  1. Thanks guys! I'm up over 200 and counting. I'm not sure who did that Billy the Kid cover. I can see where it has similarities of many funny animal covers of the time, even to the one I posted above, but I doubt it's Cole. Even when Cole drew horses he usually drew the anthropomorphic ones like real ones (see above!). He loved horses. Really, lots of artists were able to draw those "cutsie" looking animals with those big eyes and what not. I also don't know if he ever did any work for Fawcett. If I come across any info on this I'll post it though!
  2. Thanks guys. It does present pretty well. No chipping but of course I do wish it was brighter. If I knew then what I knew now, I'd have bought an AF 15 and waited to get this one. I had a dream of getting an AF 15 in at least this grade, but that dream is loooooooooong gone now with the way that book has shot up in value.
  3. Better late than never! I've been wanting to post this one for a while, but needed to take a pic of it. It's only a camera phone pic, sorry no scan. I got this from Showcase New England maybe 8 years ago off of ebay and it finished off my ASM run. Whadda think? If I remember I'll post a pic of my ASM 1 Golden Record reprint book too. That one is ungraded but like a 7.5, a really nice book. So I've got the real thing CGC'd and a readable copy from that era to flip through. And of course I have it reprinted in like 12 other places too.
  4. I've seen a few of them, not the gator cover. He edited a TON of those style of mags. I haven't picked up any yet. Yet, of course, being the key word there. If I'm not getting comics I'd rather get some of his other digest covers as most are even older than his comic work. So much time, so little $$$...
  5. Again, not high grade but the price was right! SPOOK #29 CRIME-FIGHTING DETECTIVE #16 (under $10 + sh) GUNS AGAINST GANGSTERS #1
  6. Just got in my copy of Night Nurse #1, and a few nice freebies! Thanks a lot! Hope to buy from you again!
  7. Cool! Don't recall seeing one of these here. Love the cover text in the shadow. Great colors and angle. Nice book! LD
  8. Me neither! I'll have to add them to the list. Lost out on a Terifying Tales #11 last night.
  9. Fantastic pickup! Even a pretty cool date stamp. This one is a Silver / Bronze border book but I have been wanting it for a long time and just grabbed it off the boards this week:
  10. Thanks man. I can take more pics of the inside if you want. I'm very happy with it!
  11. That's a very cool splash on the Fourth Musketeer! Primary colors gone mad! I also like that Cap ad! Sorry some kid went nuts with a crayon all over it, but still - nice pickup!
  12. Ok, here are a few that I had been wanting for a long time, and I'm willing to bet that at least one of them haven't been in this thread yet.... FILM STARS ROMANCES #1. Love the colors on this book, and the film like logos: FLAMING WESTERN ROMANCES #3. There has been one on ebay, but it's a bit too miscut for my tastes. This one seems like a nicer copy: And for the crappiest pic, but still a coop book, CRIMINALS ON THE RUN V.2 #5:
  13. Nice pickup! I love this cover, especially the use of color.
  14. Let's see.... just grabbed this one last night, TERRORS OF THE JUNGLE #21. That's LB Cole's daughter on the cover: I got some other goods, but I need to move some pics around. Be back later
  15. Thanks Squeggs! I could have done w/o the date stamp, but at that price I'll take it. I've filled up a lot of holes in my Cole runs lately. I've gotta find a way to scan a few issues and sell some under copies... I'm waiting for 1 more box to arrive and then I'll be posting a few more winners in this thread as well. Stay tuned! (thumbs u
  16. From last night's Heritage auction I snagged a Jungle Thrills #16!!! http://comics.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=121310&lotNo=12233 There were a handful on Cole covers up for grabs, including some nice lots of books. However congrats to whoever got the BB Ghostly Weird Tales #122 off the bay last night. I was the under bidder on that one!
  17. Ok, I just got the above THRILLING CRIME #45 in the mail and I couldn't be happier with it! It's beautiful! And so I celebrated by pulling the trigger on 3 more Cole covers! It looks like another collector was selling his Cole stuff and I'm gonna give them a new home: TOP LOVE STORIES #3 (The run's #1) TOP LOVE STORIES #16 TOP LOVE STORIES #17
  18. Wow! Any chance of seeing the whole story? Whoa. Yeah, I'd love to see what she did to provoke this tool into torching her. What, did she burn the roast?
