I'm not sure that I'm understanding, but I'll give it a go :)

The thing is not to wait until you are charged to call CGC. The minute they are received and checked in is when to call to be charged. I've had the customer rep service THEN be able to charge me and correctly, when I can explain the credit and they can verify. (thumbsu

I didn't talk to "accounting specifically" just a customer service

I was charged but charged the wrong amount - the 10% discount was missing. So I called accounting, got someone from customer service, and they said the credit would be coming shortly. One month in and still no credit so I am wondering if this type of wait fop a credit is normal.

  2. Just a quick question for those that received credits from CGC for overbilling - how long does it usually take for the credit to show up?

Over a month ago now I upgraded my membership to elite and there were two orders already en route to CGC. The person who helped me upgrade my membership and answer questions told me that the 10% discount will apply to the orders that are not paid yet, but warned me that I have to double check and call in if the discount was not there. For both orders I was charged the full amount, and I called in right away to ask for a $110 credit to cover the discount for the pair of orders. The person on the phone was very helpful but had no power to give the credit, to it was sent into the system. I called again a couple of weeks ago and still no movement or credit on file.

I know accounting is backlogged, and that is all good since I put in orders fairly regularly. But I also do not want this credit to be lost in the system since the discount on these two orders were a part of the math that I used to convince me to do the upgrade in the first place.

Right off the bat, apologies if this is in the wrong section, after a bit of poking around this felt like the right place!

Last December I sent ComicLink a bunch of slabbed comics, art and a single ungraded comic. I was told, albeit without a lot of detail, that the unslabbed comic could be graded on my behalf and then put into auction.

Since then I've asked a handful of times about what is happening with the ungraded comic and I either get completely ignored or the question gets dodged (I've had to reach out about other auctions and the question gets completely unanswered). I even CCed other departments the last time I asked and just got a blanket "we have no updates".

Is this kind of dismissiveness normal from CLink? It's not as if I'm asking weekly and pressuring them, since December I've reached out three times about it and I've got absolutely no details - they haven't even told me if it's submitted.

They send it in to CGC on your behalf and it shows up in your list of books for sale once it is back. They have no way to speed up the process, and so you can read through the Current Turnaround Times thread to get a sense of how much longer it will be.

    Best of luck with selling!

Guess I'm getting back a bunch of 8.5-9.2s doh!

Some people assume that faster is worse grades but I have not noticed anything like that. For the orders I have done, the ones moving through way ahead of schedule were graded the same as the ones a bit slower, which is to say you have about a 1 in 4 chance of getting a particularly harsh grader either way.

Okay, so I am a noob with getting my own books graded but I think this thread has answered the question I had: just because my books are now "scheduled for grading" does not mean I should expect to see them anytime soon.

These were two different modern submissions, no fast tracks. One was received 6/10 and the other 7/12; interestingly they both were made "scheduled for grading" yesterday (when my card was charged.)

It usually takes a couple of months, maybe 3 at most, so the wait will not be too long. Moderns tiers typically motor through compared to older books.

Best of luck with your submissions :) Here's hope for a bunch of 9.8s

Is anyone else in Canada having more issues than usual with FedEx lately? A few months ago a package from CGC would arrive within about 4 or maybe 5 days using the ground option. The past few shipments have taken a week, and I have had books damaged en route as a result. Now the latest package sent Monday which was scheduled for Fri is still sitting with almost no chance of making it over the boarder and clearing customs for tomorrow. It has been sitting literally in the exact same spot for 3 days now. I hope it gets here soon and without a lot of damage.

Sitting in the same spot for 4 days now. I am getting a bit annoyed/worried.

He doesn't have it yet.  He's trying to be proactive and get it set up in the system correctly, or be 100% assured that it will be designated as an error comic.

It's still showing as no different than a regular comic, and he is getting justifiably nervous about it, not wanting to have it done incorrectly, big hassle fixing it.

Can't blame him.  Who wants to go through that hassle and waiting, when it could all be avoided up front.  If someone at CGC keyed it into the system as an error, he might feel a bit more confident that it is coming out the door correctly.

    Yeah.

I am in Canada so if it goes through this way the cost to CGC to ship it back for an ME is ridiculously high. Even then it is not just a re-slab since they need to confirm the error inside the actual book. That is a crazy amount of effort, and added risk to the book, compared with someone going into the system and typing out "error variant" in under 5 seconds. It just seems best on all sides to get ahead of it and fix it first but it has been three weeks since my first attempt to contact them, and almost two weeks since my second, and nothing has happened yet. I figure there is only a month or so left give or take before this batch is graded.

Were you able to talk to anyone?

I talked to people twice when I called in and both times they said they would send a note or something, but nothing has changed in the system. Both times I also brought up that I was charged incorrectly (this order and another was missing my 10% discount) and the credit has not shown up either. I am not sure what all is involved in the process but it seems to take a while for things to move even after calling.

I sent in a Canadian price variant, labeled it twice on the sub form, and they still missed it

    So yeah

An error variant is a bit different though since it needs to be checked on the inside. The price is visible from the outside.

I am in Canada and send in a lot of CPVs, and I feel your pain. It seems they are identified as being CPVs for some books and not others.

  12. I sent in a Batman 608 second printing in my last submission and I clearly identified it as an error variant in the submission form. The 4th wrap in that book is in the wrong place, which is a known error variant for that book. When it showed up in my submissions after getting to CGC I found that it is just listed in the system as a 608 second printing with no mention of it being an error variant. I called a couple of times to get it fixed early since I would be pretty ticked off if it was slabbed and not identified correctly, but nothing has changed in the system yet.

This was my first time sending in an error variant and it occurred to me that maybe the error is not checked and entered into the system until it is graded. So my question for those who have submitted error variants before is: when is the error variant part identified in the system? Should it be there right away, or is it done at the grading stage?

Thank you very much in advance to those who respond and help me out with this one :)

  13. Based on where things are at with slow track moderns my next group should be graded in about 4-5 weeks. I am holding my breath with this one since it is the nicest group I have ever submitted, and I am hoping for solid grading along with a lack of newton rings :) A phone call from CGC letting me know that a couple of books were bumped up a tier based on where the grading landed would be a fantastic plus as well.

Probably same as color lift 😜 but idk.

Also, I'm noticing some are resending in grades, that don't seem right, back in to be done again, and to see if they'll get an experienced grader?

What is not being said is, how are those books turning out the second and or more go arounds?

Could it be these that aren't this time are the same that weren't last time?

Very confusing when all that's said in this thread is kind of third hand accounts, so I was curious as it isn't ever mentioned other than that's what "they" mean to do is regrade....

I only re-send books where the price difference between grades is significant. The difference between a 9.6 and a 9.4 is usually not worth it for most moderns, so the books has to be a solid 9.8 candidate in my mind to do it. When I do crack and re-sends I normally do at least 6 of them at a time. Not everything is going to hit, but if I get the 9.8 I want on say 2 of the resubs it more than makes it worth while.

On a side note, CGC is more consistent that you may be led to believe on these boards. If there is no defect that is fixable the odds are the book will come back in the same grade. For this reason I focus on books with pressable defects that I can fix up before the resend. For example, I cracked 4 copies of Usagi Yojimbo 1 that were graded 9.4, 9.4, 9.6, and 9.6. After a few presses and a lot of work three of those books (so far) hit 9.8, and the 4th was 9.6 without any flaw I could see so I sent it in yet again just to be sure. Usagi has tanked since I did all this, but the point is about being able to correct flaws and playing a probability game with cracking and re-submitting.

Regular track group of 25 moderns

Arrived and SFG on 13 May 2022

    G/E/I 8 July 2022

    Q/C and shipped today, July 11th 2022.

This one graded out almost exactly how I expected. A couple of results that were above where I was thinking and 3 or possibly 4 that were below. Since everything else was graded very fairly I assume I just missed something with the ones that graded lower than I hoped.

    10 ME books

Arrived and SFG on 23 June 2022

Moved to GEI on 6 July 2022

My experience so far has been that ME books sit in GEI for about 2-3 weeks before they are slabbed and shipped out. The total TATs are always really good.

Flipped to Q/C Finalized today, July 8 2022. This sets a speed record for me for ME books. Very impressive.
