  1. This doesn't seem to be a "rare" book. I could be wrong, but it seems to be fairly well traded back and forth. What's this one's grade?
  2. Tales of Suspense #57, I'm not pressing it, but I'm curious about the grade you think it is.
  3. All American Comics #3, What to do, what to do... This is history, and very rare, so I may just pay to have it restored and then slabbed.
  4. I'd be tempted as well, but what else is going on with that book? Anything inside?
  5. Water stains kill me when it comes to grading, but from what I understand this can't get much above a 4.0. If not for that water staining, a 7 - 7.5 IMO.
  6. I've been selling comics for over 25 years, most of the time as a hobby, but I have bought out comic shops before. I'm not saying I'm great at it, but it's just one of the things I do. I've been collecting since about 1979, but I'm not really keeping much anymore. I'd been wanting to start pressing and just putting it off. I just bought a press, so I'll get the rest of the stuff and try it out. I'll press what I would send to someone else to be pressed, and then the only thing I can't do is dry clean. I've always wanted to learn more about restoration and preservation, this is just a step towards that now that I have the time.
  7. "I have learned I am terrible at grading" You and me both apparently.
  8. I am looking at the $500 range, trying to figure out how cheap I can get one for without compromising quality. I'll get a cheaper one, and make it pay for the better one. Which is kinda like making a guy work to train his replacement, but luckily heat presses don't have a union.... Yet.
  9. 8.5? But I don't know, that one is hard. Color break crease on the back?
  10. I looked at what just a very small stack of the tens of thousands of books I have to sell would cost to press and decided I'm buying my own. I'm studying up now.
  11. I'm not familiar with grader notes as CGC does it now. Did you have to pay extra for those?
  12. After hearing all the comments this morning, and knowing that I have thousands and thousands of comics to sell, I'm buying my own press. For the cost of 10 books I can buy one, I'm a very skilled craftsman and I have 40+ boxes to sell. I also have plenty of books to practice on. Now I just need to know which one to get.
  13. Those tears even went through to pages..... Hmmmmm, those low grades are tough.
  14. Did the writing on the back remain? I'm glad I under grade, but I wish I knew how this got a 3.0.
  15. 2.0 max. The writing hurts it as well. But that could be removed if it's not written too deeply.
  16. Since it is a #2, I don't think I'm slabbing it, but I am sending comics to get cleaned and pressed, and I will have this one cleaned. Particularly, I will have them remove the one piece of tape that is still on it, and remove any glue from where the other piece had been. I want it to be preserved, it's still a number 2.
  17. I really need to post photos with these scans. I had forgotten, but yes, there are some tears at staples and I wont be pressing it. I gave it a 4.0. Next time I'll post photos.
  18. Thanks, I am looking into WHO to get pressing done by. I gave it a 5.0
