Sorry, I didn't mean to expose them in public like that.

Won both of these from the recent Clink auction:
If you have an undercopy of the 118 for sale please let me know.

143ksk purchased these in the last ComicLink auction and then offered them to me when he read in a thread on these boards that I had been bidding on them.

....the start of the brief resurrection...
I think of these Atlas superhero books as the last gasp of the GA, but some people believe that this book is the first real SA comic.
Very nice copy.

That's a great issue. RQ Sale has a place in the comic kingdom all to himself. His run on Combat Casey was .
This should probably be a post all by itself, but I just can't wait. I'm soooo excited about this book. There's a local quarterly show down here that never has anything of much note. I usually walk out with something just for the effort of going. Today, I found the #1 Atlas book on my list. There was another book I reeeeaaally wanted, but not at 6X guide (!) (not an Atlas book). I think this is one of the top 3-5 Heath covers, and I've never seen a decent copy.
Great story Buttock, and an awesome book.

I find it very hard to come across high grade Atlas war books. This may end up being my best one for the year.

This is terrible cover, but it is a Bethlehem copy (pedigrees ):

It has been a slow year for me buying Atlas books. Here the only four I have picked up so far:
I don't usually buy COW, but this one was so cheap that I couldn't resist.

One great thing about Atlas books is that no matter how many titles you have seen, new ones always seem to pop up.

Anybody win any of the hero books on Heritage? I thought the Young Men and the Men's Adventures went for reasonable prices. Most of the others were at the high end of reasonable, but I couldn't believe a few of them:
Black Knight #1, 8.5, $2,150
Black Knight #2, 8.5, $1,135
Captain America 77, 5.0, $1,195 That's a lot of $s for a VG/F
Human Torch 37, 7.0, $1,314
Human Torch 38 8.0, $1,792
Some people wanted these books pretty bad. I'd be interested in other peoples' comments.
Mike
how often you find those in grade.
It's true that you don't see the Black Knights in grade very often, but I didn't think there would be a lot of demand for them. I guess it only takes two to tango. I was also surprised with the Cap in VG/FN. I think that shows the power of this character to command top dollar versus Subby and Human Torch.

You might as well just build them right into the bag.

Heritage has a nice run of Weird Tales pulps ending in two days. They are described as Julius Schwartz copies, but have all been trimmed on the right edge. Is this a big deal for pulp collectors? I really don't know much about them.
Thx, Mike

The other day someone made a special request to see this issue.

I just noticed that these Yellow Claws don't have issue numbers on the covers.

Kudos to buttock for a smooth VCC transaction with strict grading.

These books have some of the best 50's Kirby work. Very far out stuff, I would say that Jack was about 10 years ahead of his time with some of the graphic layouts he did in YC.
I'm with you AtlasFan, especially the combination of Kirby/Severin in YC 4.

Is it just me, or are these Yellow Claw books that hard to find!!!
In high grade I NEVER see them!!! Does anybody else have any???
CGC Census
#1 - 7 copies graded - highest is 7.0
#2 - 3 copies graded - highest 9.0 then 6.5
#3 - 4 copies graded - highest 9.0
#4 - 4 copies graded - highest 8.5
I have never seen a really high grade copy. Heritage had a nice set of mid grades last year, but they were too rich for my blood.
It really isn't that uncommon for these Atlas books to be very hard to find in grade. Look at the Mystery Tales 15 I posted - 6 graded copies, highest 9.0 and then an 8.0 and a 7.0. Mine would probably be an 8.5. I think that we just notice more for Yellow Claw because there are only four of them and they are desirable because of the cool covers (the stories aren't so great).
The Strange Tales #9 only has two graded copies - 8.5 and 5.0. There are, however, some high grade, ungraded pedigrees floating around so these numbers can be a little deceiving.

anyone going after any of the Super hero atlas books in heritage (toronto collection)?
I've been thinking about picking one up. They are pretty expensive and Heritage always seems to bring out the aggressive bidders.

John was just putting the sign up for me since he knows I would want it.
This one is much better.

This is the first book I have purchased at an LCS for a very long time. Picked it up in Toronto while on a business trip. Black covered picture frame.
