hit and the way the fender looks on the front as well as the fact it hit the piller for the "Mid-door" area.. so well.. id say that since these cars are typically designed to give so as to not allow anyone to be killed..(ps glad no one was hurt)  and no air bags got deployed meaning the hit wouldnt have damaged the frame .. which would be the most likely reason for 'totalling the car'.. :).  Hard to gets on price as its really dependent on the shops near you..

    1: Not Totalled

2: State farm is pretty good I'd say better then average payout.. with car almost $11k in value.. a payout would be $8500 and shop repair costs of $7750 (both doors the lower lip, possibly the front quarter mirror, rear quarter, Door jam pillar 2 wheel caps)

I'll hope that its totalled and you just get a new car again.. and that the guy has to pay for it :) but.. without the other side being hurt.. and probably no frame damage, they like to fix things instead of just replace the car.. saves cash even if its not much.

I had Black Panther at 8.0, and Torchy at 7.0. What looked a color breaking crease on the BP threw me, and that corner on the Torchy was problematic for me.

yeah the black panther had a huge crease on the right hand side and some issues on the bottom... i didnt come close on it.. i guess that was on the case.. but i even put that in my 'grade' submits..  cause i really guess i was seeing every scratch on the case or whatever it was.. but i graded that Panther book lower then 8 for that reason, and i had the same grade 7.0 on the Torchy..

I didnt figured Id win the contest for sure.> :) i did this more to try and figure out how to grade some of the stuff i have laying around prior to sending it in so i wouldnt be disappointed with what i got back???    so far i see that im still clueless :)

    Hi,

Books that have a signature on an interior page will not be Qualified, and therefore have the writing factored into the grade. An interior signature usually has a very minimal affect on the grade, and a small, neatly-placed signature on an interior page can often still achieve a 9.8 (assuming of course that the book is otherwise a  9.8 already).

Although the book would get a Blue Universal label, it will still state (in lowercase) "Name written on 1st page in pen." (or whichever page it happens to be).

So it doesnt 'give the name' just that something is written there?  or would it say .. Stan Lee written on the first page in pen"

One step in the grading scale equals 1 grade off?

In other words, 1.5 and 1.8 is one grade off, 9.2 and 9.4 is one grade off, etc?

great so im going to be at -2 and -4 :) hahaha  really a cool contest.. will give some insight into what to really look for.. hopefully there will be a little "heres why it was this grade" lessons so I can know what to look for in the future!

  7. ahhh very good to know.. ok that would work too I get the programming nightmare :)  just a thought.. guess i shouldnt ask for the ability to add a picture to the registry for each version of the book :) hehehe

Thanks.. that should help me out with not having to go hunt for books to put in cert numbers etc

    nope!   :golfclap:  (worship)

The challenge is now on to find a second one, so that we will know that this is truly a variant.

I have 6 (guess I should explain.. I got these from the comic distributors when I had a shop, we never put them on the shelf I guess due to the fact that they had 'stickers' on them.. but I did end up with 2nd prints.. so im guessing that we just boxed them to see what the heck the deal was and never did anything with them.... they came out of the Atlanta Diamond Comic Distributor, so if others got there books from there.. they have the potential to have received these as well but not sure if they were "Original order's" or replacements, or reorders or ??)

  9. i also have issues that the Green label is "doomed".. there were tons of Dynamic Forces (for example) autographed books that shops sold and they have a certificate of authenticity.. etc.. now i get that the Gold label SS has to be witnessed and i LIKE that it is strickly monitored.. it should be.. but maybe there should be some sort of other path..

I dont have a clue on PGX.. not even looking.. i do know that you can have a book authenticated via another company but.. everyone says they dont like them as much as CGC either..   I have a bunch of autographed with certificate books.. that im 98% sure are real etc.. but not sure i want to send them off and pay $40+ bucks to have it authenticated and slabbed to sell in a slab that no one likes.. rather just sell it raw.. though it is much harder to do so..

To me.. if i give you the DF cert.. and the hologram.. and the number on the front matches the cert number... a GREEN label should be "OK" if it gives you the grade that CGC would have given the book with a SS gold label if they had seen it.. Right?? and then you either can decide that you trust the DF cert and the Seller.. or.. dont buy it??

One day i guess there will be a good solution.. but i just dont know for now.

  10. I have a question about Static comic the Collector's Edition IS the poly-bag edition, .. the 'regular' edition never had a poly bag.. so am i missing something? or has someone just entered the wrong notes on something and its just stuck?
