someone wants the best of the best at whatever cost. I've seen the same results on some non-key highest grade Tecs on HA
Yes...I was quite interested in lots of those hg Tecs...but held off...prices very high IMO. Congrats to buyer and seller both!

Anyone have a pic of how "pink" pages look? Curious to see how it looks. Also, how on earth did it turn pink? Was it through the reds of the cover somehow that may have bled through the pages causing it to turn pink i'm guessing?
It's my understanding that Fox used pink newsprint to cut costs occasionally...

I will call Vince tomorrow and make arrangements.
There's no messing with Rick...he has left a sad trail of disappointed bidders behind him...

Those book are beautiful however where does "Pink" PG sit on the spectrum? Don't think I've seen that before. Is it a +/- on a book?
I'm not certain but weren't some of the PLs printed on pink pages? Those are both killer books!

I was initially thinking that the auction result looked rather weak considering the classic cover and how nice it presented relative to its assigned grade.
Then I noticed all of the notes and like DK here, felt that this is what really killed the price of the book in the end. Still a fair price considering all of the noted defects on the label.
Well, I thought the 35 ended tomorrow...when I asked the question I didn't realize that the auction had ended and was looking for perspective on the book to determine what my final bidding strategy was going to be....and I ended up winning it with my bid that stuck for the past week or so. Lucky for me it did not spike up as I really wanted in on the 35. I saw the notes but like that it is a blue label and presents well. I'm happy with it!

Is it possible that it just might not have any of the tell tale Reilly codes on it or did all of the books from this pedigree collection come with the designated codes without any exceptions?
FYI I have the Bats 15 and World's Finest 10 Reilly books (both CGC'd as SF copies). Neither have the name stamp on the back, although the WF has a date code on fc. Unsure if there was a difference between the books he picked up himself vs. those his parents bought after he went off to the service.

Nicely done! I came up empty.

those are all May 1941 books so there should be a cap 3 up there as well. I see Superman 10, which isnt too bad for a dime. I would love to have the Wonderworld 24 which is also sitting too long but the Subby was published quarterly so maybe not so odd for it to be there.
I think that is Tec 50, which is also slightly "leftover"...we should go in the time machine and take those old books off that guys hands for a nickel each so he can be current...

From the record setting prices realized for these 3 books, it would appear that the bidders were astute enough to buy the book, as opposed to buying the label.
Very true!!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, these boards are awesome!
It’s been a weird month of second chance books for me.
Planet Comics #5! Arrived today. Less than 11 months ago I purchased my first Planet Comics book ever, a copy of issue 11. Now I have a full set of “rivet” issues with the arrival of #5 today!
I’ll probably try to post a pic of all 22 together soon. I just love these books.
Super impressive run!! Congrats!
