  1. What a big improvement over the other version...
  2. I'm saying that it's such a miniscule issue it probably wouldn't have been noticed by the QC person even if they were taking their time to check for mistakes...
  3. The reality is that CGC graders are advised to ignore any restoration when grading in order to arrive at a (hopefully) more impartial grade. So not only is the above statement incorrect, it's actually the complete opposite of what usually takes place...
  4. Please bear in mind that something like this wouldn't have been an issue even in the golden days of Quality Control...
  5. Sorry if I gave you the wrong idea; I just thought that it's a pretty nice-looking book even with the odd color fade...
  6. The main problem would be all the previous copies they've graded without noting any difference...
  7. It depends on a variety of factors, but 8.5 would be my best guess...
  8. This actually sounds a lot more interesting than the Creepy Annual...
  9. Yessir, I'd say it reminds me more of some of his EC work than the other stories. The thing that I really respect about Wally is that his work always seemed to be at a very high level, and the folks who worked closely with him appeared to benefit from his creativity as well. I can think of very few artists that endeared themselves to their fan base in the same way he did...
  10. This is an interesting observation, since Wood reportedly did this entire story without any help from his friends...
  11. The CGC Grading Guide states that a book with a fully split spine would usually be no higher than a 1.8 and may be further downgraded if tape or extra staples were used to hold the book together...
  12. What I would look for are signs the holder has been opened at either the top, bottom or sides---it's very tough to accomplish this without the holder cracking or showing some type of stress damage. And as long as the grade on the label matches the grade of the book (and all the other information is correct) you should be good.
  13. If this was a Batman comic, I'd be even more impressed...
  14. I find it interesting that they allegedly like to eat glue and they often avoid areas where ink is present...
  15. While qualifying this book would seem to be an option, CGC may just factor the cumulative damage of the missing pieces into the grade. I'd probably just keep this one as a reading copy, but if you decide to submit it, I wish you the very best of luck...
