  1. deja vu! same set up that they had in november of last year. I couldn't find anything because everything there was high priced items that I couldn't afford. I also took a piece of art I wanted to trade but all that expensive art made me not want to ask if they were willing to trade thinking I would be shamed for having such a low priced piece. I got to meet all the dealers there except for the Donnelly brothers which I avoided from visiting.

  2. I have collected comics ever since I was about 8 years old in my first trip to the USA back in 1984 haven't stopped since. I don't know how I didn't notice OA before 2009 since I had attended one convention in NY in the '90's and one in 2007. Looking through the internet I think I came by Albert Moy's website and then it clicked for me. I went ahead and purchased a page from Promethea by JH Williams which was what I was reading back then. Haven't stopped since and have been broke ever since too. lol, I wouldn't give it up ever!

  3. Okay so I have reduced the price on this page considerably and will be listing for the last time. Forum members can contact me if they would be interested in purchasing the art outside of ebay and we can negotiate a price on it. Piece comes with an overlay depicting Galactus destroyed ship by Magus. Ron Lim's art is becoming more desirable and hence expensive as collectors are trying to get pieces from their childhood. People are also speculating on Kang and Magus coming to the MCU so this page features both plus Dr Doom!

  4. I first started buying art as an investment but have slowly found out that it is hard to find customers who wish to pay asking price so I reverted back to comics and have been making some money speculating, more so than from art.

However, I think that one might hit the jackpot with art and the gains on initial investment could be 10x or more. I know that I could make good money by selling the pieces that are in my permanent collection however being a collector those are the pieces I am not willing to let go even if I have to eat ketchup sandwiches now and then, lol.

Is there any known protection advantage to storing vertically instead of horizontally? Assume they are stored in mylars, books or both.

I wouldn´t think so but if not using a flat file I would be wary of overstacking art one on top of each other to avoid bends on any of the art and any other problems that might arise from stacking too much weight as paper is extremely heavy. Like Spidey 62 says ease of access would be an advantage of storing vertically.

I store why portfolios in two places, the six bigger than 13x19 are in a large blueprint flatfile (45"x54'). Also store very large art in there that isnt framed. As for the smaller portfolios (13x19, 14x17, 11x17 etc) I have a small alcove I built a bookshelf into. Most bookshelves are not deep enough but this one is. Plus I designed it so I had 3 shelves that fit all the portfolios.

what? how many years of collecting OA Brian? Amazing! And you aren't showing the flat files! wow

  7. Breaking by age seems appropriate. I would add that the Best of needs a category were you only vote for art that has been published in the last year. The results are not very indicative of preference if I am comparing a page published last year with a Kirby page.

Uploading to the Best of should be more simple. This was my first year participating and I hard a hard time completing all the steps necessary for me my pieces to participate.
