  1. Because Blackstone came along with their fancy "business acumen" and the old theory of "80% of your business comes from 20% of your customers". As long as CGC is processing tens of thousands of garbage books every week for their small handful of large commercial clients, the rest of us get screwed This is why people hate sellouts. The previous owners actually cared and were involved in the comic community. Blackstone only cares about turning as much profit as possible
  2. If you haven't realized yet that CGC is full of bologna, I don't know what to tell ya
  3. More of that good ol' CGC quality service Brought to you by Blackstone
  4. Just noticed this is the back cover for Black Cat #50, fyi! ....dont suppose that one is for sale?
  5. How so? "Mint condition" means basically perfect, brand new, right off the press. That definition shouldn't change just because the book is older. That mentality doesn't extend to any other collectible that I know of. You don't say an antique car is in mint condition if it has a little rust on the undercarriage, simply because it's an old car. Thats counted as damaged and factored into the value. And its not like the book was made in the stone ages with hand tools. They still had machine presses and it would have looked better than this 70 years ago when it was brand new. If the book has ANY wear at all, then it is not a 9.8 mint condition book.
  6. Slightly off topic, but I really don't like how they grade golden age to different standards than other eras. I can clearly see blunted corners, edge wear, and a color breaking crease near the bottom staple. This book is clearly in incredible condition for it's age, but 9.8 should mean that it looks like it just rolled out of the printing press. If this were a modern book it would probably be an 8
  7. Because they only care about the ease of profitability. Good customer service is too much of a profit inhibitor. As long as they have commercial customers sending in tens of thousands of modern garbage books to be graded every week, opinions from actual collectors like us will keep going unheard. CGC no longer serves the comic book community, they only exploit us
  8. You could always list them here Depending on how many books and their value, you can negotiate the commission with HA. If the books are high enough value, they will want to get them graded through CGC first though. I know HA has a contract with them that basically puts their books at the head of the line, but I have no clue how long that actually takes. If you send them graded books they go to auction 4-5 weeks after they receive them from you. You can negotiate a cash advance too, so that's always a fun option. I would personally steer clear of Ebay if the books have significant value. But if they are all low grade/low value, then Ebay is probably the way to go
  9. I guess I worded that poorly. It seems like there was originally supposed to be Guardians vol.3 before this movie and they filmed it as such. Then Guardians vol.3 got moved or something and they had to cut everything from Thor 4 and be like "Yes they were off having adventures but don't worry about what happened, it's not important. Bye Guardians!"
  10. That's ridiculous. False advertisement of TATs, constant lies from support about TATs, and they can just keep my books indefinitely? That will be my final CGC submission then.
  11. Understatement. It's so poorly written and cobbled together that it seems like it was a completely different movie at some point. The "jokes" fall flat, the story doesn't make any sense, it retcons stuff leaving a bunch of plot holes punched throughout the entire MCU so far, and for some reason the Guardians are in it just.....because? And when I say its poorly written, I mean they literally have to have like 20 minutes of Korg narrating flashbacks and montages just so you have even half an idea of what in the heck is happening, and it STILL doesn't make sense
  12. Is it possible to get your books back or have them upgraded to Fast Track Economy if they're already in the slow economy queue? TAT was 180 days when I submitted back in March, now subs are taking well over a year. I'm over it.
  13. I haven't had any luck with boolean search techniques on Ebay in years. I didn't know they still worked for people
  14. And this is ONLY after tons of push back from the community when CGC announced that they decided to stop putting notes on slab labels anymore. And as far as TATs go, moderns have improved but that's about it. They only REALLY care about their commercial customers at this point. And it will be interesting to see how their volume changes now that the market for random slabbed non-key moderns is tanking.
  15. That is nuts, what a beautiful copy. Was it a one owner book before you?
  16. Picked this up for a steal today, considering the recent sale on Heritage https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/horror/the-beyond-25-ace-1954-cgc-fn-65-off-white-pages/a/122228-13245.s?ic2=mytracked-lotspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyTrackedLots-101116
  17. Careful now, wouldn't want to get caught "promoting competitors"
  18. Not true. He claimed I was promoting the other guys. I just mentioned they were doing something new and asked if CGC had a planned response. His response was to delete the comment and threaten me. The mods get pretty heavy handed with bans if you so much as mention that other 4 letter company and it's only gotten worse since BlackRock bought CGC, along with everything else about the company. Stick around the boards a little longer and you'll start to see what I mean.
