  1. Is there really that much of a difference?! Also how do you tell?.. I live in Canada So I honestly did not think anything of it .... I wonder why cgc would not have labeled it if they normally do ?... Should I be asking for a free reslabing or something ?. There's a MASSIVE difference. The Canadian price versions ONLY appeared on newsstands in Canada, had a tiny print run compared to direct and US newsstand versions, and are almost non-existant in 9.8. So yeah, you did very good. Instead of the $70 or so dollars it's worth, it could conceivably be worth $300-$500 to the right collector. (thumbs u As far as CGC not labeling it, they just missed it. Will they relabel it for free? Sure. But you have to pay to get it to and from them.
  2. I would have been more surprised if they came back 9.5's CGC does not use 9.5 as a grade designation I thought the same thing, but didn't want to come across as being rude. There was a 9.5, but it was only used for Wizard direct-submit books, wasn't it? Not aware of any 9.5's for Wizard, maybe it was only used for the 1/2 issues The hideous "Wizard First" program graded brand new books at the 9.0, 9.5, or 10 level before it was axed because of its hideousness. (Sorry for the bad pic.) LEST WE FORGET. A man after my own heart...
  3. OutSTANDING! You have an unlabeled Canadian price version! Don't let anyone take it from you for the regular US price...that baby is RARE! VERY nice!
  4. "feedback" is both singular and plural. "feedbacks" is a made up word invented by ebay users.
  5. Sorry you're not happy with these results, Ewan, but you still have some wonderful, wonderful books. Oh, and the gold foil edition should be in a green label. It was added by a comic book retailer (New Dimension) over a decade after the were printed. If *I* add gold foil to a book, will *I* get a blue label back? No.
  6. Shush - adults are talking Where...?
  7. (thumbs u That guy still owes me for the original shipping on the Bats #428 he returned because he didn't like CGC's grading...also about $150 I lost in the 4 month delay between selling it to him and actually receiving it back because he was too cheap to pay for return shipping.
  8. I loved PA as an 8 year old... Then made the mistake of buying it in college on VHS..... It is horrid. Just awful. As cheesy as it could possibly be.
  9. Someday, I WILL find copies of this book that are actually WHITE, instead of their usual nice, but creamy, shade of off-white.... I KNOW they exist SOMEwhere...
  10. Not if it's a 9.6 $400 then. Either way GREAT GREAT GREAT Deal for $500...where raw #1's described as just NM and not CGC'd go for $300-350. I still can't believe there's a modern book worth hundreds of dollars.... That hasn't happened since 1993....
  11. The Black Hole was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I have refrained from seeing it as an adult, due to the Poseidon Adventure effect. I had (and still have, somewhere) the Black Hole Book & Record set. I listened to that thing a billion times.
  12. Lke I said...what a strange, strange trip this thread has been. And I didn't even read 80% of it. By the way..."posting the contents of a PM will get the poster a strike" may be the law of this land, but it's not a very good one. If PMs degenerate into nastiness...or even start with nastiness...I'll be lummoxed if I'm going to keep unsolicited attacks "private." Now, if I solicit information, and that information is given on the condition that it remain private, to which condition I agree in advance, I would be a cad if I violated such an agreement, and would rightfully deserve a strike. But UNsolicited PMs, especially hostile ones...? If one cannot say such things in public...just like in real life...one should be cautious about what they say, and to whom they say it to, in private. Not all PMs are sacrosanct, especially unsolicited hostile ones. Can you imagine how absurd it would be for a judge in a criminal threat case to refuse to consider evidence that proves said threat, simply because it was sent as a PM to the victim, and thus is "private"...? /sermon
  13. I thought that the 1998 Annual was a Buffy thing...it was at one point...post 1994 Hellboy appearances aren't tough to find, I think.... Would you, now...?
  14. +1 It would be tough and fun, but not anywhere near impossible. There are plenty of these books in 9.8 condition, you just have to go out and find them and slab them yourself. Issues 2-9 Not even one copy has been graded Same with 12-19, 37-50, 68-79 and 101-125 Not one copy graded, let alone 9.8. RMA's point cannot be minimized. As an anthology title, there are hits and misses, winners and dogs through out the series. Many of these issues will never be slabbed unless someone industrious does try to put a run together. Not impossible, but much much harder than any comparable 150+ run from the big two. The biggest impediment to putting this run together is sheer expense. At $20 (about) a pop to self-slab, the bare minimum cost of this set...bare minimum...is $3,140, and that assumes you got the books for free. This run cannot be bought in 9.8 from others, because there's no financial incentive to do it. Other than "the keys" which, in my opinion, sell for ridiculously low prices (seriously? $52 for DHP #24? I'll take all of them, please) compared to their relative scarcity, no one is going to do any serious searching for someone else for a $35 sale, much less a $20 one, where it would be less costly to the seller to burn the book in the fire than get it slabbed and sell it to you. I dunno about the rest of you, but if I'm gonna go spend time searching for something someone else wants, it's going to be $50, minimum, regardless of how often they sell for pennies on eBay. My advice to anyone looking is to BUY those $20, $30 (shipped) 9.8s that you see of scarce in high grade indies, because they are never going to come up in quantity, for ANY price. That Aliens #1 that sold for $25 STILL grates on me. Is it impossible? Certainly not! For someone with funds to blow and patience, the entire run could be easily put together in 6 months. But it will cost you, either in time, or cash, or both. It CANNOT, however, be put together from one big convention, like a 9.8 run of Amazing Spiderman #200-#400 can. I would gladly put together a complete 9.8 set for anyone who wants one, but I wouldn't do it for much less than $10,000 (keeping in mind that slabbing cost alone is $2500 of that, without including S&H&I to, from, and to again)...and that's, in my opinion, a bargain basement price, especialy considering all the work that it would take to do it.
  15. Fine...but since this is a community issue...we're going to need you to post all of those PM's publicly tomorrow so we can analyze them. Yes, we also need to know your whereabouts on the date the sale to Bat-Man was finalized, and people to corroborate your alibi. For all we know, you're Bat-Man, and this is just a smear campaign against Yannis! Now wait just a second...I don't think I ever actually stated that I wasn't Bat-Man. I'M Bat-Man.
  16. I certainly might have one in the boxes, but remember that it costs money to slab, and I'm not rich. My last bill was $1100+, and that was only for 58 books that *may* be able to sell for $5K, if that. Also, I didn't start (really) collecting until 1990, and so didn't have a chance to buy this new off the stand. I was at the mercy of whomever had a copy. I've found several 9.6 potentials. All the books printed before about 1993. No single book stands out as "most difficult" yet. It fluctuates. At one point, #1 (because of Concrete) was the most valuable. Then, #24 (first Alens in comics), then #10 (first "Mask"), then #54 (first Next Men.) For the most part, the entire run can be had for less than $5/book, with most much, much less. *Maybe* #157 will cost you more, but it's doubtful. The run, while filled with amazingly good stuff, is still just an anthology. This is a good thing. $10. #1, #10, #24, #34-36 (Aliens, Predator, AVP), #51-62 (Sin City), #54, #88-91, #157.
  17. VERY nice Canadian version.... I know someone who would be interested in that....
