65K? Wow. That's one of the larger personal collections I've heard of. CONGRATS! I hit over 20,000 comics according to my ComicBase DB last year so I likely have another few hundred now. I also have a few animation cels, a few hundred statues and busts, original art, dozens of action figures (that are still in boxes because I can't find a place to display them in my newer house) and all kinds of other . I still get comics weekly so the collection is constantly growing. For the most part I stopped hunting silver age and up books and just read new stuff and golden age books now. But I still buy Bowen busts / statues and get a few commissioned pieces done on the side too. I've even slowed down with that as I'm running out of room. I've got stuff I don't even have room to display now!

I once won a STARTLING TERROR TALES #12 in FN+ condition, and the seller sent it in no bag or board, between 2 pieces of taped cardboard. By the time it got to me the book's spine had hit the tape and ruined the black cover. I returned it and still haven't found another copy. For that reason, I'm always cautious about bidding on comics sold by non-comic book sellers. They either ignore requests for proper packaging or, as in your case, their attempts to package well do more harm than good. Yeah, that's a smart move. This must have been 12-13 years ago, when I was just beginning to get into golden age stuff. Yep, been looking to snag another mid-grade copy of that comic for THAT long!

Thanks! I saw that Terrors 21. Killer copy by lbcolefan I think... ...which this comic certainly isn't. However for under $10 I'll have a placeholder for when a better one comes on the market: Kind of like when you see those "before and after" commercials, just look to the right side of the screen. Now I just need 2 more issues to complete this run. Hopefully I'll have more on that front soon - and now I've got one of the 2 eyeball covers! I wonder what it would cost to get this spine restored. Anybody have a clue?

Fantastic pickups! These are 2 issues that have continued to elude me thus far. One that is perhaps Cole's best horror cover and another with his daughter on the cover. Well done sir!!!

Well done. That Confessions of Romance 7 can be a pain to find in higher grade, same with that Love #4. I think my copies are somewhat similar. I'll be posting a group shot when my #11 arrives! WOOHOO! Now... what's next?

Not only did I bid like 3x what is sold for because I really wanted it, but I emailed the seller last week and offered him $50. Hey - I tried! That seller listed even more today too. He's got 1 I may try to snag but I'm not too sure I like that book's grade. Happy hunting!

I'm a huge LB Cole fan and I love the SUSPENSE and CONTACT covers, but once you throw something like Fiction House titles or Startling Comics it's really gonna be a throwdown!

HA! Yeah, that's my Bowen Surtur mini-bust and my Bowen Eternity mini-bust. Prior to displaying the romance books I had a few Blue Bolt Weird tales and my Shocking Mystery #50 there. I was thinking of putting a few different statues there but wasn't sure what so until I can think of something new they'll have to stay. Yeah that 4 Fav is kinda crude but fun. Cole did use those floating heads a few times, so it is a bit like his work. Although it's kinda odd, as it looks like those heads are almost cheering the soldier on. I'm hoping maybe Cole did some interior work in this ish too!

Keep in mind that doesn't include some pulp covers, and some that haven't arrived yet and I'm sorry that they overlap so much but it's tough to display so much at the same time.
