  1. I mean, I know it's a dig at DC moving their releases to Tuesday, but I feel the execution of the joke could have been better. I kinda want DC to do a variant of their next Justice League book that simply says "On Sale Tuesday". Maybe then i'll buy the two variants. Imagine someone being a modern Avengers collector and having to slab that book to maintain their registry collection.
  2. Avengers #34: "What if the Avengers were all bombarded by Gamma rays?"
  3. I don't buy them. I buy books I enjoy reading, and prefer owning 1st prints. I think it's because I'm old.
  4. I subscribe to the idea of beginning negotiations at 10% below eBay sold prices (if there are any) to account for the absence of eBay fees. The hope is that you meet somewhere in the middle, but I'm generally willing to go as high as GPA. If they're looking for more, I walk away. Given the current state of the economy, I've been more frugal with what I spend money on which has made walking away easier.
  5. I will always be bothered by 2nd, 3rd, 4th prints (etc) getting so much attention. These books come out months after the 1st print and should thus not be allowed to count as a 1st appearance or key book. They should be no different than re-prints. I have a re-print of Incredible Hulk #181...should that still count as the 1st appearance of Wolverine? Any value is purely a matter of rarity.
  6. Was really hoping for a Rebels follow up, but I have faith in Filoni.
  7. Be careful with that smoke detector...Godzilla might breathe fire and set it off.
  8. wrong sub-forum https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/42-hey-buddy-can-you-spare-a-grade/
  9. I'm relatively new to the hobby so I can pretty much guarantee I have nothing worthy of trade value. That's a great page from a seminal run though. GLWTS.
  10. Most of the ones i've seen are green. I think there's a small group of collectors who value the blue due to it's rarity.
  11. What do you mean by "crystal fleck"? Like this Chromium cover?
  12. https://desertwindcomics.com/contact/ In my experience, Desert Wind is a little slow with responses. I've emailed and called and it's just a matter of patience and persistence.
  13. Too bad they're "collectible card games" and I thus treated them like you would expect a 12 year old to treat any other game. Literally none of my early Magic cards would grade higher than a 7 I imagine.
  14. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Working as intended.
  15. I actually thought eBay was 10%. Anyway, have repeatedly said people don't need to be lower on these boards, although my personal opinion is that they should. Cut your boardies a break. But some guy said he likes to go 20% over eBay on here. I personally think that's messed up, but for the purposes of this thread, it's in the realm of reasonableness. Anyway, people can charge whatever they want. That was never the issue. eBay fees with regards to comics are 10% (unless you are classified as a business or have a large enough number of monthly sales...I think). https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/selling-fees?id=4364
  16. I don't have GPA, but the original auction that brought this all about had a list price 200% higher than the most recent eBay sale. I do acknowledge that other sales could have occurred that I don't have visibility into. I also acknowledge that the market is continually shifting and that prices do fluctuate. Lastly, there was only one comparable book available for sale. The seller could use this as justification claiming "rarity" was a factor in the list price.
  17. (EDIT: for the record, I was looking for a gif of Channing Tatum dancing to My Pony, but instead that was one of the first ones that came up.)
  18. Facebook is about patience and luck. (I suppose you could say the same about eBay.) At least when it comes to auctions, you're looking at a very small set of buyers and then an even smaller group who have the money or are actually interested in the same book as you. I once lucked out and bought an ASM 300 CGC SS book on auction because I happened to be the only interested buyer and was thus able to get it at the starting price. The other half of the equation, at least with regards to raws, is developing confidence in a random Facebooker to grade conservatively. That said, I've witnessed far too many auctions where mundane moderns go for much higher than alternative sites simply because two or three people get into a bidding war. To be fair, when it comes to valuation based off of eBay, one should never look at list price...only sold.
  19. There's a lot to take in here, but I am of the state of mind that sellers should be more accommodating of 10% discounts on the boards when compared to that one auction site. I fully agree that sellers can and should price whatever they want. But if the book is selling on said auction site for $300, then I feel something like $285 should be a reasonable offer (as it splits the auction fees in half so that the buyer and seller both save money). I've put out such offers with said explanation and been rejected. At which point I just move on.
  20. Sorry to ruin your fun in that other thread. I see it's created an entire separate discussion though.
  21. I could be wrong, but I think it's generally a faux pas to question a sellers list price publicly. If you feel the price is too high and want to make a more reasonable offer, that type of communication should probably be conducted via PM.
  22. And then you watch The Clone Wars and Rebels and accept the faults of the Prequel Trilogy because The Clone Wars is pure magnificence.
  23. https://jscottcampbell.com/products/harley-quinn-75-jsc-exclusive?utm_campaign=Harley Quinn %2375 TEASER (YA6HFZ)&utm_medium=email&utm_source=J Scott Campbell VIP List&_ke=eyJrbF9lbWFpbCI6ICJjYmJnZWZhY2VAaG90bWFpbC5jb20iLCAia2xfY29tcGFueV9pZCI6ICJIcm5OQ1kifQ%3D%3D I've been deleting the JSC emails without even opening them, but the fact that Harley Quinn was up issue #75 caught my attention. I just didn't realize that the current run had gotten that high. Now, I've kinda stopped buying JSC exclusive covers, but then I saw this was Harley vs Punchline. The covers themselves aren't anything over the top special (still not as breathtaking as the Black Cat "Le Chat Noir" cover), but the contents do seem intriguing. Then I saw the price (of the Premium unsigned). Easy nope for me. Honestly surprised there isn't some cover D wraparound edition for $100.
