  1. So I just found out that the Tombo glass doors for the BESTA cabinets from IKEA has been discontinued. This certainly throws a wrench into my plans to set up a display for my SS PF's and XM statues. Anybody got any good recommendations for alternatives?
  2. I find it even more amazing that the books are already re-listed when the seller doesn't even have them back yet...
  3. Oat Willy, I guess you never thought I happen to be a board member. So for everyone else that wants a clarification, here are the facts from my side. I am assuming he is referring to the following auction since that's the only item I have initiated a return request on. http://www.ebay.com/itm/EVIL-ERNIE-1991-92-Eternity-Mini-Series-1-5-1st-LADY-DEATH-/121681830184?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=n2GhZLDVL556jUvAIKQ9ErCZbNc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Normally I don't bother with returning items unless I feel the books are grossly over graded compared to what was advertised which happens to be the case here. He advertised issue #1 as VF+ but it was more of a Fine / Fine+ condition. I just like how he twisted the situation claiming I didn't read the description and am returning it just because I felt like it. Sorry my friend, I got better things to do with my spare time. Now let's get to the second part. I sent him a message telling him that I would like to return the books since I feel they are over graded. After I didn't hear back from him, I initiated a return request through eBay hoping to get a response back. He did respond back later that day to my original eBay message stating that he is out of town and can take care of it on 7/13. I responded back that I am ok with this. Now I never initiated any type of PayPal dispute which he is claiming. The only thing I did was start a return request through eBay and that was it. I do not know why his PayPal account went into negative balance nor was this any of my intentions. Again, I just like how this was twisted in his version of the story in which he stated he replied first and I opened a PayPal dispute afterward which is far from the truth. I would definitely like to hear more on what Oat Willy has to say now that the facts have been brought out from the other side of the table. If this was all a misunderstanding, then I would like to get this resolved amicably. Who's twisting what? I replied to your message asking to do a return almost immediately, letting you know that I would accept the return. Didn't hear anything back from you, and after a couple days I thought you had either decided to keep the books, or you were going to follow my instructions and send them back. Then I get your reply to my message AND the notice of your dispute at the same time. When you filed the dispute, they immediately pulled the funds out of my paypal account. My balance was at 0.00 so this threw my account into a negative balance. I found this out this morning when I tried to pay an invoice for an item I had purchased. Well guess what, now that seller's finances are affected also because I can't pay them via paypal. As for how we can resolve this, it would be much appreciated if you would cancel that dispute (which also affects my sellers rating btw), and just send the books back to me like I had already offered to let you do. If you are eager to get this rolling I will be home on Monday 7/13, so if you want to send them before that so that they arrive on Monday, but no sooner, that would be great. I can reimburse you the shipping if you use Media Rate with Tracking (delivery confirmation). Please package well so they arrive in the same condition you received them in. Feel free to use the same carton I sent them in if it's still in good shape. As for the books. I stand by my grading. But no problem, you weren't happy, and I want my buyers to happy, first and foremost. Oat Willy, I'll let the others judge if anything was twisted now that both side of the story has been presented. Let me re-iterate for you the sequence of events. *I initiated the return request on eBay on the morning of July 2nd *You responded to my original eBay message later in the afternoon on July 2nd. *I responded back to you on the morning of July 4th. That was it. I did not file any dispute with PayPal. There would be no sense in me in opening a dispute since you already agreed to the refund. It just doesn't make sense. I do not know why PayPal would take away your funds when the eBay case has not been closed yet. I would recommend checking with PayPal on this and how it is tied to the return request from eBay. I'm sorry to hear about your PayPal balance being affected, but I am still puzzled on why you can't make payment with other methods like a credit card tied to your account or balance the account with a direct deposit from your bank? If this is due to a financial issue on your end, again I am sorry to hear about it but I am not sure how this becomes my problem. Unfortunately, I do not feel comfortable with cancelling the return request until everything is settled. If I cancel the request, eBay will assume the transaction is good and I will have no recourse or protection if the refund process does not work out. Once everything is settled satisfactory, I will be glad to cancel the request and leave a positive note. Since the carton is still in good shape, the books will be returned to you in the exact same fashion as I have received them.

  5. Here are more pictures of the statue now that I had more time to go through all the goodies it came with. There are seven swappable hands to display her holding different weapons. I just like the fact that they included a separate bust using a revolving cylinder as a stand. The head is swappable with the statue. The lamp on the wall actually lights up which I think is a nice touch. The silver coin is definitely a nice bonus. I don't think there are any other statues in the current market that comes with this many accessories!
  6. Finally got my first XM statue. FEDEX just dropped off this 31lb beauty on my doorstep today shipped directly from Singapore. Here are my initial impressions. I can say that XM definitely does better in paint job and QC compared to Sideshow. The packaging is also a lot more sturdy so you wouldn't have to worry as much with rough handling. The only drawback that I can think of is the lack of cover art for the box which Sideshow excels at. Other than that, XM is definitely putting out a better product.
  7. If you entertain veteran discounts in your listings, request a pic/scan of this form from the individual asking as proof of their service: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DD_Form_214 Ive never see that one. I always discount active members as soon as I see the APO address. The APO addy is good verification as well. I personally like to thank you, Escaflown4, and/or other eBay sellers that offer vet discounts, active or retired. As a vet myself, it's very much appreciated. I never ask for discounts; serving my country & retuning home to family, friends, and the beloved hobbies is good enough for me... (thumbs u You're welcome and I appreciate all that you and other veterans have done for us and for the country. (thumbs u Usually when I ship to military base addresses, I load them up with free books. I don't mind giving discounts to veterans, but I just need a way to verify their service. I'll remember to ask for that form should I ever get another similar request.
  8. So I just got a message on eBay from someone asking for a discount claiming to be a disabled army veteran. Normally I am all for it since I have nothing but the highest respect for them. How do you guys normally handle these requests and verify that you're actually dealing with an army veteran? Would this be out of good faith? However, after checking this guy's feedback history, I think I will hold back on doing any business with him. It's literally covered in red starting on page 2 and after. http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&ftab=FeedbackLeftForOthers&userid=goarmy12345&iid=-1&de=off&items=25&mPg=4&page=3
  9. My statue collection is quite small as I only started collecting them since last year. I only have two Sideshows so far, but it'll start expanding once I create more space to display them. I don't recall anyone posting up the SS Lady Death in this thread, but here's mine which I think is still the best representation of her in the market. Next up is the exclusive Rogue which I am currently displaying her with the modern head. It took me a while to locate one without the messed up painted eyes which many of these Rogues originally came with. A lot of folks were not happy with Sideshow for this QC defect, but I think this statue turned out pretty nice. So...let's keep this thread going. I want to see some more statues!
  10. You are correct. Huntress only makes a few "shadow" appearances in All-Star #69. You can barely even tell it was her until the last page of the book.
  11. You guys might want to avoid buying any books from this seller. tdublogan Bought a book from him and it was shipped in just a plain yellow mailer envelope with one piece of bubble wrap inside and that's it! He didn't even have the decency to write "DO NOT BEND" or anything on the envelope. You can imagine how bent and crumpled up the book arrived. When I brought the issue up to him, he claims he bubble wrapped the book and is blaming USPS for the damage. WTF is one sheet of bubble wrap going to do!? Needless to say, this looks like it will have to escalate to Ebay for resolution.
  12. Psylocke FTW! http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-Men-Sword-of-the-Braddocks-1-May-2009-Marvel-VF-NM-Psylocke-/261843744193?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cf71a75c1&nma=true&si=rrI%252FgOQ9Iz%252FRm8oOJqljNAKxvTI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  13. That is insane...for a raw copy... Time to break out my short box of Rai #0's out!
  14. X-Men #256 might get a small bump, but I think New Mutants Annual #2 and Captain Britain #8 will be the big winners here.
  15. Yup i agree with you 100%. However, this is one book I have "hoarded" for many years. Some of these copies came from collections from folks that used to serve in the army. I remember one particular Bronze / Copper collection I bought from a service member had the MJ inserts in almost all of the books and a star stamp on the front covers. I recalled there were some Darkhawks in that collection including issue #1 but none of them had any MJ inserts. Which is why I said I am totally convinced that no MJ inserts exist for the Darkhawk books.
  16. I would still hold on to your copies. You just never know.....
  17. That's incredible for a book that was $3 until a month ago. I would say that this book is hard to find in the wild in great condition. lots of copies i've seen have issues True... the white cover picks up ink/dirt pretty easily, the back cover is all black... which causes ink/dirt to rub off. Plus a lot of these have been in store stock for years because they were popular but not impossible to find. Supply was there, so that supply has been handled. Someone has at least a small hoard of them, though, because two new CGC 9.9 showed up on the census this week with several CGC 9.8. I don't know if they were fast-tracked or if they happened to be in the queue already. In 2003/2004 a small local dealer was trying to move a long box or so of Rai #0s (plus more Turok #1s, Ninjak #1s, etc) that he got on consignment. It was old store stock from a LCS that had gone under. I wonder where they all went as the couple of copies I pulled out were 9.8s. A lot of them were single bagged so they did not pick up the dust/ink transfer you commonly see in store stock books. I wouldn't be surprised at all if there are bundles of un-circulated copies sitting in warehouses. In 2006, I came across three packs of un-circulated X-O Manowar #1's (total of 30 copies) still sealed in the original distributor bags. Also from the same seller I bought two packs of Archer & Armstrong #0 and a pack of Ghost Rider #1 (1990). The seller claims to have bought out a warehouse collection of un-circulated comics. If I had more money during that time, I would have probably bought more from him. Since then, I have submitted many copies of those books to CGC and a majority of them came back 9.8's.
  18. I own enough Darkhawk #1's to say that no mark jeweler inserts exist for that book. I also have not encounter any double covers yet.
  19. I get these once in a while when potential buyers wants to do the transaction directly from PayPal. However, I set forth my policy to not de-list anything from my Ebay store until I see payment has been made. Also I let the buyer know that if someone hits the BIN on Ebay before his/her payment is made, then the Ebay buyer gets priority on the book. This way even if the potential buyer decides to skip out on the PayPal invoice, at least your books are still up for sale at all times. It's annoying, but it sure beats having a non-paying bidder hold your books for hostage until Ebay closes the case.
  20. Sweet! I remember reading that book when it came out. Definitely brings back a lot of memories of the early 90's.
  21. Well its tough because they don't have a North American license. So you have to get them from a distributor or licensed seller. They don't just ship to you. As for Sideshow.... I am debating between ordering the Wonder Woman PF or the Sinestro PF now. Both are amazing sculpts. WW would go great with my Bats and Supes, however there seems to be a lot of quality control issues. Sinestro has a much smaller ES so it could very well be sold out soon, but I don't really have any companion pieces to place with it. Decisions, decisions. Yea their prices are insane due to the shipping cost to NA. I actually have 3 XM's on pre-order . I'm holding off sideshow at the moment. Their QC is questionable and the high edition is a turn off as well. If you are looking for a companion piece for Sinestro, I have the Sideshow normal edition Green Lantern for sale at cost if you are interested. I'm kind of in the XM phase atm. Yea, their prices are high but the more I look at their statues, the more I want them... Magneto & Thanos looks awesome....so does Phoenix and Black Widow.... The Ms. Marvel is not bad either.... Too bad they are all sold out on pre-orders. I may be tempted to get one.
  22. Did anyone here actually get a successful pre-order in with XM Studios? Looks like all of their statues have already been sold out.
  23. Am I the only one seeing this or has Journey Into Mystery #103 gotten a bump in price for no reason? I don't recall anything announced for the Enchantress.
