  1. What is the difference between restoration removal where, for example, pieces of color touch are cut out of the book, and a kid in the 1960s using a scissors to remove an imperfection from the book? With the former, it appears that CGC will give the book a blue label, while the latter generates a purple label. Yet in both cases, the book is being altered from its original state. I don't understand the reasoning and must be missing something.
  2. Picked this up at my LCS today. Aside from the sun shadow it's pretty clean.
  3. I had a similar issue recently. My brother lives in TN and he came across an unslabbed ASM#1 in his local comic shop. He called and sent me photos of the book. I talked with the owner and he stated that the books were unrestored. I ended up buying it over the phone along with an ASM#3. Mind you, at the time I was very new to the hobby. A year goes by and I find out about these boards. I post a pic of the ASM#3 and some of the boardies point out that its been color touched. I call the owner, he claims not to have known, but agrees to a refund. Things are good. At the same time, I sent the ASM#1 to CGC. Guess what - comes back trimmed. Things are not so good. So I call the owner again and this time he tells me he cant do anything. He didn't know and the ASM#1 is too much to refund. Also, a year has gone by. At the end of the day, I blame myself and chalk it up to lesson learned. Just wish I had found out about these boards before shelling out money for what turned out to be two restored books. Now I need to upgrade ASM#1.
  4. Not sure - weird all around. I was planning on upgrading - just need to accelerate the process now.
  5. I don't have it yet - just the notes posted. But it was one day between CCS and CGC. I'm bummed about the edges - I never in a million years would have spotted it. Here is a pic of the back cover.
  6. Here are the notes - 3.5 apparent medium, multiple staple tear moderate wear spine breaks color multiple crease back cover multiple crease full bottom of front cover breaks color small, multiple tear cover trimmed full bottom of front cover trimmed full top of back cover I'd never have guessed it was trimmed. Sucks - but what can you do.
  7. I decided to send it to CGC to grade - crossing my fingers they disagree (but not holding out any hopes). I'll let you guys know.
  8. This is a timely thread. Sent this to CSC to see if it would benefit from a press before I had it graded. The email back said it was rejected as the top and bottom cover had been trimmed. I'm not sure what's trimmed - it's missing pieces from the corners! Debating what to do - have them mail it back or just get it graded.
