  1. and 192 graded copies of showcase #4 and that book is still deader than disco. until a flash movie comes out yes, it truly is all about the movie hype. i don't buy the geoff johns revival driving things (though it doesn't hurt). when AF 15 was hotter than a pistol the last go round, every ASM title sucked eggs. unless i'm misremembering it was in the timeframe leading up to the release of Spider-Man 3.

  3. john layman will be at my LCS (heroes in campbell, ca) this wed from 11-1 (i think that's the correct time) signing copies of #4
  4. $700-800 depending on PQ, QP, which way the wind is blowing, etc. but looking at GPA that may be optimistic.
  5. seems as if you can put together a nice collection of 9.2's and 9.4's for decent prices these days. if you're looking for 9.6's or better, you're gonna pay til you bleed
  6. i thought the #2 was the same book doug sold for $9300 earlier this year. i was the underbidder then but didn't bother playing this time.
  7. kudos to iggy for a couple of accurately graded HG raw books
  8. I hear ya. I mean, why would someone want to own a one-of-a-kind piece rather than the reproduction of it which numbers in the thousands? especially when the one of a kind piece costs less. to each his own ... You feel me, brother man! what do the good pages from Chew 1 go for? what's a 9.9 going for? someone could argue there are 20something Chew 1 pages and only one or so 9.9s, but i tend to agree with you...the art page should be worth more than the book, even in a slab a lot of BA books in 9.8 are $100 or more...many of the pages of those books, even good ones, go for a lot less. does that make sense? the pages were priced at $150-175 at SDCC. 9.8's were going for that amount. the 9.9's went for $350ish. again, different strokes for different folks...

  10. two bids- toast, wasn't even close. i thought some of those 9.6's went for crazy $ until i checked GPA and realized they were in line to down w/ the last sale.
  11. congrats. this is the page i really wanted of those that were still in the portfolio- but it was already sold.
  12. bought a page of original art- issue #2 pg 16. rob gets no points for helping me to decide between two pages i was interested in.
  13. How do you know it was these exact same copies? GPA has no serial numbers for the sales you're referencing. And yea, the 63 was me -- I don't think a more perfect copy of that issue is possible. Perfect centering, perfect PQ...that issue is tooooo often miswrapped, this is the first nicely wrapped 9.6 I've ever seen, at least from 2000 to 2005 and in 2009, I wasn't even looking from 2006 to 2008. tis a beauty. i like mine too.
  14. http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/node/41662 and that's the sound of the deadpool movie imploding you hear in the background
  15. continuing OT: don't know if he can act but can you just hear him belting out "in brightest day..." in falsetto. looks like they've narrowed it down to: bradley cooper, ryan reynolds and timberlake. timberlake, w/ that haircut, looks more like guy gardner than hal jordan.
  16. the only "gunning" that's going to happen is for the guy's head that greenlights this idea. http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/node/41645
  17. kudos to batfreak for a VCC purchase- PP showed up exactly when he said it would.
  18. i heard they were getting them in the west coast first... not today- neither store had them
  19. i'm at my LCS today and there're like 30 copies of Chew #2 on the rack so i think to myself "guess this one isn't going to be hard to find." i picked out two copies and then the next guy grabs 20 copies. he sees that i've got a copy and says "you picked up chew. cool" and i'm thinking "dang, that should've been me w/ the 20 copies." then he goes "want me to sign it?" i must've had a dumbstruck expression on my face cause the LCS owner wanders over and says "that's john" as in john layman the writer. got him to sign my two copies and got some info- issue #1 print run was 6,000, issue #2 was 9,000. the second print of #1 will be 3,000. he said that #2 was a set up issue and the story really takes off in #3. he has 25 issues planned and if it's successful thinks it'll go to #50. oh, and i tried to grab a couple more but the LCS owner gave me the stiff arm.
