  1. I guess it all depends on what one means by "crash." Because the reality is, the Silver Age comics market...more than any other era, even Gold...is supported by a massive framework of tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of collectors, all of whom would love to own this material, if they could but afford it. When I consider my history, I have about 100 various Golden Age books. The perception for me, as a collector starting really in 1990, is that GA has always been out of my reach, and not easily found, even in "affordable" condition. And that is certainly true for most. So, I've never bothered to aggressively obtain them. But I have near complete runs of almost every Silver Marvel and DC that exists. DD, X-Men, JLA, Green Lantern, Batman, Detective, TOS, TTA, etc. Those books have always been available, which has fueled their popularity. They are an attainable goal, even if not in 9.4 or better condition. How many people, even if they had the money, could assemble a complete run of Detective Comics #1-200, in any grade? 20? 30? How many could assemble a complete set of Spidey #1-100, including Fantasy #15? Thousands. Sure, a book like Avengers #4 may not always sell for, say, $100,000 in 9.6. But it will never see $10,000 again, either, without a very long, very slow slide in between, cushioned by collectors of all income brackets lining up to buy a copy in between.
  2. Agreed except for one thing. When the market soars, the books on my want list are a little less attainable without a similar increase in my buying power. That's why I buy multiples.
  3. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. To real collectors, what the market does is irrelevant. If the market soars, great. I've made money on paper, and maybe for my heirs. If the market crashes, great. I can buy the books I couldn't afford before. Win-win-win-win-win.
  4. It was part of the 1992 Silver Age Classics reprint series. The rest were reprints, but this contained inventory material that had never been published before. Easy and cheap 9.8.
  5. "The Year 1000: What life was like at the turn of the first millenium" By Robert Lacey and Danny Danziger. Because I'm such a nerd for history.
  6. I love Sugar and Spike! Do you consider #99 part of the run, Silver?
  7. There are 6 of those, and they all reprint Gen 13 #1, the mini series from 1994. They also reprint various old covers, including Gen 13 #13A, #6, #25, etc. So why is CGC calling them "#nn"?? can't they just say on the title "reprint #1 mini" or something like that??? The books themselves have no number, either on the cover, or in the indicia. When books have no number (ex: Killing Joke), they get the "#nn" designation. The label does state that it's a reprint of the #1 mini.

  9. Wave your around in every ing thread.
  10. Those days have long sailed........
  11. You're nothing until you've been accused of being an RMA shill.
  12. Fantastic!!! I cant find a solid 3 to save my life! They are out there, it's all what you are willing to pay. To be honest, I have a slew of HG raw Crow books, but honestly aside from a few people here, most are really cheap. I read WTB threads all the time, and own many books that people look for. Unfortunately, my raw 9.8 copper coolness is not to be had for $3 shipped ( an example of an offer I was PM'd) I did own, for a very short time, the absolute SHARPEST Crow 1 CGC 9.8 you would ever see. And when I sold it, I got the price I wanted. Sometimes if you want it bad enough, ya gotta MANNUP I do wish you luck though, they are extremely tough books, but a great CA run to own (thumbs u Someday, those who want rare, high grade Copper rarities will either pay what the books are really worth...or they will be replaced by people who will.
  13. You better watch it. You're beginning to grow on me.
  14. One thing people would potentially expect for their money would be some sort of regulation in the selling area. If that were to happen, I believe you can say bye bye to the selling forum which would be a shame. Yeah, no, charging for membership is a ludicrous idea. It would...rightfully...give people a sense of entitlement and ownership that they absolutely should not have. Charging for strikes, on the other hand....
  15. Oh come on. You KNOW the answer to this! The Marquis knew it well, too....
  16. Here's the thing though. Cal was insulting me for not being able to understand his posts, when it was his fault for completely failing at communication. At that point, I do not think I was a tool to point that out to him. I let it go a handful of times before mentioning it, until I saw it was going to be a running gag of his, as if I had trouble reading. Ehhhh....perhaps. Perspective is everything, as always. One can only know for sure what goes on in one's own mind. Beyond that is just guesswork. Absolutely.
  17. oooo..... You're not going to do very well on THAT transaction...
  18. You already generate enough revenue with your copper 9.8's. Pretty funny. Edit's even funnier. I have yet to get a strike, though.
  19. Couple of RMA observations from this thread: 1. Arguing with Cal is fun, but isn't likely to change his mind. 2. Insulting Cal (or anybody), because you are frustrated they don't "see things the way you do" makes you a tool. Insulting someone because they "post in the third person", or post in some other way that's not a direct insult to YOU also makes you a tool. 3. People who diagnose "literal insanity" from posts on a message board are tools. 4. Mike...if you really feel that strongly about it, maybe it IS time to get the police involved. This guy...he's not worth it. You're right, he may be dangerous, which is all the more reason to get the police involved. But he's not worth risking YOUR life, limb, and freedom in the process..
  20. That's not a bad idea... It would be a better idea if CAL came up with it. EVERYTHING is a better idea if Cal comes up with it...
  21. Most of you with the pay-to-play issue (cause there are several in this thread) are missing the point. Don't charge to sign up. Charge for strikes. First strike = $20 (time out is good, too.) Second strike = $50 Third = $100 Fourth = $500 Fifth = $1,000 Or some variant thereof. No need to ban. To avoid incentivizing handing out strikes...require the money in the form of donation to HERO, or CBLDF, or some other unconnected to CGC charity. And then...hire someone who does not post, and who will apply all the rules, consistently, to everyone, all the time. You'd be SURPRISED at how civil everyone will get when they don't want to pay $500 to stay.... Win.
