  1. I have always sold that book far higher than guide. It's an impulse sale, not something serious collectors buy.
  2. I'd buy one if the price is right. Maybe 25% over melt for the silver.
  3. This is an area I find CGC to be most inconsistent on. I think it can go either way. Someone mentioned it was the book owners choice, but not sure that is accurate.
  4. I'd call them and say I'm thinking about re-holdering 575 books. Can you do anything for me?
  5. I paid for this using paypal on 4-2. It turns out that the feature I used was to pay after delivery. I have paypal confirmation for the transaction. For him to claim that he waited until 4-13 for the money to clear before sending it is nonsense. Paypal paid him the same way paypal pays everyone. Near instantly. I now have the book. Paypal has not taken out the money yet, so his whole reason for the delay in shipping seems like nonsense. The money didn't clear on 4-13 from my bank. It hasn't even been withdrawn. The smaller transaction shipped a day after I paid it using the exact same method. Is there some new feature on Paypal that slows down large transactions? I know they are getting rid of the Pay after delivery option, which is a shame. Is the seller even aware that the buyer used the pay after delivery option?
  6. If you sell on ebay, you'll have your money in a few days. Sell through an auction house and you are talking weeks or months. Mycomicshop seems to pay quickly. That has not been my experience with either comiclink or comicconnect. Don't get me wrong, you will be paid. It's just that writing and signing checks don't seem to be a top priority at some auction houses.
  7. Same reason the JLA isn't called America?
  8. I've seen people arrested for selling water in Vegas, both on the strip and just at busy intersections. The next outdoor show I do, this will be a mainstay.
  9. It actually says Pay after Delivery, and the money is still in the account linked to the debit card. It's scheduled to come out April 25th. I'm going to have a little chat with the seller. I thought I had found a solid guy.
  10. I recalled it as more of a rocker myself. Hadn't heard it in many years. I was still thinking Paul was dead when this stuff came out. I'm afraid to listen to "Give Ireland back to the Irish". I really enjoyed that in the day. Slán abhaile
  11. You can always melt it down for about $20.
  12. Surprised anyone who grew up a Beatles fan didn't know it was mag neat o.
  13. I recently set up at a small fan fest. There were three and a half comic dealers. I put out a small box of slabs I'd picked up for next to nothing. Stuff like Spider-Man 173 in 4.5, Son of Satan 6 in 5.5. Priced them three for $50 and they didn't move. Lowered the price to $10 each and sold most of them. Also moved a bunch of TPBs for $5 each. Guy next to me sold water at $2 a bottle and cleaned up. Food for thought.
  14. I checked the expiration dates on both my debit and backup credit card. That's not an issue. I think the seller is playing games and simply didn't ship it in a timely fashion. That wouldn't have been an issue if he'd responded.
  15. I heard he had a prenuptial agreement that excluded his sports memorabilia collection, so he put a substantial amount of his worth into it. Most likely a fan boy rumour, but it made sense at the time.
  16. I didn't send an echeck . What part of " I didn't send an echeck" don't you get. I paid ,using my Wells Fargo debit card, just as I have paid for 67 transactions this year and over 200 last year. As a matter of fact, a second transaction with same dealer made several days later went thru and shipped the next day. The only difference I see is one transaction was for $150 and the other was almost $2000. Is there a dollar amount that changes a regular transaction to an echeck? On a separate note, do people routinely keep thousands in their PayPal accounts?
  17. Can sellers set how they accept payment? I paid through Paypal doing nothing different than the other 1500 transactions I have. I don't care that he waited, it bothers me that the communications were lacking, although he claims he emailed me.
  18. On 3/30 I purchased a CGC Spidey 129 from a dealer. As of today it hasn't arrived. Seller informs me the pay pal payment didn't clear until 4/13( I sent it 4/2). I've never heard of not shipping until PP clears. In fact, I often choose the pay after delivery service. Is this something new or just a bad seller?
  19. Where is Doug these days? That's where I'd be spending my money.
  20. I can't help you but am very curious to see what answers you get. Odd sized pints are a bane. I've been looking for cheap methods to display these for sale myself.
  21. Telling a reader what extra goodies are in the slab he'll never read seems cruel. Anyone looking to read the story where Hans first meets Chewie isn't going to buy a slab just because it says it on the label.
  22. I'm a big fan of those boxes POW was putting out for Stan each month so after a couple of nibbles, I subscribed. $323 for an annual membership of six big boxes. On the same day, I also placed a separate order for a $14.95 small monthly box. October comes around and I get both boxes. November comes and I get an unsolicited, unpaid for small box. I email them and they say forget about it, their mistake and just keep it. December comes and I get another small box. This one I return unopened, tell them they sent another but I returned it. I then get an email telling me my large box has shipped. It never arrives. Around this time, they cancel their phone or change numbers without publicizing the new number. Even paypal doesn't have a number for them. I email them a dozen times, no response. I look at their website and I see the December box is marked shipped and the Feb. box is listed as suspended per my request. The email on the paypal transaction goes to a fulfillment center that forwarded me a customer service email at an email that bounces back. Talked to my bank today about a charge back It's a shame because I really got a kick out of the stuff in the big boxes. Worth way more than $50, to me. I have no idea if this is tied up with any of Stan's problems or if this is just a glitch, but even my banker mentioned how this seems set up to avoid customer interactions. Anyone else having an issue with them?
