Got this "Spider-geddon" piece from artist Thony Silas. Style is a little different from my usual purchases, but I love the Spider guys and gals, and this was dynamic and bold. I haven't gotten any color pieces before and its quite large (~16x23), so it's different all around for me really. It really impressed me in person (the copics look fantastic), however the central figure had some whites splotches on it that are distracting and weren't present in the scan i saw, and a bit of an eyesore for me personally. Is this common? Should i be upset by this? Is this something that can be 'touched up' locally?

Thanks for the replies everyone

So I finally see something on Comiclink I'm interested in. My question is what's the best approach for their site? Do they finish at a certain time like Ebay, or do they extend based on bidding? I think I also recall recently people having trouble getting bids in at the end of the auctions? Any insight appreciated

The Next Generation of All-Star ARTISTS ???
awayne83 replied to AKA Rick's topic in Original Comic Art
Oh man, to me there's a lot of great young talent right now, especially internationally. Pepe Larraz Paulo Siqueiro Robson Rocha Jorge Jimenez Javi Fernandez Hendry Prasetya Russell Dauterman Will Sliney Victor Bogdanovic Unfortunately, most of these guys are digital or inked digitally due to logistics. Also some love for Joelle Jones Clay Mann Mateo Scalera (best commissions in the business imo) Dustin Weaver Rafael Albuquerque David Marquez Philp Tan Mahmud Asrar -
Art behind glass: Show off your framed art!
awayne83 replied to Stronguy's topic in Original Comic Art
Cool piece. I think it turned out well. Couple questions: 1. Did you go with at thicker ply mat board since it's a single (hard to tell from the pic) and 2. Is it mounted with the corner hangers? I want to frame some more of mine, but the last time more of the art board got covered up than I would've preferred. -
Lol. It's all good. I just wanted to point out that mindset wasn't all encompassing. Social etiquettes by nature vary from culture, setting, generation etc. I also didn't mean to single you out (others made similar comments) but you were the only one open to dialogue it seems, so naturally the conversation steered your way. I'm all for free and open internet!! Keep the comments (and opinions!!) coming!

Maybe shaming was the wrong term. Is finger wagging more appropriate? The point is you felt necessary to jump in to a situation op could have easily handled himself. And no, i don't think what you said was harsh, just unnecessary. Lastly the person who questioned is certainly not entitled to an answer, that much we can agree on, but just bringing it up is not the faux pas some of you are making it out to be, imo of course.
-
I mean, once it gets brought up in a public forum you kind of open yourself up to it imo. And i believe the issue in question was others shaming said poster and not allowing op to respond in kind. I feel like this is more of a generational thing as well, as I'm much more open about purchases/finances etc than my parents were (that was not cool even within my household growing up lol).

That's awesome (!!) and a great idea. Never even considered having that done before.

That artist edition is great. It also includes all the cover work Turner did for DC (Flash, Supergirl, IC) during that time

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience as well. It was actually a Clay Mann cover. He posted 2 for sale. I've been keeping an eye out for over a year for a piece to add, and probably my 2nd favorite one pops up for sale so i was excited. Was even willing to overpay (imo) to get the deal done. Sucks, but they'll be something else that comes along.

Had a bad experience from a seller on Ebay recently, and wanted to give potential buyers a head's up. ebay ID j**r***a Jorge Osorio Mendez A certain cover went up for sale that I had an eye on last year, and i had initially seen it on CAF. I contacted the guy through CAF email because i wanted to verify it was legit, as he had bad feedback from a previous sale. He insured me he was "well known" and had been dealing in comic art for "years", and seemed insulted I even brought it up. He also had another piece of his from CAF for sale on Ebay, so i figured I'd give it a shot because it was a piece i really wanted. I won't bore you with the negotiations (which were also painfully annoying), but i ended up just BIN, and was told he would ship out the following week. Nothing. No response to emails, no tracking. Radio silence after that. I even waited extra to make sure something didn't happen to the guy. I figure some on here may be familiar with him if he's been in the game awhile, so either this guy is just a real tool, or someone is faking his identity and he should probably be notified (unlikely since i contacted him separately from ebay, and his Paypal account info matched). More upset because I missed out on a favorite piece of mine than the actual headache of the failed purchase tbh.

Didn't really want to start a different thread for this, so I'll ask here. Does Fanfare ever have any sales? I recently came across some Immonen pages I'm interested in, but they are from several years ago and i have other financial obligations atm, so not exactly priority for me right now. Thanks

So i recently moved my modest collection into an itoya. Was i wrong in thinking this alone was sufficient to keep? These comments make me feel like that alone is not adequate
