  1. You should introduce yourself in Comics General....welcome to the boards. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  2. ......the gloss is like brand new, kind of like a White Mountain....although definitely not as supple, but then, not much is. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  3. Here's a couple of books that belong to a friend...both are R.J.Long (Portsmouth) copies. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  4. Just got this from the recent Weist auction....looks better thn the scan. Been looking for a HG copy for years and didn't think I'd ever find one. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  5. And don't forget the 2 color strike varieties.....one very dark brown, the other much lighter. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  6. A Special Book .....Only a dealer like Jerry could turn up stuff like this. All of his recent auctions have been attributed to a single long term collector....I've wondered if maybe Jerry, himself, was that collector. Now I have to decide whether to de-slab it....it sure would look sharp in a mylar and to let it breathe....like the fine Wines that Weist also collected. GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u P.S. "The Million Year Picnic" .....what a concept. I still get a total charge out of his ads in the earlier OSPG's where he's holding an armful of multiple copies of Batman 1, Superman 1, Cap 1, and so on and so on. Interesting theory about his books Jim. I was watching some of his auctions end tonight. There were some really nice books, wish I could have picked up a couple. I get as excited over new Jerry Weist auctions as much as anything the big houses put on.....always stuff you just NEVER see. I hope he and Billy Gaines have themselves barricaded in God's Wine cellar right about now. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u

  9. I just won this in the recent Jerry Weist auction on eBay.....may he rest in peace. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  10. .....it's going to go for 47K and change. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  11. Bob's 85 was the Mass copy with a light chip.....not the same book. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  12. .....original art is always cool....but it's hard to totally turn our backs on those actual funny books, they're deeply embedded in our inner child. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  13. It's a shame it's in a slab....as a hopeless fanboy, I would want to be able to scope out the awesome splash page in that one.....I love this story. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  14. I wish Eaglemoss would make a Mad Thinker/ Awesome Android lead figurine ......15 has always been one of my fav's also. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  15. ....nice and unpressed. The 15 has a tiny chip at bottom and each have light dust shadows. PQ is decent....at least OW/W. The original owner brought them into a friend's LCS in hat boxes and apple crates. The first ones he brought were the Lone Rangers and Roy Rogers, as he thought they would be the most valuable....but that turned out to be the ASM 1 that slabbed out (unpressed) @ CGC 9.2. It was auctioned in what I believe was the first Heritage auction. The old fellow had some mounting Medical expenses and my pal resisted the temptation to offer him 2 grand (which he would have taken) and worked out a consignment arrangement. The guy had over 2 thousand books from 1954-1964....and he collected EVERYTHING....D.C. , Marvel, Dell, ....it was awesome. All the Marvel keys except FF1 nd Avengers 1. Nice books! What do you grade them at? I bought the 15 as an 8.0 and the 10 as an 8.0/ 8.5, then discounted.....both would benefit from a press, but I probably won't. It turns out that isn't a chip on the 15, just a little color loss...both are VERY glossy. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  16. The Crumb book is stunning, by the way. Faithful to the material but still 100% Crumb......Genesis is a very powerful story...Crumb is one astute guy to persue it, but I'd imagine there are folks who hate it. GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  17. We won't see what we're competing with until floor time on these....I bid on about a dozen, but nothing that will stick. I may end up giving a real effort on one, just don't know which one. Probably an FF if I do. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  18. I got my bid in.....unfortunately, it's not the 3K level it will probably take to win the book. My funds are tight right now, but I can't decide whether I should figure out some way to get at least one Twin Cities book. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  19. .....er, yes... Am I in trouble ? GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u

  21. My buddy has been having some car troubles and has to sell some books. I just picked up the R.J. Long / Portsmouth copies of FF 10 and 15 from him but I feel guilty. I really didn't have the money and he offered me a price I couldn't refuse....I suppose I'll have to let him have them back at cost if he changes his mind. Man, I love some early FF's. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a fiend of jesus) (thumbs u
  22. I'm in that process too....I'd forgotten how much I liked his stuff. The Case of Charles Dexter Ward GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u P.S. The "Silver Key" stories weren't too shabby either.
  23. You are correct suh! I need one of these. This copy looks ok: Heritage auction copy My finances preclude me from participating for that one.....I should have kept the 9.0 I won in one of their auctions about 8 years ago for 200 bucks....alas, I fear the ship has sailed....GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  24. You are correct suh! Now THAT is a book you need to put in one of your sales threads GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  25. When I was a kid in the 60's, everytime we went to the beach for awhile, I would deflate a raft and put it over top of me while I was in the water, water dripping down....pretending to be Spidey in this story. It had quite an impact on me. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
