  1. I finally received my unemployment check from October: (Avon) Witchcraft #1-6 HC Haunt of Horror: Edgar Allan Poe #1-3 Haunt of Horror: H. P. Lovecraft #1-3
  2. Don't you have to be an Engineer to work in Quality Control? Never mind, some of the dumbest people I have ever met are engineers...
  3. Don't lay flat how? SCS is when a comic is damaged from too much movement within the case.
  4. I am assuming that you've handled comics fresh off the shelf. There's a sort of natural bowing from the spine-out. If a comic lays completely flat, that can be a clear indicator of pressing. There are people that don't want the 'natural' state of a comic being altered. Most collectors put their money where their mouth is. Not all 9.8s are created equal, as there are MFG defects including uneven cuts, mis-wraps, printing errors, etc.
  5. 7.62x39? Signature services are not required for ammo shipment/delivery (in most states), but most online retailers tend to use those services.
  6. Wow. Not sure if it's more surprising that CGC would grade them - as it seems like a bad idea - or that there's a viable market for them. Either way, thanks for the info.
  7. : Don't "invest" in comic books. With that out of the way... It's supply and demand. If you're looking at the same exact issue (as your question implies), some sellers may be out of touch and listing at a price higher than the market demands, and others may be looking to sell quick by undercutting the market average. There are also examples of issues being over-graded, which is why you buy the book, not the label. If you're looking at different issues in the same grade, well, there are multitudes of factors at play there. First appearances, cover art, etc.
  8. I can't see CGC being valuable as a public trade based on the fact that vintage collectibles are finite. Once they stop receiving those, how many jabronis are really out there submitting Moderns fresh off the shelf for a Registry set?
  9. If the comic isn't touched by the damage, it's not supposed to be eligible for re-grade, but I have seen some claim that CGC chose otherwise. As mentioned, cracking it and enjoying it in bag and board is a great option.
  10. Raw material costs were a huge b^&*h in 2021. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the primary reason behind price hikes.
  11. So far it has not been for the better (except for finally sourcing Moderation)...
  12. IST sent out an email that they are not receiving Marvel trades reliably, so they are no longer featuring them in the Coming Soon section. I would say the same of DC, as a few of their releases I am following have been kicked down the road.
  13. And openly praised working with Snyder. I think he's trying to stay on good terms with WB while cutting ties with the mess that is the DCEU.
  14. A clean/press will get that out. 9.4+ after it's clean.
