  1. PS...something happened, because that book sold a LOT of copies on the 15th.
  2. I think I listed that for $50 a year or two ago...glad it didn't sell.
  3. That sounds like it should be standard. Personally, I prefer dope free rooms, myself....which, admittedly, is hard to find when Charlie Sheen is in town...
  4. "Wrecking", of course, being subjective. Whether the market is slim or not, it will continue while there is money to be made. Frankly, there are quite a few books that are selling for LESS signed than their unsigned counterparts...which is fine by me, because 1. maybe creators will realize this isn't the cash cow they were led to believe, and 2. cheaper for me.
  5. I agree with this completely, and have said similar before. 1984-1991 is a phase, not an age. DoS was the quintessential Copper, as was Knightfall...as was Fall From Grace, really....all of those are "outside" the arbitrary cutoff for Copper at 1991.
  6. And none of these numbers takes into account resubmissions, which doesn't much matter with the Hulks or AF #15s, but probably has an impact on the Tec #27 and Action #1 numbers.....
  7. Bull I had no idea that CGC was so powerful that they affected things that happened almost two decades before they existed. It's the time machine they keep in the back.
  8. For further emphasis: There are 10,772 copies of Hulk #181 on the census as of right now. There are 2,988 copies of Amazing Fantasy #15 There are 1,552 copies of Hulk #1 There are 67 copies of Detective #27 There are 69 copies of Action #1 For every AF #15 on the census, there are 3.6 copies of Hulk #181 For every Hulk #1 on the census, there are 6.9 copies of Hulk #181 But for every Detective #27, there are 44.6 copies of AF #15, and 23.2 copies of Hulk #1 For every Action #1, there are 43.3 copies of AF #15 and 22.5 copies of Hulk #1 AF #15 and Hulk #1 = not rare.
  9. Neither Hulk #1 nor Amazing Fantasy #15 are rare. The only legitimately rare books on that list are Action #1 and Tec #27. As has been discussed before, the extant amount of copies of AF #15 numbers in the tens of thousands. Hulk #1 is probably not substantially lower. Fandom was not large and developed by, or even shortly after, 1964. It would take another 10-20 years for that to happen. Hulk #181 may be night and day compared to AF #15 and Hulk #1...maybe...but AF #15 and Hulk #1 are even moreso compared to Action #1 and Tec #27. And there are GA keys...Pep #22, for example, or Suspense Comics #3...which make Action #1 and Tec #27 look fairly common.
  10. But coins are an everyday use item, passing through the hands...still...of tens of millions of people in the US, and billions around the world, every day.
  11. Silly people. There are millions of copies of high grade key books that haven't seen the inside of a slab. CGC has slabbed...4 million now? Still less than the print run of Superman #75. There are billions and billions of comic books in existence. The vast majority of comics produced since 1965 have been saved in the tens of thousands (including Hulk #181.) In fact, I wouldn't at ALL be surprised if 75% OR MORE of the copies initially sold (excluding returns, of course) of Hulk #181 still exist today. I wouldn't at all be surprised if NINETY per cent of those copies still exist. That's somewhere between 50-150,000 copies floating around.
  12. Now THAT is FANTASTIC, and lives up to the name of the thread! SUPER awesome.
  13. "A green traffic light means GO." "How do you know? Did you take a survey of everyone? Are you an authority on traffic lights and their meanings? Well, I guess it must be true, since you said it on the CGC board."
  14. Are you an authority on what other people like...? I imagine not. If not, how do you know someone else isn't? What makes one an "authority"? And does one have to be an "authority" to point out that which is customary and observable?
  15. Starts with Rob, ends in "in". Interesting. And who are you suggesting has been "pumping" and/or "dumping" said "Robin"...?
  16. Boy, is THAT the understatement of the new millenium... It's true...lots of people have no time for logic anymore. Whatever feels good...that's all that matters. Take your logic, your facts, your well reasoned arguments... and hit the trail, you grumpy old Old and outdated at 46. A relic. A dinosaur. It was just yesterday that I was the smart-mouthed young whippersnapper, too.
  17. You guys just don't understand. The promotion in rank to "Captain" from "Ms." was quite substantial. Just think what the issue where she becomes "Commander of the Pacific Fleet" will be worth...that issue will buy a new house.

  20. How thoughtful of you. I'm not sure what you're referring to "pumping" and/or "dumping." Care to elaborate...? (I'm guessing the answer is "no.")
