  1. Happy to add another Doctor Strange to my collection 😀
  2. I picked up these two about 25 years ago. I was a big Doctor Strange collector and ST110 seemed impossible to find. I found the 7.0 at a show setup inside a mall in Chattanooga . I didn’t see another copy until a few years later when I found the 8.5 at a show in Atlanta. It was $1,200 and I grabbed it. I walked a few tables away and another dealer had one. Looked to be in the same grade and was also $1,200. I just couldn’t afford another $1,200 at the time. I’ve always felt Doctor Strange has been undervalued and under appreciated.
  3. For a few months there were so many high grade 9.6 & 9.8 Doctor Strange / Strange Tales for sale or auction. But now … crickets LOL 😂
  4. Wow, just saw Strange Tales 110 in 8.0 sold last week at Heritage for $15,600!
  5. I’m very happy to say I’m the winning bidder for that 9.8 Doctor Strange 181 😜. It’s already on the FedEx truck heading my way! Doctor Strange 6 has a really nice cover but no clue why it would go $$$$ higher.
  6. Added 4 more Doctor Strange comics to my collection. Very happy with these and a big THANKS to Collectors Comics!! 🤩
  7. Adding two more Doctor Strange issues from the Federal Hill collection to my collection 🥰
  8. I scored the Haunt boxed set on eBay last night. Includes the box 🤪. I’ve bid in the past over $400 and always lost. Very happy with the price on this one! It’s been on my want list since the 90’s when I bought Vault and Tales.
  9. Sometimes I just laugh at myself lol! I’ve had this Blackstone book for 25 years and just realized today that it’s an EC!
  10. There were several beautiful Doctor Strange issues from the Federal Hill collection up for bid on Comic Link. The auctions ended last night. I put healthy bids on six but only won this #175.
  11. I’ve owned this copy of Doctor Strange 169 for over 25 years. Received it back from CGC last week. And a few recent acquisitions thanks to the awesome Reece’s Comics. And finally the cover art for a ’95 limited series called Over the Edge #2.
  12. I wasn’t an avid buyer of DC’s when I collected in the ‘80’s and ‘90’, but a dealer friend twisted my arm on these Showcases.
  13. I can breathe easier now that my EC’s are home. 😃
  14. There were several EC hardcover sets in great shape on eBay including Haunt of Fear with the slip case. The auctions ended late last night. I set bids on most of them and felt they were fairly decent bids. Alas, I didn’t win any. 😢 But I’m in no rush. Someday!!
  15. Hats off to CGC for super quick grading (and minimizing my Click+Refreshes). Pretty happy with my EC grades 🤗
  16. So the waiting begins 🤪 Sent some of my ECs to CGC and they’re scheduled for grading. 👹 The Haunt 26 is Gaines copy 8 of 12. The Tales are just pretty. Has anyone else struggled with the fact that you’re paying more to CGC than you paid for the books?!? LOL I guess that’s a good thing, and I did buy them a while back.
  17. I wasn’t surfing eBay looking for this, but it jumped out and called my name so I had to buy. I’m pretty happy with the price. It’ll make a great addition to my Tales From The Crypt and Vault of Horror boxed sets. If only I could find a decent deal on the Haunt boxed set too. 🤪
  18. Happy Monday 🤪. I received my Shock Illustrated 3 today back from CGC. I purchased this one about 25 years ago and it’s not a Gaines file copy. CGC 8.5 White Pages There are 8 copies graded higher in the census. I’ve seen pics of the 9.0, 9.2, 9.4 and one of the 9.8. All those are Gaines file copies and none of those have white pages. It would be cool to know the journey of this copy but perhaps it’s too shocking to illustrate.
  19. LOL 😂 I added a full pic! I had this one CGC’d in 2004. To be honest I tried to wipe off the writing but was terrified it might be considered “Restored”. At that time, I didn’t think cleaning and pressing was allowed. There are a few bends on the back cover that don’t break color. I think it’d grade better with a little tender loving care.
  20. Today is a vacation day for me, so I decided to read through some of the horror and EC threads while drinking my coffees (always more than one cup lol). One of the items discussed was the River City pedigree. Most of the books pictured had an S followed by a date. I really thought the penmanship of the S looked familiar, so I did a search on Heritage’s sold books for River City and came across this copy they sold of Crypt of Terror (not my book): The S-8 almost exactly matches the mark on my Haunt of Fear 15 (this one IS my book): It looks like I may have had a River City in my collection for 25 years and didn’t even know. HOF 15 was my first EC. I bought it from a dealer in Tennessee. It was $800 and he had the audacity to charge sales tax making it $866 🤨. Over the next 5-6 years I added a few more ECs to my collection. Within the next few days I should get my Shock Illustrated 3 back from CGC, so expect another proud post soon! I may hand out cigars!!
  21. That’s great news Larenzo! Glad you got your books! I’m having similar fears of my submission having gone off the rails too. I submitted a CCS magazine walk through that was received June 17. The site shows 10 business day turnaround but it’s been 15. It’s the first time the book has been out of my possession in over 27 years and I’ve worried myself to death . In that same submission were two comic walk throughs and they both breezed right thru and I received them both back over a week ago. But the magazine is just hanging.
  22. Journey Into Mystery 100 This is not “new to me this week” but I didn’t feel it warrants a new thread. I purchased this Journey Into Mystery page about 25 years ago. The dealer had stacks of original art and he caught my attention when he said this was a Jack Kirby original. After some research today I believe it may be Don Heck. I think I paid $300. I almost didn’t buy it because it doesn’t include Thor, but it does have his alter ego Dr Donald Blake as well as Mr. Hyde. In the last panel, Donald is trying to get to his cane. So I’m sure the very next page has an amazing Thor pic I haven’t looked at this piece in over 15 years. Today I noticed the Comics Magazine Code Authority stamp on the back. So now I know how it gets the code review. It was stamped August 1, 1963 and the books were distributed to newsstands in November 1963. Not a bad turnaround! When I looked up the stats for this issue, it lists artists Jack Kirby, Don Heck and Larry Lieber. Anyone know if this page is Don Heck? Happy 4th Everyone!
  23. I purchased this beautiful copy of Tales from the Crypt 35 over 20 years ago. I’m pretty sure it was a Dragon-Con show and I believe the dealer was Vincent Zurzolo. At the time, they were running a special - with every purchase you got a free photo with Chanel If you look carefully, eventually you’ll find the book in the pic!
  24. I bought this Spidey back in the 90’s and filed him away. Decided it’s time to give him a short vacation in Sarasota FL for a few weeks. Hoping he comes back refreshed and looking like new lol!
