  1. One thing I've done in the past (only as a short term solution) is place several layers of backing board on one end of the box and then stand it up on it's end so it's erect like a pe...err, skyscraper. I also alternate my books front to front, back to back, otherwise the staple side is thicker than the flip side of the books. Alternatively, depending on how many books are in a box, just lay them flat until you have enough books to stand them. Or stand the books normally and then lay a 100 pack of boards on it's side preventing the books from sliding or falling over.
  2. You can use the turn around rates topic to get a general idea from other users of how long it should take to see updates to your submission.
  3. They'd probably just redirect you to the website https://www.cgccomics.com/submit/services-fees/cgc-grading/
  4. No exact answer, but you can use the thread below to give you a better idea.
  5. I recently saw a black sketch cover Cable and Ghost Rider variants. I'm wondering, are there any glow in the dark inks that could be used on these covers?
  6. For what it's worth, I wear gloves when handling/reading all my books now.
  7. Funny, I was thinking the same thing about McFarlane. When it comes to drawing people, there's always been something about them that i've never really liked. I'm not even sure what it is exactly. But when it comes to his costumed hero work, they're undoubtedly cool. I love how he made Spider-Man's eyes bigger for example. Or how dynamic the artwork/poses look. He's top 10 for sure, but I wouldn't place him in my personal #1.
  8. JRJR penciled ASM for 3 years in the 2000s. I grew up with Bagley Spider-Man so he's my #1.
  9. No, I've had two foil books (Wonder Woman #26 SDCC and Wonder Woman #1 NYCC) pressed in the past without issue.
  10. You can mark to have the book pressed by CCS if you wish. In which case, the book is signed and taken away by CCS/CGC as it normally would for a Signature Series book. Only it will go to CCS for pressing first. Alternatively, if you know of an authorized presser, they can maintain the chain of authentication and then submit to CGC.
  11. Is "variant" really the proper descriptor here? To me, a variant indicates that the publisher has intentionally released a separate copy. But there doesn't seem to be any accounts of Marvel doing such a thing. Instead, this sounds like a production flaw with the hologram sheets. http://www.recalledcomics.com/Wolverine75HologramErrors.php
  12. If this thread has taught me anything, it's that all the books I've thought were 10s, are indeed 10s. I demand CGC fix this egregious error.
  13. I've gone standard bag and boards for moderns. My oldest books have been in bags for 20+ years. I think storage climate plays a part in how quickly bags start to deteriorate. I've bought some older books from people in bags that clearly needed to be replaced (you could tell based on texture and color). All I'm saying is that I think the notion of changing every 5 years is a bit preposterous. I've transitioned to Mylites/FBs/Archival bags for any books of value. Beyond that, the next step are the few graded books I own. Not sure how much the Mylites/FBs cost in bulk, but I've started to wonder if I should replace all of my books from standard bags/boards to Mylites, but that would require me to buy nearly 3500 and I don't even want to think about the math on that (or the time required to switch. And for what it's worth, for my modern books, I use Current size Thick bags. I found the normal current size bags to be too tight, especially for 96 page anniversary books. The thick bags are perfect for two books back to back separated by two boards (which is great since I store all my books back to back because it puts less stress on the spines).
  14. This is worrisome. I've often wondered how detailed the graders are when it comes to interiors, especially, older, more fragile books. This makes me wonder what else they've possibly missed. It's ironic that they can flag a book for the slightest color touch, but when the interior doesn't match the exterior, it gets missed/ignored.
  15. I've been here 3 years and I'm now finally learning who you guys meant everytime you said Voldemoort. I always thought you were referring to PeeGeeEcks. Which now leads me to wonder, if SeeBeeSeeEss is Voldie, then what's PeeGeeEcks?
  16. Oh you were serious about selling it? I totally thought you were joking. Seems like a fantastic piece, but I guess everything has a price.
  17. Oh god, I know of the Avengers one, but how many of these Wednesday variants did they make? They're terrible.
  18. I do. Who wants to donate money to me? :P
  19. As someone who regrets getting a few books signed and is now looking for raw/blue label versions, I recommend buying a 2nd copy of the book where possible and having that one signed instead. Then you keep your blue label collection of 9.8s intact.
  20. As discussed previously, GPA excludes eBay's fees. The sales on 7/3 and 6/22 were on eBay and were probably subject to the 10% fees. That means the sellers pocketed $1,552.50 and $1,435.50. Given that, OP's transaction would have occurred via Facebook Marketplace (which does not charge any fees), the only fees the seller would have been subject to may be PayPal fees (let's assume 4%) which nets $1,536 to the seller. That hardly sounds like a lowball offer when compared to the eBay transactions. Besides, as mentioned in this thread, it's a starting point that the buyer works up from. But the seller wasn't even willing to entertain it and instead mocked the buyer. Given that someone posted the book for sale for $1,750 from an LCS with an online presence, I'd much rather take my money and buy from them than deal with some d'bag seller.
  21. Lol. What a <bleep>. Too bad we can't add him to a probation/HoS list here.
