  1. This thread needs a bump. I think this book is worthy. It is one of the hard ones. I got it from a boardie. It was one of Tim's former books. But what book isn't.

I had a feeling this would be posted soon! ;)

So glad this gem is in safe hands and has remained untouched! It is an insanely nice copy of an insanely difficult issue to find in high grade.

Unfortunately, I saw from the Pedigree auction that not all of my old Western Penn Flashes have remained similarly untouched. :(

the #124 and #132 got the 9.2 to 9.4 squeeze. were there others?

  2. Already sent to ComicLink so no PMs

Were these books all from the same collection? Many of them have the same grease pencil marks.

    Simply beautiful books!

All but 3 are from the same collection.

  3. :sumo: I can't believe this is still going on....

Thank your boyfriend for this craziness.

    :sumo::sumo:

    :foryou:

He will get more than a thanking... so far I only know of one or two things that still need to be shipped and one of them never gave an address. Not sure how that is working but I am the only one with internet access at this point and only when I am at work. So for all of you who still haven't received your carp..PM me with what you need and your address. Thanks

LTS- don't know if this is referring to me but PM'd Dan the day i received the request for address (8/14). appreciate your efforts in something that isn't really your affair.

  4. but where did the voting /debate take place to put him on the HoS list?

It was a very secret ballot, kept just amongst a few Skull & Bones individuals.

    :baiting:

All 94 of them, which 79% (74 forumites) voted to put him in the HOS.

    Thedanimal HOS poll

75% of vote needed to get into baseball HOF, so here shouldn't be different imho

  6. Subbed a few books on-site and got them back today. Subby 1 9.4 white (though it was a 9.6 for sure), JiM 112 9.2 OW (had it at 9.0) and ASM 20 9.2 OW (had this at 9.0 as well).

    :o:o:o

Andy, did these come from that collection you discovered recently? If so, WOW!!

The JiM and ASM did, the Subby came off eBay from some dude that had it graded at 8.0. :cloud9:

    An ebay success story :applause:

You must feel like you won the lottery (odds are about the same)

i think andy has proven to be one of the savviest ebay buyers on the boards

  7. mine was shipped 8/6 w/o tracking number- not here yet and no responses from dan. I feel like an idio-- getting involved in this nonsense. Every board member I've sold to or bought from have been super cool except this experience . This sucks!!

As per my PM that I sent you a week ago, we have shipped it. I understand you don't trust dan but please trust me to do the right thing here. You will get your books.

To my knowledge there was only one person that he couldn't ship to as they never gave an address for shipping...

    Thanks

  8. for the record, I never said I blamed LTS for anything that Danimal has done.

I don't think she should be held responsible for her boyfriends actions.

I just stated I simply would not be comfortable selling to her, or buying from her because of whom she lives with.

does that make me right?..no, but it doesnt make me wrong either.

and I'm sure that there are more then a few members here that would agree.

The Danimal needs to grow a pair, and at the very least just to ease the stress on his girlfriend, answer for his actions.

This is what bothers me...you wouldn't sell or purchase anything from me because of who my Boyfriend is?...isn't that almost holding me responsible for his actions? His actions should have no effect on my status as a board member....I've never personally screwed anyone over for anything

Guilty by association is an unfair yet very real fact of life. He should really be ashamed of himself for putting you through all of this.

i agree w/ the bold even given that my PP payment (at least) looks like it went to her email account.

  9. Ok guys I had to come on here after I heard about this thread. I am very sorry for all of this. I know I messed up and let some of the things I need to ship go WAY too long and without communication after I got back from Michigan.

I was basically embarassed and just wanted to PM everyone individually this weekend and get everything out this coming week and refunds if needs be on friday when I get paid.

Please don't hold this against my girlfriend...this has absolutely nothing to do with her. If anything she just yelled at me and told me I have to go on here and fix everything.

Like I said, mostly just embarassed so I stayed away until I had the means to ship everything. Not going to go into the entire thing about why my life halfway sucks but with both of us losing our cars, it's been a struggle just to get both of us to work. And with bills and an upcoming court date for some old collections debt, I've just been depressed and trying to figure everything out. Things are looking a lot better though and without my girlfriend I'd literally have nothing good going on right now.

I will PM everyone I still owe and get this settled with tracking numbers this week. I have no intentions of ripping anyone off and running...like where am I going to run? lol I really have no interest in this forum after getting this taken care of but my girlfriend does, and I don't want to ruin it for her.

So please, if you guys can be gracious enough to give me this week to fix things, I promise you will won't be discussing this anymore very soon other than to say it's all set. Again very very sorry. I don't want to bore people with details of woe so I'll leave it at that.

Hope when I get this squared away I can be forgiven.

So has anyone received what they purchased ? Ive only got an unread pm :(

Forget it, he's a deadbeat. He is on the probation list where he belongs.

What gets me is he spent a lot of time smearing 2 other boardies before he did this. I will take my lumps for not seeing he was a potential problem.

It's understanding that people run into problems once in a while. That much can be forgiven. But to not ship books originally, come on here and say he'll take care of everything and then turn around and not ship the books again is truly unforgivable.

that does make it worse. i'm out a whopping $15. maybe he could put it towards diapers because he and them will both end up being full of

  10. The red flag for me was when he first started posting, claiming he had 250 boxes of books he needed to sell RIGHT NOW . He then got all pizzed up when some boardies told him to read the rules and he said he wasnt about to grade every book, scan it and post it. That thread started dissapearing in a matter of minutes and got yanked. He got a one week strike after a few posts. Could have been a record for a newb. Just my 2c though. He could be legit.

    DRX

Missed that whole first ordeal... wish there was a way to post problem newbies after their original threads get pulled... at least we'd have a "heads up" that there may be a problem with that person.

    +1 to this thought.

  11. So, now I fully comprehend the craziness that occurs when Flaming Telepath starts a sales thread. Great guy, fast shipper, but the guy can't grade for chit!! I will be buying from him every chance I get, this is just ridiculous :ohnoez:

    Avengers 41 - Nick's grade 7.5 CGC 8.5

    Avengers 80 - Nick's grade 8.5 CGC 9.4

    Avengers 87 Nicks grade 7.0 CGC 9.0

    (worship) And no pressing!!! :o I <3 Brit's

i'm sure you're far from the only one with this experience. the rest are trying to keep it under their hats.

  12. Got this on 7/24... then nothing.

Hey Bill..I am SO SO sorry. This has gotten out of control. I am taking care of everyone this coming week starting monday and by end of week everything will be shipped.

Again very very sorry. This is not fair to everyone and it's my fault completely.

I didn't come on here much because I was embarassed after all this.

Thanks and contact you soon with tracking.

    Dan

I am holding my breath now :taptaptap:

form PM, got the same.

  13. TV UPDATE:

Only in our dreams could Frank Darabont write and direct every last episode of the Walking Dead TV series. Such are the demands of producing serial TV in the US that no show can really be the work of one writer-director. So who are his deputies?

Here’s the talent roster, which is just as Darabont supplied it to Herc at Aint It Cool, which means “Me” reads “Frank Darabont”:

    1) Me.

    2) Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad, X-Files)

    3) Gwyneth Horder-Payton (The Shield, BSG)

    4) Johan Renck (Breaking Bad)

    5) Ernest Dickerson (The Wire, Dexter)

    6) Guy Ferland (The Shield, Sons of Anarchy)

The writers for the first six are:

    1) Me

    2) Me

    3) Me, Chic Eglee, Jack LoGuidice. (Chic: The Shield, Dexter. Jack: Sons of Anarchy)

    4) Robert Kirkman (wrote some comics I think)

    5) Glen Mazzara (The Shield, Hawthorne)

    6) Adam Fierro (The Shield, Dexter, 24)

Here are additional notes on some of the talent, just to remind you of some of their other credits:

■Renck has directed a series of interesting music videos and the feature film Downloading Nancy.

■Ernest Dickerson was a cinemtatographer on several Spike Lee pictures who later directed a few feature films, some of them in the horror genre, and a lot of TV, including several episodes in multiple seasons of The Wire; for his sins.

■Guy Ferland’s best-known movie was Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights.

Note that Robert Kirkman, the creator of the original Walking Dead comics, has scripted the fourth episode. That’s going to generate a great deal of discussion, I bet

beat me to it. but the link has some pics from the show.

  14. JLA prices in the Comiclink auction seem to be doing much better than they did on Heritage.

    agreed- i wonder why?

Maybe all the SA collectors are in states like California and New York and have been driven off by the sales tax that now gets charged on them? (shrug)

There really were some remarkable deals in the Heritage auction.

I would think that the exorbitant BP is more of an issue with Heritage. lol

before tim jumps in here, who bids on heritage books without taking the BP into consideration? should have absolutely no impact on the reported sales price.

Yup, Anyways, the reported Heritage results are all inclusive of BP, so bottom line is that the Comiclink price (which does NOT include their 3% service charge) is higher than the Heritage all-in price.

Agreed, and my comment was meant more as a joke that I figured would get the usual who doesn't figure that in? comment. FWIW, I still think that it is way too high compared to the other sites.

That being said, doesn't Clink tend to do better with SA prices than HA in most cases? Looking at the latest offerings, I thought that the HA auction was weaker for SA books as a whole than the Clink auction so that might have affected it as well with more people saving up for the latter one.

based on where the savvy dude from HK lists his books, i always felt HA did better w/ early HG silver. maybe that's no longer the case.
