  1. Yup, that was my book that I bought in a bulk variant lot about 5 years ago. I had set it aside to get signed by Campbell at some point, and it never happened. I knew it wasn't a 9.8, and you know how most moderns go...if it's not 9.8, it's trash. Forgot I had it until recently, ran across it, pressed it, subbed it onsite at Baltimore...and Voila! Yes, he's just trying to flip the book. More power to him. What he does with it after me ain't my concern. I just wish the results of the MCS sale had been known to me; I would have been less willing to let him talk me down. Your copy sold about 5-10min before the other one. The MCS sale took place first through MCS's website, after which it was removed from eBay manually by MCS. I received an offer of $1,000 at 6:14 (PDT) the evening before. I countered at $1300 at 9:19. The next morning, I had a counter of $1150, and accepted it. The timing of the MCS sale is a coincidence. Had I known about it, I would have stuck to my original offer, but $1150 was acceptable to me, so I took it. Which is what makes it odd since your copy, even at full ask, was cheaper than the MCS copy by more than $200. While it "might" be somewhat plausible that a comics shopper on eBay does not know they can buy direct from MCS, it is not so much to believe that an MCS shopper wouldn't know that you can buy comics on ebay- hence why MCS cross lists virtually all of their listings on eBay. I call shenanigans. -J. Yes, somebody, or two somebodys, decided to buy both copies, pay for both copies, and......? It's not reasonable to assume someone shopping MCS would also know about eBay. Believe it or not, there ARE people in the world who don't shop on eBay. Some have never (GASP!) even heard of it! As I already explained, the sale of my copy was already in the works the evening before. The timing of the sales was a complete coincidence, because the timing of MY sale was in MY hands. And, I have quite a lengthy blocked bidder list, so it's possible, if not necessarily probable, that my copy was not available to the buyer of the MCS copy. Who knows? But "calling shenanigans" without bothering to explain how or why is silly and irresponsible. Sometimes the cigar is just a cigar.

Uh....that MCS copy was on both eBay and MCS for a higher price for about a month or two prior to you listing your copy on just eBay. He had it listed first for $2000 and then for $1690, and then $1500. Yes, I'm well aware of that. How do you think I came up with my asking price? $395, but who's counting? Not sure why the quotes around "talked down to." The copy sold at MCS, not on eBay. They are different markets, with different clientele. I haven't and won't. My copy sold to a flipper, after all, not a collector...that's not a good indicator of a strong market. I got a price I was happy with, and that's all that matters. I have very little doubt that, should I so choose, I'll be able to buy a similar copy for far less in the future.

  5. You could have just asked. Martin's well known 'round these parts. He may even be a member. But, by all means, the information isn't private. It's right there on GPA, serial number and all. I just wish I hadn't let him talk me down.
  6. Thanks! The MCS 9.6 sold about 20 min after this one also. Hey, great, someone got a deal from me! What did the MCS copy sell for? Didn't know there was an MCS copy. There is another 9.6 on eBay now. Copies have been popping up but no 9.8s. That's MY copy, that I just sold to him, that he talked me down to $1150. Gotta love it!

  8. Uhm so you're saying speculating on comics is evil, in this thread...
  9. So you could take a roughly £125 haircut on the sale price to save £28 on eBay fees? What a deal! And you gotta love the open, unabashed suggestion of theft from eBay, using eBay's own message system to do it.
  10. I agree, however we already received visions of future characters from what if books. Spider-girl Skaar Lady thor * Foster* What if? issues are many times basically try-out stories. If something sticks or resonates with fans it can be moved into continuity (like the other examples above ). "Venompool" being the latest example (first appearance in the What if? story, the most sought out book from that arc being the compilation issue with the wicked Skottie Young cover ). -J. What others have moved to continuity? And don't say Jane Foster. That books was 35+ years old when Thor "changed". What If the Hulk had the brain of Bruce Banner? What If Spider-man's clone lived? What If Elektra had lived? What If the Thing and Beast continued to mutate? What If Spider-man had not married Mary Jane? What If Phoenix rose again? The same or similar concepts/ideas/characters appeared in What if? stories first. Just as the concept/idea/character of "Venompool" first appeared in a What if? story. No one said they were adapted verbatim into continuity as they originally appeared in What if?, but the concepts /ideas/characters are certainly recognizable. You are splitting hairs. -J. I'm not going to get bogged down in a debate over semantics with you , but sufficeth to say, this is your opinion and you are entitled to it. -J.

In most cases, those are completely different stories, with completely different outcomes, than what happened "in-continuity." They aren't scripts or outlines for what happened later, nor were they intended to be. If all they share is a title, that's not really "moving to continuity." The same or similar concepts/ideas/characters appeared in What if? stories first. Just as the concept/idea/character of "Venompool" first appeared in a What if? story. 13. 1. You don't need to own massive quantities of a book to be guilty of pumping and dumping. You used a false narrative to prop up a book. You continue to do so after being made aware of the bad information you continue to post. Sorry Pal, but in order to pump and dump, you must be able to dump copies, and I cannot unless I dump the 1 I own. I am posting legitimate information and the pages form the book have been posted to support my logical conclusion. You have JACK SQUAT to back up yours so IDK where you think this perpetuation of bad information is coming from other than your mouth currently. 2. CGC labels aren't gospel. Realize where you are, and yes they are gospel to people who hold cgc as the standard in grading. Maybe you should leave if you don't support, think there are inaccuracies, and maybe Hulk 180 Should be worth more then huh?. Start your own grading company and make "correct" labels then. You can really show them who's boss! 3. What is garbage? That your defense of Cable/Deadpool 50 is that it came out first and that because it's in continuity? Neither of those things matter since it isn't the first appearance of the character. Venom is not in Cable/Deadpool 50. Deadpool is not possessed in Cable/Deadpool 50. Ergo, there is no first appearance of Venompool in that book. First time Deadpool combines with a Symbiote, and that symbiote is a spawn of Venom. ergo 1st Appearance. Try actually reading a book before discrediting it. 4. Feel free to post the panel or panels from Cable/Deadpool 50 where Venom possesses and or/manipulates Deadpool. And then explain why the character's first action is to stab itself in the head to separate itself from the host to which it allegedly just bonded. already done, you want to eat brains too bro? I know Deadpool doesn't eat brains normally unless Zombified or Symbiote controlled. And I know you don't lift bro. 5. You are now attempting to change the argument from whether or not Cable/Deadpool 50 is the first appearance of Venompool to whether or not it is "key in regards to the Venom Symbiote + Deadpool story." 1st time they appeared to combine, ergo 1st appearance. People posting "Why is C&D even heating up?" Well, maybe if you read books more often you'd know why 6. No, we are not all wrong. Just you. sigh, if we were in a courtroom, you would pack up and quit your practice before your partners fired you for getting owned logically. Excellent post. Nope. Post is weak as spoon.
  14. It's a sound argument, obviously. But in practice, we all know that the Media Mail restrictions are whatever the USPS employee who is handling the package says they are on any given day. Even if you convince the counter clerk that you're in the right (good luck!), the package could still be opened and rifled at any point in the delivery chain by some other ham-fisted goofball, and everyone at the USPS up to and including the Postmaster General would no doubt support the employee who did it. That's how a "crackdown" works, and being "right" on the merits of the argument is no bulwark against it. What would make more sense, and be much simpler for all parties, is for the USPS to amend or eliminate the advertising restriction, and simply state in the DMM that Media Mail is not, nor was it ever intended to be, a dirt-cheap method for the shipping of consumer goods and collectibles between buyers and sellers -- including vintage LPs, video tapes, antiquarian books and magazines, comic books, etc. If it fits Media Mail (e.g., pamphlets/monographs/informational bulletins/newsletters/circulars and the like for schools, charitable organizations, hospitals, etc.), it ships Media Mail... If you sold it on eBay to turn a buck, and need to keep your shipping costs as low as possible so you can move more product, tough luck: use First Class, Parcel Post, or Priority Mail instead... True, true.
  15. This made me laugh hysterically Your welcome? Thank you for turning me onto some "wing sings ac/dc. It was some enchanting listening to say the least.

  18. Media Mail was intended to be a cheap, slow shipping method to move educational material, not just "books." The prohibition against advertising was to prevent ALL NEW periodicals (not just comics, but Time, Us, Newsweek, etc), which are distributed via "Second Class" special commercial rates, from using the Media Mail service. The easiest way to codify that was to say "all advertising", since almost every periodical is paid for by, and contains, advertising. Since comic books are distributed almost entirely outside the Second Class mail service, they don't fall under the spirit of the regulation, even if it falls under the letter. If it's not in the Domestic Mail Manual, it's meaningless, no matter what ANY employee of the USPS...up to and including the Postmaster General...says or thinks. If they want to update the DMM, they are free to do so...but until then, the document that governs the USPS is the DMM, and if it's not in the DMM, it carries no regulatory weight.
  19. Hey. You're not here to be clever. Hating people is what he's good at and everybody hates you. A match made in heaven!
