It’s not like Los Bros are the only shady dealers. And people seem to forget an admitted shiller is part owner of CAF.
In the end, Bill is running a business and it’s not his job to police the comic art market, nor do I think he should be in that role.

Heritage shill bidder? I didn't know he owned part of CAF interesting.

I'd love to see more pages from this series.

In fact, I want to own something with Marcos's Babs myself.

I have a coule of pages from Batgirl Year One but non feature Babs. If you are still interested please PM me so I can send you scans so that you may evaluate if you'd like a page.

I want to thank everyone for all the information, it's been great and I've been studying. Heritage would like to list it, but waiting to tell what kind of auction. A $1 opening bid makes me nervous.

Don't list it with them if they are not placing it in a Signature Auction. I recently lost a lot of money on Heritage Weekly Auctions people don't follow those as closely as a signature auction. If they decline placing it in a signature auction go with Comiclink you can contact Steve Borock to get this set up in one of their auctions.

  4. In case someone here is looking for some good art I have 10 items consigned to Heritage that are ending this coming Wednesday june 14th. Among items I can highlight a Batman Volume 3 Issue 1page by David Finch featuring Batman in action, a Gary Frank Superman Secret Origin page featuring Metallo figthing Superman, a Butch Guice Birds of Prey featuring a Joker with a cast, a Y The Last Man page by Goran Sudzuka featuring a child Dr. Mann fighting with her Mom, a Crimson page by Humberto Ramos from Issue 1, a Joe Eisma Morning Glories early page, a Thor cover by Ariel Olivetti, and a Chris Burnham Justice League Incarnate page featuring Batman Who Laughs and Darkseid.

  5. I called Mike on the Jim Calafiore Spider-Woman commission that he put yesterday for sale for more than 3 times what it sold. I am not sure it was him that bought it off ebay but if he didn't someone was wise enought o flip it to him immediately for a profit.

Prices on that show are getting ludicrous but it is mostly potentialed by collectors. If they wouldn't sell anything then I am sure the show would die like Glen, Will and Bichara's show which wasn't succesful or at least they would be willing to lower there prices more drastically in order to get those sales. As an example I can site the jam Anthony had yesterday for $1,400 he lowered his price to I think $1,100 but I wasn't willing to go that high but someone else nabbed it for that price. I honestly don't like to overpay so it's why I continously do research on current market prices.

    hi T Shen

I am thinking to part with this Gary Frank cover.

Gary told me it was  a variant cover for the 108 issue (vol 2), but I have to admit I have not been lucky to found the reference.

    HULK COVER 108.jpg

That is some nice artwork but I think it is an unpublished cover as I also searched and couldn't find it in my Database which has images of all the comics. @Alberto2933 are you only looking to sell it or would you be open to a trade? lmk

  7. It would be my preference to buy art from memorable storylines but alas prices have skyrocketed and that is nearly impossible. When I look at pages now I try to look for a piece of art that attracts my attention even if I haven't read the comic.

  8. I just emailed him yesterday about 4 pages of art. Got an almost immediate response but regretably the art had sold in the last update he said. Through email Spencer doesn't seem nice but I've seen him at shows and he has been really helpful with me. Sunday is apparently when he catches up with emails so it would be wiser to email him on a Saturday in order to get a faster response.

Not to be a pedant, but when you say "low ball" offers, are they really "low ball," or just FMV offers that are below your artificially high asking prices intended to deter offers?

@PhilipB2k17 When I say low ball offers I mean low ball offers well below FMV. In 2021 & 2022 I decided to purge my collection of items that didn't fit my collecting focus anymore so I paid for market data on CAF and did all my due diligence to get a grasp on what FMV would be for the pieces I intended to sell and for those that people were asking to buy. My "artificial" asking price is the price I'd be comfortable selling some of my high end pieces but maybe I should just put them in my black hole collection all together and forget about posting to CAF as I no longer buy items I don't intend to keep long term, I've learned that when willing to sell, the Heritage way is the best way to get top dollar for high end pieces on signature auctions. Dealer pricing is always higher than FMV but coveted pieces sell really fast. Just look at DD and you see that pieces rarely sell for the initial asking price waiting until the recap until they accept a more reasonable offer (unless it is a highly coveted piece which is purchased immediately for the initial asking price). If you take a closer look at their initial pricing it usually is priced about a 10-20% above FMV.

@Hockeyflow33I too have seen that some reps price the art too high as last year I purchased on ebay a cover from an artist represented by the most successful rep the OA market has right now and I bought it for half of what he originally sold it for. I didn't think my bid would win the auction but it did and suddenly I freaked out that I maybe had purchased a fake piece but when I consulted it turned out that the piece was not fake. Weirdly enough his art drops usually completely sell out or at least 80-95% of the pieces posted for sale such as yesterdays drop.

@Ducky13agreed lately CAF seems to be a little outdated and in need of an overhaul.

@Heidjer Staecker when I look at a seller on ebay and he has 100's or 1,000's of pieces for sale it usually deters me of looking through them.
