  1. bid 5x less shipping. the last copy sold for $1550 - didn't realize there were more than 2 GL collectors. looks like i was actually right about that. Well, the big dog GL collector already bought my copy of #11, so he was out of the competition. and lanier snagged the one on ebay (i'm pretty sure). that should've left - uh, no one.
  2. it seems like maybe there's a Juststopit.DoyouWANTastrike?-up in the JLA pricing as in the top 20 silver age it shows #1 going from $10k to $12k (pg 156) yet in the complete pricing list for the title is shows #1 at $10k (pg 682).

  4. the #28 was cut in half in top grade - wanted to see if i could get the blood racing in HK
  5. thanks bob. didn't have to change one number in my spreadsheet due to the 0.00% price adjustment in the new guide.
  6. Wow, wouldn't have picked you to be the winner after seeing the price! I got one of the cut-rate books, the #41. won a book the night before for way less than i was willing to pay- threw the "savings" at the #13. plus i've got a 9.2 that i bought well that i'll sell.
  7. there were just waaaaaaay too many JLA's in this auction for prices to hold firm. of course, somehow i managed to pay more than i wanted to for the #13.
  8. the immolation of an innocent child is "fun?" . remind me never to invite you to my house. kirkman wasn't going for fun and he says as much in the letters column.
  9. joker-fish sent the books- included 4x the # of books i bought as freebies. he's square in my book.
  10. that's on clink? no. i bought the one on ebay.
  11. kudos to comixcroz for some nice sets (and for hunting down a few simpson books)- a well communicated and quickly shipped transaction.
  12. more like temporary insanity. a copy sold in november for $360.
  13. kudos to peasofcrap (his choice not mine) for the tick trade- easy transaction, lightning shipment.
  14. This would be true if CGC hadn`t just given pedigree status to the Rocky Common Mountain collection. I didn`t comment when the Toth collection was first brought to market by CGC, because in fact they had been pretty tough about giving pedigree status over the last few years. But when they recognized a pedigree that as far as I can tell represented lots of ultra-HG books from an era lousy with ultra-HG books, I was puzzled and irritated. I think both collections are borderline Pedigree quality. The Toth collection is DC only with a lot of the earlier stuff, although it may be highest graded, is still below 9.0. There are some phenomenal runs in ultra high grade though. The RMs are light on the keys in terms of grade but ULTRA high grade from the mid 60s on. My original point was that the Toth collection is not a SLAM DUNK Pedigree, which is what a lot of the posters were saying. I can see it getting the Pedigree designation but I'm not surprised that it didn't either. To say that it is undoubtedly a Pedigree without hesitation is just over-exhuberance IMO. This of course comes from someone who does not collect SA DC and it seems that all the proponents of the Toth collection being Pedigreed are the DC collectors on the board. maybe that's due to: a)the DC collectors realizing how tough these books are to find in HG and b)marvel collectors not giving a rat's
  15. i'd be happy to see a list of books thru '68. the '73 and beyond would be of secondary interest.
  16. I agree, by 2007 nearly everyone will look to improve their books by having them pressed!!
