  1. Have had a batch of 5 there (slow track) for a month and still not verified. Is that normal? My last set was verified very quickly, also slow track.
  2. Only thing going against you is paypal. I've only opened 1 dispute in paypal which was clearly in my favor. Not sure how they will land on this or if their like ebay always siding with the buyer. I have given mail that was delivered to the wrong address back to the post office. Not sure that would work in this case though. Personally as long as he covers ALL paypal and shipping fees i would just take them back.
  3. Could be too much heat....150* is pretty safe though. More than likely needs to sit in the press for an extended period of time.
  4. Yeah i didn't really notice that for whatever reason. I think the bag was a bit too small causing it to wrinkle like that. I pressed it again and put it in the correct size bag. All the wrinkles are now gone on the back.
  5. Modern slow track: received 3/14 shipped 4/25
  6. I'm good at spotting flaws for 9.6 - 9.8 range but bad at counting them up to determine a grade. Trying to figure out my next batch of books to send in and not sure if this should be one of them. Biggest flaw is the long crease in the top right. I have pressed it multiple times and this is the best I can it, it was much worse. Thanks!
  7. Not sure if this is worth grading or not in this condition. I bought the book back in the early 90s for $20 so I don't have much in it. All the pages are there including the coupon, thanks!
  8. Got 2 copies of the crain variant and like the story so far. Back in the early 90s I always thought hulk with wolverine powers would be a great character. Saw that secret crain variant on ebay and passed. Would have got 1 of each if they had shown it earlier but they waited too long for me.
  9. EBay will almost always side with the buyer so I wouldn't worry too much. I have had that same thing happen to me a few times, pictures didn't show defects and emails from seller stating the book was perfect. I have always gotten my money back and twice the seller did not even want the book back due to shipping costs. A ton of sellers think if the book has the cover attached it's NM.
  10. I have a ASM #797 Mike Mayhew variant that arrived with what appears to be a printing flaw. Seller has been great and offered a full refund but not sure how this would affect the value, guessing a 9.6 would be most I could hope for but not really sure, other that this it is perfect. Would cost quite a bit more than what I paid to buy another copy in NM+ condition. Only thing I can think of is to keep it and possibly get a signature over the flaw but it's in an awkward location. And getting a signature is kind of a PIA right? Standing around all day for a sig doesn't sound like fun to me. Bottom left corner
  11. Not worried about criticism, I'm happy to answer questions since my results clearly work. I've seen multiple threads discussing cbcs and have seen at least one person in this thread who presses as a business. Not sure how this is any different.
  12. Thats just a natural reaction some people have. I understand, most people on the outside think of comics as something for kids. You have to educate people on certain things and this is one of them usually. Once you spend a bit talking about the hobby people come around. Especially when you start telling them prices of books.
  13. I own several 9.8s but yes, I never submitted a book of my own at the time. And I don't even have a FB account, why would I brag to any friends about collecting comics of all things. Most of my friends are car guys and don't even know I collect, they would probably laugh at me if I told them. All I am doing is sharing what I have learned so far. And I think most people could press books themselves without much trouble.
  14. Not a great copy of this either way and needs probably two more rounds in the humidity chamber and press. But these are before. AFTER 1 humidify and 1 press.
  15. My god man, i am not doing this as a business, just sharing what I have learned because the results have been very good. I have no desire to do this for people, none at all. Im just trying to help people who may want to try it on their own. And at the same time receive advice from people who have done it themselves. I was asking what grading teir to choose from based on pre and post cgc, to which last i checked no one responded. But I figured it out anyway. What does one have to do with the other. Im not pretending to be some comic guru and come off arrogant so please dont misunderstand. If you dont want to do this then dont, but i took a chance and did it myself with a lot of success.
  16. Its just an expression. Although i could probably teach him. Your comment is silly, how do you know what these come out looking like, you are just assuming that someone can't do research, practice and put out a good product on their own. Why, because a company with an expensive press says so? These things come out looking like glass, I will post some pictures when I get a chance. I have an Iron fist #15 that the before and after is amazing.
  17. A PTFE teflon sheet, which is what is used as the transfer, is the same stuff people use to cook their scrambled eggs on every morning. It does not degrade below 662* F. Do you really think comics are heated up that high? You guys are funny. This stuff is not that hard guys but by all means, keep paying people your hard earned money for a job my 9 year old can do.
  18. I have gotten away from the iron as multiple presses seem to work just as well. But on low heat it works for spine ticks and getting wrinkles out of the spine edge. Just use a sheet of teflon over it. Dont let it get too hot or the teflon pattern will print on the book. Ive got about 1000 of my own books to press, no way i am paying someone all that.
  19. That's true but the adjustment is not much at all. You get a feel for it real quick. 90% of what i have i leave at 1 setting unless i press an annual or something. You don't need much pressure at all really. Not sure what you mean by adjusting for subscription creases, i always press the entire book Only problem i have run into is on new books, particularly with black covers the staple will press through and leave a mark on the cover. Have not figured out a good fix for that yet.
