  1. You just put it in the notes next to each book the special label you want. Then in the middle of the form, add “Custom labels # x $5 =$X then add this to the total.
  2. Plus $15 if reholdering. I am slowly upgrading my old style holders to a new ones and paying the extra $5 for Walking Dead labels when I do.
  3. Just do not store your products in a fireproof / fire resistant safe. Big thread on that with some horror stories of exactly the same brand I own. So switched to a larger safe that is not fireproof. Basically a strong metal box with a keypad lock that I bolted to the floor. Will stop the average grab-and-go thief but I also have an alarm and the safe is in an unusual location, tough to find. Always laid my slabs down. Never considered putting them spines down. What is the benefit of that?
  4. Hey Hawkman - those are some really cool alternative covers. I know in the current ComicConnect auction going on now there are a ton of Serbian and Argentinian versions for sale. Since it's not my collecting area I cannot recall if there were any B&W covers but worth a look to track the prices if so. I have only been collecting TWD for a year so am not a good barometer of what these rare variants are worth.
  5. Hey Big Clutch! I heard you are a big shot at Skybound I can use some inside knowledge. When I first started collecting TWD, I really loved the Letter Hacks. So much so that I back-collected the raw books to #30 while dipping my toe into the CGC-graded waters. I read 97 to current with Letter Hacks in succession, it was fun to watch Sean and Robert steer people the wrong way when they guess the plot correctly, but was a bit concerned about reading the older books to not cause damage (LOL). So I want to read Issue 2 to 96 in succession while reading the Letters / Letter Hacks. I really would prefer not to buy all the books that were not reprinted #3 to #29. So can you tell me if the inexpensive Walking Dead Weeklies have the same Letters as the originals? Someone thought they had letters but they were new for the Weekly series, which would surprise me because I can't see Robert having the time to do Weekly letters on top of everything else in his usual workflow. Or maybe there are no letters at all. Can you clear this up for me? I can't afford to back collect all the raw books and eBay grading is pretty bad anyway. Or is there an online way to read the early issues and get Letter Hacks? My original TWD exposure was Compendiums 1-3 and those things are huge without letters.
  6. Wow, tonight’s episode was epic. The show is back to its former glory IMO.
  7. Well pretty close. I started working on this at 7:30pm and I see my post is 10:10pm and I was somewhat distracted by the show (the women ARE attractive after all). So a few hours max including the write-up which I wrote as I went through the issues. I already had the CGC Census from last July. If you do a census search on Walking Dead, then choose Image as the publisher, you get all the first 90 or so issues in a list (Image/Skybound pulls up the rest), just pull one up, collect the info then hit back in your browser and go to the next. Pretty easy. And I am a Marketing and Analytics Consultant by trade, so doing this stuff is pretty routine for me.
  8. So my wife and teenage daughter are watching the Bachelor so I have 2 hours of a mind-numbing show to deal with. I was updating my TWD Registry Set and I noticed that I had not updated my census numbers in my spreadsheet since July, 2018 and it's pretty easy to do once you open up the list of issues. Note that I only concentrate on Books 1-50, with a preference toward Signature Series. So I'm a bit of a data geek but I noticed some really interesting stuff, at least to me. To keep sane, I used "U" for Universal and "SS" for Signature Series. Here's what I found: * Issue 1 in 9.8 U increased from 801 to 834 and 9.8 SS 145 to 155 with 97 new certifications total. Not too exciting but gives a new baseline. I assume like certified coins (prior hobby) the pop reports overstate because people crack and upgrade or SS without sending the old label. * Issue 2 is really interesting. 9.8 U increased from 181 to 188 but 9.8 SS increased from... wait for it... 38 to 38. #2, #6 and #8 are the only issues in the Top 10 to have 0 increase in 9.8 SS over the past 8 months. And #6 has 41 and #8 has 72. Really surprising only 38 for #2. * Issue 4 had only 1 9.8 U increase, from 224 to 225 and 9.8 SS from 55 to 58. Not much action there. * Issue 5 had just 1 9.8 SS increase from 42 to 43. * Issue 6 had no change in 9.8 SS, still at 41 * Issue 10 had a pretty good increase overall from 835 to 873 but only 10 in 9.8 U and 1 in 9.8 SS. So this confirms my hypothesis that as the series goes on, it is harder and harder to add 9.8 level books. * Again reinforcing the theory, Issue 11 had 16 new certifications but only 3 in 9.8 U and 0 in 9.8 SS * Continuing on, a general result seems to be only 5%-10% of new certifications get 9.8 U and a miniscule 0%-3% get 9.8 SS. This is far lower than the existing ratios of 9.8 U and 9.8 SS to the total, meaning perfect raw books are getting tough to hit 9.8. * #19 had a whopping 98 new certifications but only 2 new in 9.8 SS. Still 1 lone 9.9 U. * NONE of the really tough books with < 20 in 9.8 SS had any new issues in the 8 months. * In fact, no books after #19 added SS except Issue 27 (2) Issue 43 (1) * The hardest issue in 9.8 SS remains #39 at only 7. Just 1 more than the 35 Error. * Random fun fact. While I searched only 1-50 and other books I own in 9.8, shockingly the issue with the most 9.8s is not #1, it is #108. Top 5 in 9.8 U+SS: #108 (1,667); #127 (1,151); #100 (1,064); #1 (989); #19 (755). It's *possible* another issue is in here but I randomly selected the all the big first appearances and the rest are lower. * Just last week Issue #22 9.8 Universal sold on eBay for $217. I was shocked - most of the other books under 25 would be less than $100 and even in Signature Series that would be high. However, Issue #22 stands at just 54 in 9.8 U and 14 in 9.8 SS. Lowest regular issue 9.8 in the Top 48. I hope at least someone beside me found this interesting. Lots of interesting tidbits (and hidden deals) within the TWD CGC Census!
  9. Looking forward to seeing whose head ends up on a pike!!!
  10. Hi Stephen, Well I don't have a Second Printing and at the time I bought my #2, the second printing was selling for less than the first printing. I'm only doing books 1-50 CGC 9.8 SS with a few fun issues thrown in. But you are welcome to ask Mollie if she wants to make an adjustment to the Second Printing, though I would advocate for the same points as the First Printing as it does not sell for more. As far as other issues, I'm sure some should be considered. One I think should go down is the outrageous 640 points for the very common Issue #92 (I bought one because I like Jesus but even in CGC 9.8 it was only $60). There is no reason that book can justify nearly 3 times as many points as issues 3 and 4. But I'm only vested in the #1-48 set so was most interested in getting #2 addressed.
  11. Hi ya'll, You may notice a change in the point value of your Walking Dead Registry sets. Back in October, I asked Mollie to re-evaluate the points for Issue #2 given it is the lowest regular issue print run and has 1/4 as many in 9.8 as #1. Only 16.5% achieve a 9.8, I believe because these books were actually READ instead of many #1's getting immediately bagged and boarded for speculation. So she bumped the 9.8 Universal points from 400 to 2,880 and SS from 440 to 3,168. Obviously this creates a +248 positive swing for collections with a #2 in 9.8 Signature Series versus Universal. But IMO opinion well justified and Mollie followed-up on my research - you can see it in the "2018 This Score Needs a Fixin'" thread.
  12. I will be in London Sunday March 24 thru Friday March 29. So you're saying I cannot watch it Sunday night? I guess that makes sense given the UK is 5 to 8 hours ahead of the US depending on time zone and all the spoilers would be known before the US shows air. I likely have a client dinner that night, will probably miss it anyway and have to catch up on the next weekend.
  13. I can tell you for my kids, they have no interest in comics like in my day. My 15 year old son was a big fan of Stephen King's book The Stand, and when I found out it was done in graphic art, I happily hunted down and bought the 25 issue set. He really enjoyed that, and wanted the books for Stephen King's Dark Tower series, but there are like 70 of those so I drew the line. Basically all the kids I see don't get a lot of entertainment from hard copy anything. It's all on their phones, XBoxes/Playstations, Netflix, etc. My son does like to play sports with friends outside, he's not a shut-in, but I think looking at his friends (and ruling out my 17 year old daughter and I'm guessing most young girls who could care less about comics), there isn't the desire to read comics, much less collect them where you would feel elated to find that challenging book that took 3 months to track down. Stamp collecting died completely when the USPS went to "sticker stamps" and while coin collecting remains strong (and more expensive than comics by far), I think it too will age out eventually. I've just restarted collecting after a 35 year absence, but it is the nostalgia of my youth (and why did I sell X-Men 94 to 150 in Mint condition for like 20 cents a book????) that drives me to collect. And I love the series I read.
  14. Well not sure who will see this but it is a good sign for the show (relief!) and good news for the future. 5.2 million viewers and that only counts the First Run cable show and not streaming or reruns: The Walking Dead saw an uptick in ratings on Sunday night, proving the post-Rick Grimes era of the show is holding steady through four episodes. The Walking Dead's first episode of 2019 delivered a 2.0 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, with 1.1 million viewers in the demo. The age range of 25-54 posted a 2.5 rating, totalling 1.3 million viewers. The total viewership sat at 5.2 million viewers, which is a 1 percent increase from Episode 9x08. Talking Dead also saw an upward bump by three percent in adults aged 18-49 for a 0.8 rating and 1.1 million viewers. It totalled 2.3 million viewers overall as Greg Nicotero and Norman Reedus joined Chris Hardwick to recap the Mid-Season Nine premiere. The numbers aren't the same as The Walking Dead's previous live viewership stunners but in the post-Rick Grimes era, the AMC zombie series has proved its ability to maintain the current audience. The equivalent episode from Season Eight garnered 8.28 million live viewers. 0comments In competition with the Grammy Awards, The Walking Dead managed to finish atop the charts for cable programming, hauling in more than double the audience of 90 Day Fiance: Tell All. Talking Dead placed seventh on the night.
  15. Huh, just received a comic today I forgot I bought since it was from a ComicLink auction and I just look at eBay. Cool!!! Have you ever had something show up that you weren't expecting? Maybe some late-night online buying after too many beers??? CBUI - Comic Buying Under the Influence???
  16. Agree 100%. Those who have left are really going to miss out, it's back to as good as Seasons 2-6 IMO.
  17. Hi Bob, I very much prefer the new style holders - they are far sturdier and, to my eye, have better clarity. Also, since I collect Walking Dead, I can reholder with the custom Walking Dead label which seems to be preferred by collectors. The set I am working to complete - all with signatures of Robert Kirkman (writer) and one of the artists - has 50 books. Some come with new holders already, which is great. But I'm going to keep reholdering the older slabs. I know it's putting another $20 + postage into each book but I don't care - it's my collection and I expect to have it for a very long time (at least through the end of the comic run).
  18. Hi Stephen, please re-read my post. The 60,814 is for the regular monthly TWD issue #184. The Number (as reported by Diamond) of the 15th Anniversary Adlard cover plus the 151 store variants is 106,090. So yes, this makes sense as it is well above the minimum order quantity plus includes the Adlard variant. The #1 15th Anniversary (31,043) is a total of the 4 variants as drawn by cover artist David Finch. Hope this clears it up.
  19. Well I have only purchased about 30 pre-slabbed books that I could return but I have done 10 reholders. Nothing looks amiss. What should I be looking for with SCS?
  20. I am a true newbie. What is SCS? Maybe Shaken Comic Syndrome???
  21. Hi Stephen, Yeah the 1:100s are not core to my collection but given the rarity, I might get some. The Rank Order of the 15th Ann Variant Cover reprints is as follows: 1 - 31,043 19 - 30,864 100 - 20,914 2 - 19,011 27 - 17,944 7 - 16,852 53 - 16,766 108 - 16,662 48 - 16,637 167 - 16,361 127 - 16,168 92 - 16,082 171 - 15,847 132 - 14,859 98 - 13,540 So all versions of 98 are more than twice as rare as 19.
  22. Thanks so much for that Link!!! Here are some really interesting stats (at least to a data geek like me) from October, 2018 Sales, the month when TWD Day hit: Walking Dead Issue 184: 60,814 (have not looked to see how this has trended. Will likely add that in a future thread) Walking Dead Issue 1 15th Ann (I assume Adlard plus the store variants): 106,090, #2 most for the month of all comics and just 1,500 units shy of the top. For a Reprint!!! Walking Dead Issue 19 15th Ann: 30,864 So 308 1:100 issues Walking Dead Issue 100 15th Ann: 20,914. So 209 1:100 issues Walking Dead Issue 108 15th Ann: 16,662 So 166 1:100 issues Walking Dead Issue 48 15th Ann: 16,637 So 166 1:100 issues Walking Dead Issue 98 15th Ann: 13,530 So 135 1:100 issues Cool, I have been looking for this info!!!!
  23. Hi there TDW heads. Looking for some help. I found a website that published Image/TWD circulation numbers through about Issue 100. Does anyone have access or know what the circulation has been for all TWD books? I am most interested in 2 things. (1) Has there been a drop-off in sales in the past 36 months? I have heard stories that LCS's are ordering less copies in general. Also having been an active CGC graded TWD buyer over the past year, prices are down approx. 1/3 for 6 months ago, another sign the book has reached saturation or is in decline. (2) What are the circulation numbers for each of the 15th Anniversary reprints of #1-172? (The artist variants, not the store variants as most of them ordered the minimum 300). That seems to be the only way to determine the true rarity of the 1:10 BW Virgin and 1:100 rare issues. If someone has a link to this, I would sure appreciate it!
