  3. It does but here we are on the other side, just fine. And comics are still being printed
  4. Frankly, NYX #4 should be getting more love. The cover to NYX #3 could be any girl...no claws. #4 on the other hand, classic, stark, compelling image. No guessing as to who she is.
  5. Read the other thread. I might go with 1982, but not 1980. Deathstroke is bronze age
  6. Still not a bad price though man.Who knows what a 5 x SS commands in today's market? I only paid $200 for it raw...all in with sigs I was about $400 or so invested so I made out at the time. Not that sorry, but was a great book at the time...just not a lot of attention like now. $200 all in with five sigs?!!?? That means no Stan so I guess the other sigs were cover artist, interior artist, Slott, jaydog & lethal collector? I didn't even charge him for the sig! Jerome don't you and Jay only collect blue labels?
  7. He's still in business and thriving after 3 decades or so, which sadly proves there are.
  8. Yup. And it's because people worship comic creators, and don't want to rock the boat and be cut off. It's madness (and lest anyone think stones and glass houses, I'm in, and have been in, the very same boat.)
  9. Omega Men #3 is quietly making its way up the charts. The Main Man is finally getting his due...?
  10. No, it doesn't, and it's a silly question to ask. It has no meaning. There's no way to prove that something is "unread", by any means. For a slabbed book, it's completely irrelevant. It could have been red 10,000 times, and still been a 9.8. It could have been red zero times, and been a 6.5. Yes, I understand that "read or unread" actually means "was this book handled, and does it therefore have handling damage", and it's a fairly legitimate question to ask for raw books...but the slab and grade put that issue to rest. I wouldn't have cancelled his bids, but I would have carefully considered blocking him. OCD is fine, when it is contained, and doesn't spill over into asking silly, unprovable questions. We ought not cater to such behavior, regardless of the "affliction" the person asking may have.
  11. For these variants print runs matter because they create the bulk of the demand. For Hulk #181 the demand is over what is on the inside. It's a big difference. When only the cover matters demand hangs by a very thin thread. By that logic, Hulk #180 would be the more valuable and sought-after book. This is not the case. Collectors prefer #181 because of... the cover. (Just throwing this out there, although I do see the point you're trying to make.) Also, many of these debates miss the fact that the hobby has grown into collectors purchasing many, many books purely for the cover artwork. It's art; not so different from buying a rare painting at this point. And the better the story behind it, the more it's worth. Im a cover collector Same here. I'm a cover collector too. I also prefer a hulk 181 over 180. It only makes sense as a lot of card collectors are back in the fold.
  12. I'm not surprised it sold for full asking price. To be honest I'm surprised it took as long as it did (which wasn't very long). You could have gone with 2001. Would of gotten you a few more bucks.
  13. Well, it was a long time in coming, but I finally got it slabbed: My beauty, that I bought off of eBay in 1999, for $66 shipped. It was an auction, of course (they all were back then), and my high bid was $125...and I won it for $61, plus $5 shipping. Pretty amazing. Paid for it by check, too. I still think it's a 9.2, but it does have some light foxing in the logo that the graders call "fingerprints" (not the case), so a 9.0 isn't too bad. It's a beauty of a copy, I'll say. So, there you have it.
