  1. WOW....A Rogofsky VG......haven't seen one of those in a while. Gotta love that cover though. Who could've resisted that back in the day. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  2. I know you must be loving that sweet 6 you just picked up. I used to own Burntboy's copy( 8.0 ) and still regret selling it. In a way...it might be my favorite of the Ditko issues ( cover and interior)......but 13, 19, 25, and 26 give it a run for my money. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  3. That always caught my eye too....looks like Loki. I wonder if anyone here snagged that 7.5 TOS 11 off Heritage this weekend....went for 200 plus change...a REAL good deal. GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  4. Nice! This is "officially" classified as a Dr Strange prototype, but the sorcerer in the story always reminded my of the young Victor Von Doom from FF Ann #2. Also, I really like the way the young lady's hair is blowing in the wind...it makes the cover really dynamic...almost a 3-D effect. I just can't fathom how anyone could have ever sold that book.....I bet I'll be playing shuffle board in Florida before that book hits the market again. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  5. What an awesome comic....imagine seeing that on the stands in 1964 for a mere quarter.....those first several years of Marvel annuals were such events. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  6. (thumbs u No doubt. Brings you right back to that simpler time + place Yep, every time I see a Spidey #78 (first newsstand book I purchased). I was so proud of it I kept it in Mom's living room coffee table. I am the same way with Silver surfer! your pops bought you #1 at a flea market in the early 70s--is that how the story goes? 1973, 25 cents .....which he eventually sold and squandered the money on a poopy Action Comics # 1.......some people... GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  7. It never ceases to amaze me how varied our opinions are on covers. I, too, would give # 2 a 5. Same goes for 21, 25, and 26. On my list....no issue without a Ditko cover could ever go beyond a 4 GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a fiend of jesus) (thumbs u
  8. Nice.....my buddy, Lewis was nailing down high grade copies of the westerns and the pre heros back in the early 80's when they were 20 bucks a pop. His collection makes me very jealous. I just took out my Rawhide Kid Masterworks a couple of weeks ago....the Kirby westerns are SO cool....never get tired of them. My friend Wayne, an LCS owner, picked up a real nice collection that have the owners name neatly signed at the top....but otherwise VF and some better. I was broke but he may still have some next time I'm there. There were several Kirby covers in there I'd never seen......I love it when that happens. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  9. This is a club that I, sadly, am not a member of. That 7.5 is awesome. That cover is one of my favorites and a pefect design for a premiere issue. I've thought hard about trying to get one....but finding a 2.5 with no chipping, tape, or pieces missing is not easy....plus being broke doesn't help either. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  10. We collectors sometimes keep an ace or two up our sleeves, eh ? GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  11. wow very nice!!!!! congrats Not to get your hopes up Rich, but that date stamp looks a LOT like the telltale Green River stamp....and the run DID start around that time. Many of the copies were scattered to the winds with no proof of provenance back in the day. Nice book and one of the several early TOS Iron Man issues I wouldn't mind owning one day. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  12. The WOF 19 is one I always wanted to read....any Kirby stories in it ? GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  13. It's a cool book....it jumped out at me in the Photo Journals years ago, back when I was looking at all the Pre Heros I'd never seen....been casually looking for a decent copy for years. It's got 1 Ditko, 2 Kirbys, 1 Buscema, and 1 Sinnot. The Strange Worlds were Stan's first new title in the "Marvel Age". They're all tough as nails in 8.0 or better....and comparitively speaking, not quite as expensive as the "Big 4" of the Pre Hero world. The Strange Worlds are a little different than the rest....a little more Sci-Fi adventure. The concepts for the FF were obviously swirling around in Stan and Jack's minds back then. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  14. Here's two recent pick ups....classic Kirby and Ditko Pre Hero classics. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  15. One of my top ten favorite FF's of all time. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  16. Just got this decent copy of a tough 1959 Pre Hero. It was always one of my favorite covers....giant pink monster, hot space chick....this one has what I believe is the only Kirby Pre Hero story to feature a female protagonist. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  17. Some issues had the ownership statements listing sales figures...they usually fluctuated between 135,000 and 170,000. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u P.S. Low numbers in the census are generally attributed to the fact that most surviving copies are VG+ and lower and sell for about the same price slabbed or unslabbed, so slabbing is just not cost effective.
  18. Actually, according to my calculations, 59 of the other 72 posts were yours Rick, pimping various copies....quite artfully I might add, but we still love ya. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  19. Yes, but how many posts are there in this thread when you exclude posts by Showcase22gr1959 and kimik? .....72 ? GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  20. Not to digress, but I just realized that in less time, the Showcase 22 Club has amassed 25% more posts than the Amazing Fantasy 15 Club. Wow. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  21. For some reason, pound for pound, I prefer the GI Combat covers the most from the Big 5....so many masterpieces. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  22. If they can manage to spare the time from their college studies GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  23. Way to go, Tim. I'd have to be in dire straits to sell that book. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u very pretty If you look real hard, you can see the Batmobile in the "SLOW DOWN" lane. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  24. Way to go, Tim. I'd have to be in dire straits to sell that book. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  25. The site easy to navigate and he has some interesting books but warning bells go off as all the scans are cropped on at least 2, often 3 sides. Is this just poor scanning? Does anyone have any experience dealing with this vendor? scan cropping always scares me He's been around for years....I've bought from him, but primarily mid grade GA. He does have a return policy and is usually fairly easy to reach by phone. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
