  1. Hi everyone, Just upgraded a book so I am selling these two nice keys. Both books have more vibrant colors than the photos show as I just took these pics tonight - I can retake pics tomorrow in the daylight if requested. Payment by PayPal only. No HOS. First gets the book. Shipping is Free for both books. I am a long time buyer and seller on eBay and my ID is "vanhelsing75" First up - Fantastic Four 48 CGC 6.0 with off-white pages. First appearance of the Silver Surfer and Galactus. Nice looking key book that is heating up quickly with the recent Disney acquisition of them. $600 Second book - Amazing Spiderman 135 CGC 9.2 with perfect white pages. Second appearance of the Punisher and a fantastic looking cover. $200 If someone wishes to buy both books I will do a deal of $780.
  2. Well, I sent CC an email yesterday with the screenshots and asked what exactly happened. I got a response back today stating that the book did not sell on eBay (which I knew) but that the seller no longer had the book in their possession - which I would have believed except that the seller sent me two counteroffers, the second which I accepted immediately. Anyway, not really CC's fault but the seller is certainly shady.
  3. Ah, I see. FF#55 does sport a great action cover as well.
  4. Thanks Bomber-Bob, I think that I will call CC today about this.
  5. Wouldn't FF#55 be the Silver Surfer's 4th appearance?
  6. Here is both my email confirmation from Comic Connect and the update on the book being sold at the higher price. Sorry that the book is not CGC graded but the other copy I am looking at is :-)
  7. Thanks guys for the input and I understand that Comic Connect didn't have the book on their possession and it was seller's responsibility. Now I look back on Comic Connect and they list the book as sold for $40 more than the counteroffer I accepted. Of well, at least I didn't send in the check immeadiately and there is still another copy coming up in CL's auction.
  8. Hi everyone, Just wanted to vent here and get any thoughts on my situation. I had been looking for a particular graded 9.0 book and found it on both Comic Connect and Comic Link. As Comic Link has the book listed in an upcoming auction I checked out Comic Connect which had the book for sale on their exchange. I made an offer, and was offered a counteroffer which I accepted and filled out the information to complete the sale. The next day I get a call from someone at Comic Connect telling me that the book had actually sold a few minutes before on eBay and so I could not get the book. Here's where I get annoyed - I know for a fact that the book did not sell on eBay because I had been checking the listings there for that particular book and even checked the sold listings. I told this to the Comic Connect guy who just repeated the book was already sold. Very frustrating and I don't think I would try and do business with Comic Connect again. Chris
  9. I would say a 6.5-7.0. Some color breaking creases on the front cover and spine creases on the back. Nice looking book though.
  10. Thanks Bomber-Bob. I was hoping perhaps a 7.5-8.0 but I see your point. I currently have a CGC graded 6.0 so I will probably try to find a copy in better condition to upgrade.
  11. Hi everyone, I am looking to upgrade my copy of FF#48 and spotted this raw copy. Not sure how the miss-wrapped cover affects the grade so I was curious what members thought this book would grade as? Chris
  12. I'm a big Silver Surfer fan and had FF 48-50 all at one time or another starting with low grade copies many years ago. Recently sold my FF 50 CGC 8.5 to get a FF 49 CGC 8.5 as I think it is the more important book and my favorite cover of the trilogy. Used to own a FF 48 CGC 9.2 but sold it to pay bills :-( Now I just picked up a CGC 6.0 copy and will work on upgrading it in the near future.
  13. Wow, I would have loved to get this book. Please keep me in mind if the sale doesn't go through.
  14. Thanks for the link to your Post - I check it out. Here is a real rarity from my collection - a 1950s collector card from a British insurance company featuring Peter Cushing - and he had signed it :-)
  15. I should mention that I got the chance to be a guest speaker at two Doctor Who conventions held here on Long Island. I did a presentation on the first one all on Cushing's Who and we screened the two Who films. For the second one I did a presentation all on K-9's greatest episodes ;-)
  16. Cushing was playing a sort of eccentric scientist in the Dr. Who films - not even an alien which is why they are considered non-cannon. I find the first Dr. Who film way too slow and rather dreadful but the second was somewhat enjoyable. A third film was planned but the second's profits didn't justify it. Cushing played a very similar character in the Amicus film At The Earth's Core. For great Cushing films I would recommend Hammer's Horror of Dracula, Brides of Dracula, Frankenstein Created Woman, Frankenstein Must be Destroyed, Cash on Demand, and Captain Clegg. Cushing's role in the Amicus film Tales from the Crypt is excellent, and two independent films with great Cushing performances are The Creeping Flesh and Horror Express. Of course you cannot mention Cushing without Christopher Lee and three of the films I mentioned feature the two horror stars together - they were perfect foils for each other. On a related comic book related note - Cushing was supposed to star in Hammer's 1975 film adaptation of Vampirella (Barbara Leigh would have played Vampirella) but Hammer was falling apart by that time.
  17. Thanks for the heads up! Sounds like a must have :-)
  18. I'm a HUGE Peter Cushing fan. I run a FB group on him and he was the subject of the first biography that I wrote - "In All Sincerity... Peter Cushing". Of course besides comics I collect all things Cushing related :-)
  19. Thank you everyone for chiming in with your thoughts. Just pulled the trigger on an Amazing Spiderman 135 CGC 9.2 Now, when I build some funds again I will have to choose between Giant Size Spiderman 4 and Marvel Preview 2 ;-)
  20. Thank you for the comments everyone - never knew about the pocket folder!
  21. Hello forum members, I am looking to get a Punisher key comic as I got back into the character after watching the Netflix series. I don't have enough for an Amazing Spiderman 129 so I am instead focusing on either Amazing Spiderman 135 (Punisher's full second appearance) or Marvel Preview 2 (origin of the Punisher). Which book do you members think would be the better buy? Chris
