  1. Why do you think in a mysterious and wondrous tongue speak I now? Actually, the grammar seems okay to me. Grammatically correct and pleasant to the ear are two different concepts. (thumbs u Pleasant enough for the ears and eyes of a 6-year old relatively fresh off the boat from Hong Kong! As I go back through my reading copies, the thing that strikes me is how perfectly suited these GK books were for kids. The writing was simple, but all sorts of interesting concepts were introduced, and the simplistic (and sometimes horrific) art isn't such a big deal to a little kid. Turok was the best. Indians, a lost world, cave men and dinosaurs! What else would a 6- or 7-year old boy need? Turok was the first comic I ever owned.....Anchorage ,Alaska circa 1966. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  2. Those are also tough...I snagged a cool paperback off eBAY that has some stuff not in the comics. By the way....is that Xerxes story by Everett ? ....GREAT stuff. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  3. It took me 5 years to track them all down on eBAY.....I'm still looking for upgrades. Most of mine came from folks who weren't comic dealers. Everett did John the Baptist...and there's a sharp Harry Anderson story in one of them. They were first class efforts...in fact, Stan Lee's file collection contained them in bound volumes. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  4. I haven't posted these in a while....Atlas Bible Tales for Young Folks. It's kind of unusual seeing all those Horror , War, and Western greats doing bible stories. There are also some non Atla books in this group shot also. Neat books and VERY HARD TO FIND.......GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  5. I'd love to see a picture of her

  8. Thanks for adding me back yo. I just wonder who took me off. If someone quotes the list before you added your name, it won't appear. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  9. The OP wanted to determine which year produced the best group, not the largest. Unfortunately, the criteria for determining the best has not been given, therefore this thread fails due to a weak premise. 2002 wins by default. 2002 wins due to mature edifcation. FIXED THAT FOR YOU.....GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  10. DizneyArt is Mark Wilson of www.pgcmint.com and he is a board member in good standing. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  11. They were not sold all at one time and I don't recall the story in CB Monthly but if you provide the issue date or some notes from it I may be able to provide more info. Here are some of the ones that have made it into my hands (2 are not WMs). It's hard to imagine...but when the WM's surfaced ,the pre heros weren't all that popular...and were very cheap in the guide. A hundred bucks could pick up a REAL nice copy of most. When I first started collecting them in the early 90's I was snagging solid fines for 25 to 30 bucks a pop...but they were hard to find. They still are in fine or better. Even though Stan recycled the same 3 or 4 stories over and over, I still love finding one that I haven't read. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  12. KUDOS to ComicDoc ,the man with the cool Robert Frost sig line, for a blistering fast payment. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  13. No FF collection would be complete without it.....and the ad for ASM 1 and TOS 39 ....what a couple of months that was .GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  14. That book was a steal....I don't see how it could get any less than 8.5, with a real good shot at 9.0....such a cool book. Congrats. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  15. HEADS UP.....There are some real nice D.C. War just listed on Clink in the fine to very fine + range. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  16. It might help if you know how he looks :-) This is Darryl Darryl first started collecting comic books back in 1978; he had a small collection of about 500 comics, which he sold to a local shop in Leyton in late 1979. His interest in comics was subsequently re-kindled in 1988, after a visit to a comic shop in Manchester. By late 1989 Darryl had already accumulated several thousand issues. He also attended his first comic mart, as a dealer, at the Griffin Bar Hotel in Leeds, in September of 1989. Up until 1995, Darryl ran his business from a small warehouse in Pwllheli in Wales; he then moved to a larger warehouse situated in Chester, which enabled him to produce his first mail order catalogue. In 1998 he bought an even larger warehouse in Chester, from which he still runs his business to this day, also employing five full-time staff. Darryl, together with his wife Melloney, still attends various comic marts up and down the country, and also runs a very successful mail order business through the Silver Acre catalogue and this very website. The Silver Acre stock currently stands at around 900,000 comics. If Darryl is Welsh, there's probably not much hope in chaging him...as the Welsh have a reputation for being very obstinate. I can say this because I, too, am Welsh (and Dutch, and Cherokee, and God knows what else) GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  17. this book looks much nicer than a 7.5...must have interor tears or something? did you get the notes? It has a small piece missing at the top of the spine and about 1/4 " spine split/tear....the kind of defect that goes good in a slab. It's hard to see and the book looks great without it....glossy and flat. The dust shadow on the back is a lot less noticeable in person. One thing I like about SA D.C.'s is the way the cover stock stays so white. I guess I'm lucky that a book like this that I've ALWAYS loved is soft in today's market....I got it for half guide. Ben got it for a good price too...but he's into Spectre More Fun covers and wanted to free up the cash for those. I really couldn't afford it....but we're starting to get OT at work again and I couldn't resist at that price. It's the first copy I've ever owned....and I agree with Atlas and JohnT.....it's gotta be one of the best covers ever.....and if you look real close in the toll bridge lane directly below the words "slow down", you can see the Batmobile in line behind a Cadillac. I guess Batman and Robin were too busy doing something else to jump out and help GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u

  20. In the spirit of maintaining equilibrium in the universe, books of that magnitude should NEVER be kept in one location. It is very important that these comics be redistributed amongst your fellow board members....and quickly. Time is of the essence. I would be willing to relieve you of the burden of that 17, if that helps. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u P.S. Any chance of some interior pics from the # 16....I've never seen any.
  21. Kudos to Comichut, Tsimanga, Dikran, JZrarities, Comicdey, and Marvelcollector for smooth fast pay ....GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u

  23. A a minor...perhaps contacting his father first may be more appropriate...maybe you guys could get Mark to do it in an official capacity. I always liked Cap and can't help but wonder what may have triggered this dramatic change in his nature. My 17 year old has a record and it's caused him a world of trouble...it would be nice if some positive intervention could help avoid that. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u If he is a minor, then why is he even permitted to be posting much less conduct business on these boards? I have been here three years and he has claimed to be 18 the entire time. Sorry....my mistake.GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u No way. There were pictures of him and Borock from SD last year. He is like 16-17 now and was 13 or 14 when he started posting here. If that's the case...someone really needs to get his parents involved. This could be a sign of a much deeper issue that's causing him to act out...maybe even worse behavior can be nipped in the bud.GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
