  1. Lol ok I’ll gladly take a large split center of spine for a 3.5 like that haha. Looks like a 6.0+
  2. Man I love seeing monster keys like this raw and unslabbed. They look great
  3. Oooh i didn’t know I don’t need to cut where the inner well is…’open’. Just inside the weld. TIL! I’ve cracked a few books before, didn’t know I could cut that far away from it
  4. This seems like it might be tricky. Plenty of room at the top, but toward the bottom of the right edge the book is pretty much flush in the inner well…. Not sure there is a safe way to get this out
  5. Well now I’m even more tempted. This little flap on the spine, I want to fold it back down…
  6. Sometimes I get the itch…they look so much better in some Mylar… Most of my ASM books are raw. I have two slabbed (14 and 3). It bothers me. I want to release them to be with their ASM brothers. But cracking books is stressful. This is a first world problem.
  7. So excited to have this one. Thanks to @jbpezfor the great price and excellent shipping!
  8. I agree, and have also started on the Avengers run (I only have number 1 so far lol) and the older the books the less concerned I am with the grade. I just want to own some history.
  9. I have slowly become less OCD about my books, especially big Silver Age or older books. Page quality, small tears, stains that do not affect the primary art work, etc do not bother me like they used to which feels quite freeing and opens up a lot of options for me as I expand my collection. There are some things I try and avoid still, like random names on cover or tape (and rusted staples are right out), but going for a nice CR/OW Silver Age with a couple light stains would have been an absolute pass for me a couple years back. I focus on overall presentation and eye appeal now. What about you guys?
  10. Starting up on Spidey books again, this was the first one I wanted to knock off the list!
  11. Yeah I think I talked myself out of it overnight. This is a beautiful 5.0 (imo) and I should probably not mess with it. I do want it in a CGC Spidey slab tho
  12. Maybe it will be worth it. I’m not sure if a dry clean would lift that spot on the front. From the scan it looks like it is either dirt or grease and I’m not super familiar with dry cleaning tbh
  13. I ordered a 5.0 ASM 3 yesterday, notes say ‘soiling on cover’. It’s not here yet in hand but I have a good scan, looks like a dirt smudge or something. (By docs leg) is this kind of thing worth sending in for a clean? It’s not graded by cgc and I want to get it in a Spidey label at some point. It displays so well that I don’t care really, just want to see if I could get a potential grade bump if I crack and send it to cgc with a clean and press.
  14. Moved to grading and resto board
  15. Ordered this 5.0 from ‘the other guys’ yesterday (cropped it so I don’t get in trouble). I think it looks so nice (small stain by doc’s leg is really the only thing). It hasn’t even shipped yet but I’m too excited to wait to post going to rebuild my ASM collection starting with this guy!
  16. Guess it depends on if you want to sell it at some point. I could see myself sending mine in if they get a fancy Dr Doom label (not the Scottie Young one) but shipping $20k books is stressful. Where are the water spots? EDIT: Oh I see, on Reed’s word bubble? If so that is quite minor
  17. Wow this is a super nice 3.0. Seems under graded, at least based on the front cover in this pic
