Regarding copic colors, they do look great when applied. However, they are not archival and will fade. The best you can do is keep them out of the light.

    From their website:

▼ Will Copic ink on artwork fade over time?
Dyes are artificial material made through chemical processes and are not usually as archival as pigment products.
In general, dyes are susceptible to ultraviolet rays. Copic inks are a dye and Copic-colored images will fade under direct sunlight or fluorescent light. If your artwork with Copic will be put up in well-lighted area, it is better to seal it with a UV blocking seal.

    So be careful.

Thanks for the info. Will keep that in mind. Still debating on whether to have the piece touched up, so for now its stowed away safely

  2. So I finally see something on Comiclink I'm interested in. My question is what's the best approach for their site? Do they finish at a certain time like Ebay, or do they extend based on bidding? I think I also recall recently people having trouble getting bids in at the end of the auctions? Any insight appreciated

Here is my attempt to add some context to my framed art. Interested in any feedback...

Cool piece. I think it turned out well. Couple questions: 1. Did you go with at thicker ply mat board since it's a single (hard to tell from the pic) and 2. Is it mounted with the corner hangers? I want to frame some more of mine, but the last time more of the art board got covered up than I would've preferred.

Oddly, from this board's first day live to the present, that's how it has worked. Someone posts something they are inviting commentary, judgment, and (perhaps) disagreement as to what they posted, not from just their intended conversational target, but from everyone. If they didn't want to invite commentary on what they posted then they'd send it privately.

This board has always, from year 1, self-administered, without requirement that only the person targeted by a post be the only one who can respond. Which is exactly what you've done, preempting the guy who asked for the inside dirt on an art deal publicly, and finger-wagging when he could have easily handled it himself. Which is completely fine of you to do. That is the social construct of these boards and that's always been especially true in the "social faux pas" arena.

Everyone, at any time, can feel free to "jump into a situation" because they are posted for all to see on a discussion board. And if you re-read my post on this topic (forever to be known as "finger-wagging post exhibit: A" lol ) you'll see I mentioned that he asked a question best left to being asked in private. That's pretty much it. Maybe he didn't know there'd be some objection to asking it publicly, but he does now. Knowing what's what is always better than being left in the dark, regardless of how polite the dark might be.

Lol. It's all good. I just wanted to point out that mindset wasn't all encompassing. Social etiquettes by nature vary from culture, setting, generation etc. I also didn't mean to single you out (others made similar comments) but you were the only one open to dialogue it seems, so naturally the conversation steered your way. I'm all for free and open internet!! Keep the comments (and opinions!!) coming!

What was brought up in a public forum? Someone asked what Spider-man cover he owned. He pointed to his CAF. He didn't sign a waiver to all privacy regarding the transaction because he linked to his CAF gallery.

On my part there was no "shaming" the poster who asked him what he paid, and how much was cash and how much was trade. I pointed out the lack of discretion in the question and the inappropriate nature of asking a stranger to disclose private business transactions in this setting and did so in the most lighthearted way possible. That's not shaming. My correction was to point out that desire to know something isn't the same thing as being entitled to know it. And, really, someone would have to have egg shell thin feelings to get them bruised by my pointing that out the way I did.

I don't believe displaying the common courtesy of minding boundaries between complete strangers on significant money being spent in private transactions is "generational". It's actually pretty much timeless.

Maybe shaming was the wrong term. Is finger wagging more appropriate? The point is you felt necessary to jump in to a situation op could have easily handled himself. And no, i don't think what you said was harsh, just unnecessary. Lastly the person who questioned is certainly not entitled to an answer, that much we can agree on, but just bringing it up is not the faux pas some of you are making it out to be, imo of course.

Do people do that? Ask total strangers for private details of business transactions and seek a public answer? Do they think it's appropriate?

I mean, once it gets brought up in a public forum you kind of open yourself up to it imo. And i believe the issue in question was others shaming said poster and not allowing op to respond in kind. I feel like this is more of a generational thing as well, as I'm much more open about purchases/finances etc than my parents were (that was not cool even within my household growing up lol).

I want to get that Superman/Batman artist edition one day. I like the artwork in that first issue and some of the other pages. Witchblade from what I remember was really well drawn. Same goes for that Witchblade and Tomb Raider crossover issue. I saw some so so quality head sketches in one of his hardcovers that made me want to stick to original artwork. But some artists don't make the best sketches at times with markers. I read some where that his art was priced not to sell or for people that really wanted it. I think it was on an official Aspen forum.

That artist edition is great. It also includes all the cover work Turner did for DC (Flash, Supergirl, IC) during that time

I have bought from him before.  I assume it was a Gary Frank Superman piece of some sort?  Terrible seller, I got my piece but I had all kinds of problems that he promised to fix but did not.  He also appears to have a short memory because he periodically approaches me every few years to sell me stuff.  I stay away.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience as well. It was actually a Clay Mann cover. He posted 2 for sale. I've been keeping an eye out for over a year for a piece to add, and probably my 2nd favorite one pops up for sale so i was excited. Was even willing to overpay (imo) to get the deal done. Sucks, but they'll be something else that comes along.

  10. Had a bad experience from a seller on Ebay recently, and wanted to give potential buyers a head's up.

A certain cover went up for sale that I had an eye on last year, and i had initially seen it on CAF. I contacted the guy through CAF email because i wanted to verify it was legit, as he had bad feedback from a previous sale. He insured me he was "well known" and had been dealing in comic art for "years", and seemed insulted I even brought it up. He also had another piece of his from CAF for sale on Ebay, so i figured I'd give it a shot because it was a piece i really wanted. I won't bore you with the negotiations (which were also painfully annoying), but i ended up just BIN, and was told he would ship out the following week. Nothing. No response to emails, no tracking. Radio silence after that. I even waited extra to make sure something didn't happen to the guy. I figure some on here may be familiar with him if he's been in the game awhile, so either this guy is just a real tool, or someone is faking his identity and he should probably be notified (unlikely since i contacted him separately from ebay, and his Paypal account info matched). More upset because I missed out on a favorite piece of mine than the actual headache of the failed purchase tbh.

I spoke to her and jimmy palmiotti 2 week ago in Calgary comic con,
she don't bring any original art
and explain to me they are in the process to post their  art for sale online
they give me the business card with the site information
but when I search the link,  the page was not ready.

It look like its going to take a while to be ready,
    but eventually is coming.

Sorry I don't keep the info after that...

Thank you! At least i know it's not out there somewhere and i just can't find it. I will keep an eye out for announcements then

Well, based on what Tom told me when I was in his shop looking through art, and trying to negotiate prices, he said that it totally depends on the artist. Generally, they are not willing to sell their pages for anything less than the listed price. I think that is particularly true for Stuart Immonen (and if you are talking about a Star Wars page, that is probably the case). As he explained it, the artists are perfectly content to hold onto their pages, rather than sel them at a reduced rate. And I think a guy like Immonen, who has a pretty steady art income, that is probably the case. But, it never hurts to ask.

    Thanks for the reply!

  13. Didn't really want to start a different thread for this, so I'll ask here. Does Fanfare ever have any sales? I recently came across some Immonen pages I'm interested in, but they are from several years ago and i have other financial obligations atm, so not exactly priority for me right now. Thanks

  14. So i recently moved my modest collection into an itoya. Was i wrong in thinking this alone was sufficient to keep? These comments make me feel like that alone is not adequate
