  1. Someone bought the two lower priced copies of Harby #1 CGC 9.8 today. That leaves only the "unpressed" 9.8 (which really, no one cares that it's unpressed. You're not getting a 9.9 out of it.) Frankly, I wonder why my undercopy 9.8 SS hasn't sold. $1750 isn't a bad price for a book with only 6 of (signed by Shooter.)
  2. Great point, and maybe that's why they're hangin' back with X-O. Harbinger can be done and presented without going all "spandex-clad" superheroes. Kids with abilities, bad guy in a suit. More sci fi /fantasy, less superfriends. And Bloodshot? Basically a super soldier, so he could be just tactical gear w/ swords. Save the exoskeleton superhero for once their universe is established. Then breakout the uniforms, capes and action figures? Maybe? That's true, the only "cape" in Harbinger is Faith... who wears a costume because that's what superheroes are supposed to do! She's basically a fan-girl who gets the ability to fly, so in a way... Harbinger basically makes fun of classic superheroes. Bloodshot and Harbinger aren't spandex-and-capes comics. And she was hot.
  3. That's not the News I was referring to yesterday it's coming... Look! BTE sighting!
  4. Apparently, I'm now a paper millionaire. Sold two Harby #1s, $720 and $750 (out the door, no fees) in the last couple of weeks. Had to fight for several years the downward pressure on these books...people offering $250, $300, $350....refused to sell for less than $500 out the door. Glad I held on. Now I need to slab more.
  5. Start throwing out increasing offers. Someone will eventually bite.
  6. I hate all of you for driving up the price of OA far beyond what I could ever reasonably afford. Jerks.
  7. what kids in the 90's were saying 'broad'? Maybe he meant the 40's....
  8. You young guys talking about scoring on Harby #10 boggles the mind. As a "post-unity" non-variant, the only book that became worth anything originally was Rai #0. After that, Harby #10 was *maybe* a $10 book (when Harby #1 was $150, 1993 dollars.) Post-unity regular issues were mostly drek, even the "stars" like Shadowman #8, #16, Solar #14, Harby #10, etc.
  9. I drove by Shelly's house yesterday and waved hi.
  10. Kinda what I was thinking also. Copper has a defined, absolute end date. November 18, 1992 at noon. That's when Superman 75 was on sale, the end of the Copper Age and the beginning of the Modern Age and rampant speculation. Pre-Unity Valiant = end Copper. Post Unity Valiant = not Copper. You're welcome. November 20th.
  11. #256 has got to be, doesn't it? I can't think of any others. I don't think anyone, but the people reading them as they were released, care about cosmic Spidey. Nah, there's a bit. Spectacular Spidey #158 was pretty smokin' for a while, and it still is the single issue in that run that is usually missing from dealer stock. I'll happily take every copy anyone has off their hands.
  12. That's a personal attack. Wall of text response, properly parsed, incoming! You just made my heart beat a little faster, you tease....
  13. By the way....if you all enjoyed Ellis' work on Stormwatch, I might suggest Doom #2099, starting with issue #24, co-written with John Francis Moore, and continuing until #39. It's really quite good. There are actually quite a few hidden gems in the 2099 line. Also, pick up Ruins #1 and #2, also excellent, an alternative vision of Ross' Marvels.
  14. Holy cow. What the hell was I drinking when I posted this...? "Yesh, Malan Ore on Wilcasts wass the GREATESHT!! Sho wunner, erp, wonter...wander....sho good! *hick*"
  15. The absolute ability that some people have to see any disagreement as a complete affront to their person, their intellect, their pride, and their being is breathtaking to watch.
  16. That first splash, with the plaza and the fountain and the ninja bodies hanging all over the place, that you don't see are ninja bodies until you look closely.
  17. It's not great, but it's not horrible, and there are good elements to it. It's certainly not vomit-inducing.
  18. I have always assumed that scans were representative of the grade. If there are defects that are not visible in the scan they should be mentioned. Even if they are, why not mention the grade? so a potential buyer doesn't have to waste time looking at scans that are not in the grade they might want. The seller has to take the time to scan the book, and look for issues not on the scan, so why not just post the grade? So that prospective buyers won't be prejudiced by the seller unnecessarily. If I think something is a VG, but a buyer thinks it's a F/VF, they won't look at the scan as closely, and will accept, even if unconsciously, "my word" for it.
  19. X-Men #256 might get a small bump, but I think New Mutants Annual #2 and Captain Britain #8 will be the big winners here. The reason why X256 will never see a significant bump is because.. Well.. Its a DREADFUL cover You're high. Pass the bong. Right cause the mud greenish brown background works so overwhelmingly well with the Psy's turquoise outfit.. And the disorderly lines in the background make it stick out even more! Theres no question in my mind who was stoned when drawing this cover.. Excuse me while I go throw up once more examining this cover Alright, tell me the truth....I wasn't far off, was I...? It's not the best Jim Lee cover, but it's certainly not the worst.
  20. I wish I'd gotten a red and blue signed, too. Sigh.
