  1. Please return all 3 copies and I will refund your full amount. That would be my reply. See what he says to that. I always worry about the switcheroo - "alright here ya' go... " and you end up with a worse copy than you sent. But if it's a decent chunk of money, not much else you can do. If it's not a lot of money, just refund and move on.I did this recently, sold a $10 book and it ended up having tape on the inside (I couldn't believe I missed it but I did) and so I just asked for pics of the tape and sure enough it was there on the book I sent him. Full refund, profuse apologies and told him to keep the book (I don't want to pay shipping to get back a book worth $1.00) Yea that's another factor I was worried about since this guy is a seller, he will most likely have other copies if he wanted to pull a switcheroo. That is something I like to avoid. I offered him a partial refund less than what he requested for and if he didn't like that offer, I asked that he return the books for a full refund. Should have already guessed, he opted for the money. I gave him the partial refund and will be moving on from this...and yes he has already been added to my block list.
  2. Anyone ever dealt with miss_sf143? This guy bought out my 3 copies of Infinity Gauntlet #1 described in NM and is now requesting a partial refund because he says he feels they are in NM- condition. I looked at his account and sure enough he has his own store which I have a feeling he is trying to shaft me so he can bring in a larger profit margin once he tries to resell them. Just wanted to see if anyone else has interacted with him. If not, sellers beware.
  3. Are there any demand for the other Fatal Attraction issues like X-Factor #92 or X-Force #25 etc that have the same blue error hologram? I'm curious to see why only this issue is in the spotlight when the other books potentially have the same blue hologram error.
  4. I would like to nominate eBay user dreboon_4 to the block list. This person placed an offer on one of my books which was accepted and never paid. Instead I get the following lame excuse blaming his son and wishing to cancel the order. "Please cancel this order my son got on an bid on about 30 items over 1500.00 of stuff I can't pay please I beg you to cancel the order I don't want to ruin my account with ebay I'm so sorry to cause you this bother thank you an get back to me asap an let me know what's going on I am loosing sleep over this thank you again I 21hope you understand an his butt is grounded till he's " This sounded really familiar with the bad grammer and same lame excuse I've gotten before and sure enough, in my current block list was dreboon2! Sonuvagun did this twice to me using two accounts. This guy seems to have a bad habit of just thrill bidding with no intention of paying. I highly recommend adding his accounts to your block list unless you wanna deal with the headache.
  5. Rumors: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=5185348&fpart=3908 Ah that would explain it...
  6. Did something get announced for X-23 recently? Just had a whole slew of offers come at me for my NYX 3 CGC 9.8 copy on eBay within the last two days and somebody hit my BIN of $600 just a few minutes ago.
  7. Got this in last week, but didn't get the chance to take pictures until now. I may have went overboard with the pre-orders last year since I have 4 more from Sideshow after this and I am totally out of room to display any new statues. Originally I was planning to sell off this Spider-Man until I saw it in hand. I was literally blown away how well it was made. I mean the dynamic pose and the paint application is just phenomenal! Sideshow is starting to redeem themselves and I am beginning to build up hope that the other pre-orders will come out as well as this statue did. Let me say this out loud. THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST SPIDER-MAN STATUE OUT THERE! This is definitely a keeper now in my collection. Did I mention how much I love the box art!? Here he is with the regular head and hand. ...and now with the exclusive head and hand. The base was my least favorite part of the statue, but still it's not as bad as most folks complained about. The girders actually looks realistically like metal, but it's anything but metal. While I felt they could have executed the explosion better, the result is not too shabby. Overall I give this statue a 9.5 out of 10.
  8. There's a known manufacturing defect with that issue which I believe has been discussed somewhere on this board before which is causing the low 9.8 population. I have personally gone through hundreds of copies of this book even in dealer's overstock from the 90's where they have not been touched. Every single copy had that issue which kinda begs the question on how some copies manage to get the 9.8 grade. If you look at the 9.8 book that was sold, you can clearly see the spine defect. Yet there are books that have more noticeable defects (Men In Black #1, Outcast #1) that get a 9.8 as well... So, I guess we'll never know.. I keep on pre-screening W#35 each time I find them in the wild in amazing condition and they keep on coming back rejected Ditto. So far I have not found any rhyme or reason why a few copies made the 9.8 grade while the rest gets rejected on the pre-screen. It's almost like it depends on how the graders were feeling that day.
  9. It's just another example of label chasing a popular character for a registry set. Not much different than what happened with the first slabbed HG Bronze or any other low pop book. Certainly no worse than paying crazy prices for 9.9s or 10s. Yup agreed. This book holds no significance / importance to the Marvel universe. It's all about the Wolverine collectors trying to fill their 9.8 run that's driving the high dollar.

  11. Unfortunately if you don't have any direct hook ups from dealers / friends from Singapore, the only other option is to pony up the insane after market price on eBay. This is indeed a low ES. I only remember Black Widow having that low ES in their line up.
  12. NICE! That's one heck of a PO list. I'm already struggling for space. I currently have four confirmed PO's from SS as listed. Have no idea where I will be displaying these once I get them. The Amazing Spider-Man PF Batman *Christian Bale* Dark Knight PF Red Sonja PF Dark Phoenix PF I'm also on the fence considering on adding XM Witchblade to my PO list until they can address / finalize the colors and portraits. XM will be announcing their US distributor soon for their top cow license. Hopefully this should bring down some of the after market prices in that line up. Witchblade is really the only Top Cow's character that I've been a fan of. However, currently I'm not too happy with their choice of color for the armor and the portraits revealed so far is kinda so-so. Hopefully the final product will be a bit different, but here's hoping...
  13. Make sure you don't trim off the Prime 1 statues. Would like to see you do a review on them. I'm curious to see their level of quality. It wasn't intentional, but the order I listed them above is the order they would get axed if I am forced to cut back. And actually, if Prime 1's Harley Quinn goes up soon, which is the rumor, the PFs will be gone. PFs won't ever be tough to track down later, but Prime 1 EXs will be, if for no other reason that I'll have a hard time finding reasonable shipping rates. I'll definitely be following up with that Harley Quinn. If they knock it out of the ballpark with the sculpt, it may be my first order with Prime 1 Studios. Have you seen the teaser pics? Prime 1 is killing me. Realistically, I'm only going to be able to do a handful of pieces from the line, so I was thinking about just having an all villain set, at least for now. They're making a lot of Batman, so I may hold off on picking one as much as I love the Noel, but Harley, Deathstroke, Scarecrow, Joker and Two-Face would make an awesome set. Yep, I saw those over at Statue Forum. Looks like a mix media and the details are simply amazing! I'm just waiting until they reveal the portraits.

  16. Yea no joke. You really got to be on their site the minute they release the pre-order to secure one. There's way too many scalpers snagging these the instant it goes online. As a result, the available pre-order don't usually last more than a day or two.

  18. Again the big difference is in MOS 17, there's really no arguing that those were not Doomsday fists. However, in Web 18, those hands are just too ordinary looking and there's no other supporting evidence that they belong to Eddie Brock / Venom. I know what you mean that it would make sense that they should belong to Venom, but what's stopping a writer from making a new villain tomorrow that knows Spider-Man's secret identity and can evade his spider sense? If that writer decides to reference back to Web 18 stating that this character has always been stalking or trying to kill him, that will throw a wrench to all the folks that bought the book thinking it was Venom. I'm not saying its not Eddie's Brocks hands nor can anyone officially say it belongs to him. It's just too vague to be considered a key. Start listing to this at about 25:40: https://superiorspidertalk.com/spider-talk-and-their-amazing-friends-w-david-michelinie/ Thanks, so this podcast pretty much confirms that Eddie Brock / Venom was not even created yet when Web 18 was released. David Micheline was originally planning on creating a female villain which got nixed by the EIC. This literally goes back to what I have been saying all along, that hand is literally just a placeholder for a villain that has not materialized yet. This is my stance on why the book shouldn't be considered a key of any sort. So you're saying that Eddie is the important part of Venom? Okay... You know character designs get changed all the time, especially early in their existence (including before publication), right? Yes I understand that characters get changed all the time, but all we've been given in Web 18 is just a generic hand and "planning stages" behind the scenes by the creators. The character was still on the drawing board waiting to be designed. How is that supposed to be considered a key? So if I draw a random foot today in the latest issue of ASM kicking Spidey, but I don't refine and develop the character until four years later to tie it back to the foot, is this issue with the foot considered a key now? To me the concept seems a bit silly. To each its own, if folks are willing to spend good money on this book and call it a key, then by all means. To me, I will never consider it as one.

That's fine, but show me some evidence that Marvel had Venom designed and named like character sketches dated in 1986. Otherwise, as I originally said, this book is nothing else but a placeholder for a future villain. They can create any villain and tie that issue to it.

  22. My point is there needs to be a fine line drawn on what's considered as a cameo / first appearance. I know what you're saying but Web 18 is only a "placeholder" for a villain to be announced soon. I just can't consider that book as a first appearance when the character has not been designed or named yet. It's like somebody saying oh remember this issue ## that came out in 1964 on page so and so where you only see part of somebody's pinky toe.....oh that's Carol Danvers.....*rolls eyes*
  23. I've grabbing copies whenever I can find them, but never ever paying that much. Maybe he or she knows something we don't know. Really not even the right book to speculate on ? #53 would be the KEY. Why not pick up both? I been plucking both of these books in bargain bins for years whenever I see them. I have a strong feeling this will end up the same as Man of Steel 17/18 where X-Man #15 may get a stronger price boost simply because the print run is far lower than X-Men #53. Booth are good. but x-man #15 is just a shadow cameo. It's the same with MOS#17 where you only see Doomsday's fists, yet it commands a much higher price than MOS#18. Yes but Web 18 does not. Web 18 is just one of those books I refuse to accept as a key issue. The book was released like a year and a half before Venom first appeared in the ASM title. That hand is just way too generic and who knows if Venom was actually even conceptualized at the time of Web 18's release. This is one of those books where I'll actually roll my eyes if someone tells me it's Venom's first appearance or cameo. At least in MOS#17, you can actually tell those are Doomsday's fists. In any case, the whole concept on how the market considers which book to get for a character's first appearance is inconsistent. Since both X-Man #15 and X-Men #53 can still be found in the bargain bins, I'll say pick up both to be on the safe side. Again, it's just my hunch that this may follow MOS #17/18 route.
