  1. Yesterday was the one month anniversary of having a book arrive back at my home that was not slabbed even though it was listed as 9.8 in the online tracking and I was charged for it. I got on the phone with CGC within 15 mins of opening the box, and I have been on the phone with them several times since then with no resolution.

I try to be fair and I understand that things happen, but this should have been pretty straightforward. They should send me a slip to send it back, re-grade, and either slab it or refund the cash I paid to slab that book. Either that or send me a credit to compensate for everything. But every time I call there is no decision made on this issue, and the people on the help line have to real authority to make decisions. I am starting to get frustrated.

we need a separate economy tier TAT thread. I feel like saying "whoop de freaking doo" every time someone posts a modern TAT

I agree. I have to sift through economy complaints to find the stuff I am looking for here. A separate thread seems like a good solution since the economy and moderns are on different wavelengths for TATs.

has anyone been getting lucky and getting lightning speed turnarounds on slow moderns as of late?

I've had really quick turnaround around over the past few months on slow track moderns, especially those with a pre-screen. I expect that to start drying up now though since they diverted some of their graders to help clear out the massive backlog in pre-1975 books.

Sent back two books using ME, one was broken when shipped back to me and the other had really bad Newton rings.

Entered into SFG on April 14, and went to G/E/I about a week later.

Shifted to QC and then shipped both on 12 May 2022.

I'm very happy with the turnaround time. It weirdly went in G/E/I fast and then sat there, but the bottom line is it is being sent back quickly and faster than promised.

I just want to quickly add that I was very impressed with the shipping back to me. I am used to FedEx ground which usually takes a week or so from Canada to and from CGC. The package was picked up at CGC yesterday and showed up at my door 18 hours later. Really incredible, and big kudos for selecting the more expensive shipping option. I would have been totally fine with regular ground so this was a very pleasant surprise.

My ME books hit SFG 14 Apr 2022 and shifted to GEI today 27 Apr 2022.

Looking forward to getting these back. One book had really bad Newton rings, and the other one had the corner of the slab cracked during shipping.

It has been a week now and the ME books are still in SFG. Does anyone know how long ME books usually take once they hit this stage? It is my first time with this process.

    Economy Fast Track

    RCVD 3/24/22

    G/E/I 4/27/22

    G/QC 4/29/22

    Shipped 5/2/22

Somewhere around 30 Business days....Disclaimer these were sent in with an express book

This is good news for me, I have a group that hit QC on the same day so hopefully they will ship out today.

  8. Coming up on two weeks without hearing what to do about the book that was sent back unencapsulated even though it made the pre-screen, and a month of waiting to hear back from accounting about an overbilling. I like to stay patient with stuff like this, and I am pretty chill about it all, but maybe CGC needs to invest in more support people to meet these demands. We all know that mistakes can happen, but people get less and less understanding the longer they wait for a resolution.

So does anyone have any clue as to why they are treating Economy Tier like the plague and instead running through modern?

    #StopHoldingEconomyTierHostage

I would guess there are two main reasons. First off, pre-1975 books have to be checked more closely for restorations and such and take a bit more time to grade than moderns. I mean, if the decision on the majority of books is where in the 9-range it falls the grading can go super fast. The second is the newer graders who are hired on would likely start at the modern tier and then work up to the older books once they build up experience. So new hiring will impact on the modern tiers first. Following along those lines, I would put the most experienced graders on the WK and Express tier books first since the stakes are highest there.

I don't know any of that for sure, but it makes the most sense to me.

Moved to Grading/QC on Apr 22.

This one has been super fast even for fast track.

And shipped Apr 22. Man that was fast.

The grades were very fair and almost exactly in line with what I expected. My EoSV 2 hit 9.6 when I was hoping for a 9.8, but I had 2 of my Usagi Yojimbo 1s out of four hit 9.8 when I was thinking one would. So one a touch better, one a touch worse, and 13 books hitting the exact grade I was expecting.

Yes, they are moving very fast. The package of books I sent and they received yesterday, are already at SFG as of yesterday. Granted one of those books is a walkthrough, they are plowing through these and that is what scares me, because is that what's causing some of the funky grading.

I haven't noticed any dropoff in expected grades as the speed has gone up. I did have a book come back earlier this week that was in the reject box even though it was listed as making the 9.8 pre-screen. I can live with some human error though as long as it is uncommon and they fix the mistake for me.
