So is WD #61 being credited with the first appearance or not? I was only wondering as the price seems to be creeping up on that one.
People are pushing it as such. In reality, it's a preview. If this is considered the first appearance, then Savage Dragon 102 would be considered the first appearance of Invincible and not Noble Causes Family Secrets 3.
If people want to consider it a first app, that's fine with me as I still have a few I could sell.

I would if it wasn't on my sub. Damn good story in #1.

Layman has said it's going to be the same cover with a different logo color.
-
True, but a few copies sold before that slabbed copy at $50. I'm sure that seeing that 9.8 out there listed at 300 helped though.
-
Holy mess. These are going for $50 now. Wow. What happened?

what makes Walking Dead #49 special? Am I missing something? I have it so thank goodness
Nothing in the story. It was the issue right after the 8th trade which was the exciting ending of the huge prison arc. Since many people followed that story, they switched over to singles to pick up where the 8th trade left of. The number of regular issues put out stayed the same while the number of monthly readers increased. Therefore, demand on that issue bumped up while supply was the same as previous singles.

Snagged the last 2 WD 61 from my comic shop today. IMO WD 61 will have some extra value for the insert story but its too easy to find to soar in value past the under ordered Chew #1
In the long run, I don't think that the preview will have any effect on the value of TWD 61. Savage Dragon #102, the Masters of the Universe book, and isn't there another one with the Invincible #1 preview??? None of those have any value.
With that being said, I'm hoping it will have some added value because of the insert in the short term because I've got a copy up on ebay for $12.99. I bought 4 extra copies of #61 because there's a new character and it's the first issue after a trade. #49 was tough to find, #55 is not.

For a first issue, it's damn good. Art is really good too.

There are a bunch on Ebay right now. I picked it up at my lcs and I will continue to buy it for at least the current story arc. I just don't see this as having the staying power or cult following that The Walking Dead has.
That's my thoughts as well, but of course, it's too early to tell. The concept is pretty far out there as far as being a long term smash hit comic book, but then again, so was a zombie comic when it first came out. IMO, one thing that this book does have over TWD in the beginning is better art.

Ah, gotcha.

or Village Comic Club.
Where is that? I've never even heard of it. Greenshift is awesome.

you guys remember Viking # 1 ? didn't they go for $20-$30 when it fist came out? And now first prints are back to $3-$5
Are you sure Viking 1 sold for that much? I've always seen them at $2.99. I never noticed a spike at all.
The difference between this book and Viking is that this book is well-written where Viking had some writing problems in the first few pages. With Chew, I've heard nothing but praise while the reviews on Viking are below average.
With that being said, I doubt the price will remain as high as it is now on Chew.
BTW, what store do you go to in Tampa? None of the stores here seemed to order any (like usual on new Image books). My copy of Chew I think was the only one that Demolition ordered.

If those print run numbers are correct, then yes it would be more "rare", but probably not more valuable. For instance, you rarely see a second print of TWD #2, but when you do see it, it sells for a fraction of the much more common first print. Stranger things have happened though.
