wifey and I went to see Barton Fink when we were a'courtin' and have loved their work ever since. I can get excited about most of them, although not so much Ladykillers (its growing on me) and Man who wasn't there (gotta rewatch again perhaps). But the one I love and wifey is bleh on is Intolerable Cruelty...I think it is brilliant. Clooney enjoys playing the fool in the Coen movies and he does it so well, and I think Tom Hanks tried too hard to do something similar in Ladykillers. Clooney clearly doesn't take himself too seriously which is on clear display in his work in O Brother and Intolerable Cruelty.
Coen Brothers are one of my favorites still actively making films , my hit list being :
O brother where art thou, fargo, big Lebowski ,blood simple, raising Arizona , millers crossing, true grit - and my personal fave : no country for old men

Great stuff here , Ronin is largely forgotten - but a very good lower budget heist . Heat is THE standard for bank robbery movies ( “ the town “ does a great job a decade plus later ) and Leon is amazing !
Army of Darkness is awesome incarnate ...
really a great list !

Great list - brining back my 80’s youth ( minus “ Never ending Story “) the “Mac and Me “scene with the wheelchair and subsequent “ Mystery Science Theatre” rendition is priceless

The car wash scene was as legendary too
So was the egg scene ... I’m ashamed to admit I knew the sampled words from the Guns N Roses “Civil War” song Before I saw the actual Newman Film

I don't even remember 190 and 191.
Now, I'm dying to know if The Incredible Hulk was able to defeat "The Toad Men".
Throw back to issue # 2

its pretty clear that the first appearance of the most popular superhero team of the 80s, 90s and beyond is far more significant than the first appearance of j jonah jameson.
Unfortunately I can’t “ laugh 😂 at this - but I concur - and spot on 💯

Love that cover , I recently sold a few of my DC / horror keys this year and that was one of them - for the most part it’s been funds to complete runs and continue with Marvel keys - but always a sought after book

Wow - and I always thought that was playful pranking with him and Holland ( who roasted him good saying “ Falcon” never had a movie ) that being said ... he was the villain in 8 mile

To be honest ... of ALL the announced Disney streaming series : Loki, Hawkeye , WandaVision and Falcon/ Winter soldier - I was the most excited about this - hoping they continue in the vein of The Winter Soldier film which is still probably my favorite MCU movie ... I equate it to Tom Clancy doing Marvel comics

This movie blew my mind - no stop action and one of the best 2/1 fight scenes I’ve ever seen ... nice to know these guys have finally branched over to US films ( and a small cameo in Force Awakens )

No Seagal? I kid but I enjoyed those movies up until, and including, Under Siege. I think Out for Justice is my favorite due to the villain (William Forsythe), who is excellent in the role.
I saw a comedian once talk about those Seagal movies...the title is exactly what you get in the movie. And very little other than that. He is a joke now but those movies were raw and rough and a lot of fun.
I was always more of a Van Damme guy than Seagal...

Funny that you say outta nowhere. I've been waiting for this for a year.
I guess I’m more out of the loop than I thought - I only read a handful of moderns, to be honest

My wife and I went to New York City to see the naked lunch in the theater it is quite an odd movie you are correct there
And another visit we saw a documentary called my brothers keeper. That’s an odd one too you will not expect what happens
Yeah Naked Lunch is not for the faint of heart , alot of not so subtle references - it’s almost an autobiographical account of William S Burroughs life , and Peter Weller is the man !

What was your top 3?
Criterion collection ? Very tough with 1400 movies - too many sub genres to choose from - I would recommend ... a few movies that really make you think ..
The Seventh Seal
Onibaba
Man Bites Dog
If...
Naked Lunch
and Aguirre the Wrath of God ... and criminally NOT on Criterion last I checked
these movies are odd , you have been warned -

I gotta watch Barton Fink again . As a fellow NJian - you’ll appreciate Burn After Reading’s “ gym scenes “ were filmed at the former Tower Records in Paramus
