  1. Those are SHARP , Bill....that first issue is impossible to find in that shape. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a fiend of jesus) (thumbs u
  2. My buddy says he thinks it has a shot at 8.5, me, I would say more like 8.0. It has some minor tanning and a small tear on the back cover and an abrasion near Hulk's shoulder. I'm tickled with it....Marc was running a year end 50% off sale that applied to everything, even wall books....so I ended up getting it for less than my losing bid on the recent Clink CGC 7.0. I also picked up some books in trade that I'm going to put up in the marketplace....a few Fiction House, some early Jugheads, ST 115 & 116, MIS 58, 75, 82, GL 4, 14, and a few others I can't recall. I got a great deal on them and I'm going to put 'em up....most at half guide or so. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u More digital pics
  3. I just got back from the VaComicon where I managed to pick up this beauty. My scanner sucks and the book looks nicer. This is a tough book and I've looked for a long time....thanks to Marc Nathan of Comics, Cards, and Collectibles. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  4. I ran into Marc Nathan at the VaComicon this weekend and he had a serious batch of preheros from a recent Estate find. They ranged form VG to VF/NM and they were priced reasonably. Some had a bit of tanning and me and my buddy Lewis grabbed some nice ones. Unfortunately, we didn't make it on Saturday and a short box of them were already gone. I managed to pick up this beauty, a book that has been on my want list a LONG time. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  5. Looks like Everett to me. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  6. yeah...@#*&% I still think KS pulled those 4 Aces from his sleave! Comic Poker...yagottaloveit! It beats making each other remove articles of clothing...GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  7. Picked these up recently in a part cash part trade deal. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  8. And how about the #6 9.4...only 3 graded copies (including that one) in 9.4...only 1 higher... I just got out my FF Omnibus last night and noticed that FF 6 has the unique distinction of being the first appearance of the Yancy Street Gang....not noted in OSPG. There was also a letter in FF 12 where a fellow in California offered to accept bids on copies of a "small supply" of all the FF's in fine to mint condition. I also noticed how Chic Stones inking style bears a strong resemblance to Chris Rule's style from the pre hero period. I wonder if one may have been a pen name for the other. I must admit I don't know much about either. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u Get me that guy's phone number!! The thing that got me was that he was acually GRADING the books in 1962. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u Yeah...that's pretty cool...was OSPG even out yet? OSPG was still 8 years away. Here's a book I jst picked up in a part trade/part cash deal. I traded my FF 8 CGC 7.0 plus some cash for it. The 7.0 was one of the nicest 7.0's I've ever seen but it had a rusty staple that bugged me. The line by the Puppet Master's head is a scanner glitch, as is the blotchiness. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u

  11. If you ever decide to part with the TTA 20......I would be VERY interested. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  12. I have a buddy who's selling his RJ Long copy of Strange Tales 85...due to a financial crunch. I loaned him some money towards the eventual sale, and I've posted it in the Grading Forum. I'd appreciate any help you guys might be willing to spare on grading it. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  13. Due to what looks like a light corner crease upper right, I'd wager 7.5 from CGC. ..one of my favorite covers and stories of the genre....the colors really zing in person on this issue. I've bid pretty hard on some 7.5's that have come to market but am always outbid. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  14. You must be proud of those. I've been collecting FF since '67 and I've never seen any in person as nice as yours. I don't blame you for leaving them in the mylars. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  15. I've seen copies of Challengers 1 that appear to have little or no cyan....but they are rare. I also believe that B&B 34 copies exist with a grek plate over the cyan while most do not. It could be that they were printing errors that were discarded as spoiled and a few copies were taken home by press employees, making their way into the pool of surviving copies. A good way to discount sun fading is by studying the reds, as they fade at the fastest rate. If the book seems faded yet the reds are true....then a printing error will usually be the culprit. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u P.S. It almost looks like the JLA 7.5 was printed entirely without the cyan plate....maybe somene started running the cyan plate while the press was still loaded with black ( grey screen)
  16. Not to change the subject....but I was in Books A Zillion the other day and noticed that Marvel has issued the trade edition of volume 2 of the Marvel Masterworks edition of FF reprinting 11-20 and Annual 1. I had never owned the first printing as the coloring on many of the Masterworks editions was just too far off. They really got it right this time....down to Mr. Fantastic's pink hand on the cover of FF 20. The cover is a painting of FF 12 that was done from the exact Kirby layout....real neat. I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but I highly reccommend it for those who haven't seen it. The list is only $ 20 USD.....and Amazon probably has it cheaper. I have always loved that part of the run, even though it's not as sophisticated as the issues from the later 60's. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  17. I only own one copy. I thought you only buy White paged SA DCs? Very sweet copy! .....it's an old label slab, it probably DOES have white pages. Nice book Tim....I'm with John, I love the cover and have also wanted one since I was a kid. GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  18. Buddy's got letters in several: Adventures of the Fly 23 Amazing Spider-Man 3, 8, 24 Atom 4, 6, 13 Fantastic Four 9 Mystery in Space 80, 82 Strange Adventures 145, 162 Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane 37 Has anybody compiled a master list of notable letter column appearances? I'd like to set these up as a searchable field in our database. ASM 3... that's the one I remembered. He's also got one in Avengers 6. As far as I know there is nowhere close to a good list. I used to not it when cataloging book but stopped after awhile. I'd wager that the letter Buddy Saunders most remembers writing was the one in Mystery in Space 75....he won the original art to an entire Adam Strange story for that one. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  19. My 18 had great cover stock...but some sure don't. I always check them out on a case by case basis....GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  20. Those books have a rep for bad PQ ,even though many of them are very nice books. I've seen quite a few and the Mannarinos certainly had an eye for a nice spine....some people crack and resub to lose the designation and the books then do better at market. The FF 18 that I used to own had a perfect spine that more than made up for the C/OW.....GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  21. AH....I see you've finally put those icky Marvel Mysteries down and started persuing something with substance once again GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  22. Thanks for posting these. You're right, some great work in there, and hard to find - I've still not been able to put together a complete set. Did you ever think about starting a thread just for religious comics? Some great work out there that deserves a look. Thanks again! BTW, is that animal overlooking the books alive??? Snatches the Iguana passed away a few years ago at the age of 10. He may have lived longer, but our diet for him included some items that weren't the best....cheddar cheese in particular. He stole some off of the counter while Judy and I were making a salad. He came back later and tried to make off with the ENTIRE block of cheese....so we included it for him often. I am of the school of thought that I'd rather live to be 80 and eat Big Macs than to live to be 95 while eating only tofu. He had the run of the house and knew where the tub was. He'd get in it when he wanted to swim. He was very clean and mellow...and actually seemed to like action movies....nothing else would hold his attention for long. I cried when he died, he passed away in my arms. As for the Bible Tales....they're cool and I was just re reading 'em again the other day. OSPG credits are very sparse, but Robinson had work in all of them and did ALL the covers. Harry Anderson had work in 4 and 5. Krigstein in 4, as well as a great Colan story. The Syd Shores stories are especially nice...he was obviously into them. The Everett story in # 2 is also decent. I still need to upgrade my 4...it's fragile. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  23. I'm in the market for a high grade GL 7, but no luck. Very tough book. Even Metropolis has not had one in ages (and they can find pretty much anything). The problem with 7 is Sinestro doesn't appear on the cover and 7 is so tough to find. Looks like there's a very nice copy of 7 in the Mound City collection, though. That is a nice copy. Too bad it's not graded. I think for the long term, GL 7 should do very well. It is graded and is a 9.0. So, it ranks up there. It really is too bad he is not on the cover. Wow, it's a 9.0. Imagine if he was on the cover, this issue would look so cool! That is why everyone needs a copy of #9 as well. What the heck....get 'em ALL GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  24. Here's hoping you can snag that lowly CGC 9.0 FF 3 in the Mound City Auction. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  25. I could be wrong in this, but my impression has always been that JLA was much more popular with DC collectors than Avengers was with Marvel collectors. Next to Batman-related titles, I'd say that JLA was usually the 2nd most popularly collected DC title, whereas I think Avengers historically trailed several of the individual titles. The comparisons aren't perfect, because there were multiple Batman titles while Marvel had a limited number of titles plus several anthology titles that featured 2 characters, but I know a lot more DC collectors for whom JLA was their #1 or #2 title than Marvel collectors for whom Avengers was their #1 or #2 title. Sales figures bear out your theory....Thor was actually the # 3 seller in the mid sixties and the GPA for the # 3 Marvel title shows quite a drop off from 1 and 2. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u P.S. I think Sgt. Fury was rivalling the sales of Avengers at one point.
